6.10 rc2 made hardware video console GUI difficult to use, rc4 renders unusable

  • Urgent

Working on an older server-class (HP Proliant) hardware video port.  6.9 was slow but adequate for general use.  6.10 rc2 made it extremely difficult, and only suitable for initial network configuration.  In 6.10 rc4 the newly added "feature" of hover-highlight makes it not possible to use the (VGA) hardware console GUI in any manner whatsoever.

I'll take a pass on rc4 and rolled back to rc2 to at least have minimal functionality on the hardware console.

Rolled back another instance to remember the way it used to work better.

Suggestion: provide an option for a minimalistic GUI mode with out all the bells and whistles, giving one enough basic functionality to at least setup and monitor the system on the GUI system video port, or ILO/IPMI interface.  Alternatively, provide the means to setup/startup/shutdown the array with CLI commands.  If they exist, I am unable to find documentation on that, please advise.  Also, as an acceptable workaround, a set of user friendly Unraid-maintained CLI utilities for creating managing docker and kvm images would be nice, and obviate the need for the GUI.

Please do not deprecate older but otherwise perfectly functional hardware platforms.  I am loathe to scrap a 16-core, 72 GB ram, 6 TB disk machine just because the software no longer desires to support it.  At least work around it with whatever feature limitations may be required due to use of more modern functions.

As a personal rant, I am dismayed at the adding of new features, i.e. GUI enhancements this late in the release candidate cycle.  I would expect you would adhere to your stated position of limitations to bug fixes.  Changing the user experience and introducing breaking changes should NOT happen in the 4th release candidate.

This is unattractive and distracting, and adds no value to the user experience.  There are also several other inconsistencies in the highlighting of other areas.  Please revert or fix, and offer a configuration option to disable it and run it in a thin lightweight mode.
