• [6.11.0-rc5] SMB errors thrown in log when connected to timemachine

    I set up a share, make it a timemachine share, and connect my mac to it. When I go to start a backup I get the below log event, every time, its reproducible consistently for me.

    Thank you for the diags.  Please retest with 6.11 stable which has update Samba.  I was able to perform a complete TM backup from wife's iMac to an Unraid server using 6.11.

    1 thing to note, I did test with and without encryption set up in time machine and the non-encrypted test worked, so its just the encrypted backup thats causing the above trace.

    I have the same problem on Unraid 6.11.0. I'm using encrypted btrfs disks and am trying to do an encrypted Time Machine back-up and am unable to complete (or even start) a Time Machine backup. My logs look similar to those of the other users, it appears that the samba daemon is crashing.

     

    Without Time Machine encryption enabled, the backup does start successfully.

    Priority Definitions

     

    Minor = Something not working correctly.

     

    Urgent = Server crash, data loss, or other showstopper.

     

    Annoyance = Doesn't affect functionality but should be fixed.

     

    Other = Announcement or other non-issue.
