• [6.9.0-beta35] Can't boot i915 using new method without monitor

    Since 6.8.3 I've used a modprobe call in config/go to load the i915 drivers.

    In beta35 this still works (with or without a monitor connected.)

     

    The new method however (touch /boot/config/modprobe.d/...) only works with a monitor connected. Without a monitor it doesn't boot to a point where I can ssh and investigate.

    This appears to be fixed in 6.9.0-rc1 but I base that only on one successful reboot. I'll keep monitoring and close the report if it doesn't reoccur.

    Closing this because I don't think it's unRAID-specific. Maybe it's the new kernel or new driver but I had a bunch of video-related problems (including system freezes) until I added intel_iommu=on,igfx_off to syslinux config and installed a dummy HDMI plug. It's been stable since.
