    Thanks for your reply, but please ppl stop asking those questions.

    There's No reason using smart data with spun down disks and as you can see, console smartctl is showing smart data.

    So guess what? Disks not spun down...

    😮 Point taken, but you can run Smartctl with the drives spun down.

    Only "-i" reports anything if "-n standby" also specified.  Odd because the I/O driver increments "number of sectors read" each time "smartctl -in standby" is executed on a spun down disk.  /sys/block/sdX/stat

    I guess the sector count covers bytes being transferred even for non media based commands i.e. control requests to the controllers.
