• [6.9.0-RC2] Callbacks related to netfilter, and kernel panics

    These keep cropping up on RC2.  I've had a couple of callbacks related to netfilter, as well as some kernel panics.  Two examples posted as well as my diagnostics file, however note that at the time of this diag file I had stopped my Shinobi Pro docker container which I could swear is the catalyst.  I am leaving Shinobi disabled to see if unRAID stays up longer.

     

    I mark this as "Urgent" only because system stability is really poor at the moment.

    I will add that Shinobi is running on a separate VLAN which is a subinterface of br0 (br0.12) and that br0 is a bridge on an Intel 10Gb/s NIC using the ixgbe module.

    I am also using multiple Docker containers, which have a custom static IP assinged to them and I am facing crashes of my Unraid server.

     

    Any of the three proposed solutions in the linked thread above are not viable solutions for me. I can not put my VMs and containers on a seperate VLAN because my router and switch does not support this. I also can not put my VMs and containers on seperate NIC, because i only have one network cable running to my server and i don't want to have a switch in front of it. And i also need to have seperate IPs for some containers, so i can prioritize traffic in my router between them.

     

    The interesting part for me is, that i am running my containers with static IPs since almost three years without any problems on all stable versions of Unraid, including latest stable 6.8.3. These system lookups first happend to me, after upgrading to 6.9.0-beta35 (first beta i have tested), so i would guess that this issue has been introduced with the beta versions and it should be resolved better sooner than later.

    OK I've changed Shinobi to use the normal bridge, no VLANs.  Traffic between Shinobi and the cameras is now being routed.  Let's see how stable it is.

    This issue is not occurring now that I have moved Shinobi Pro to the normal bridge and sharing the same IP address as the unRAID host.

     

    I can only ask the unRAID team to work on and solve this issue since it appears to have been around since 6.5.

    For me it's still relevant, as i don't have a VLAN active and it worked all fine brfore RC1...

    Thank you for that info, i just shut down the one docker that has a fixed IP. All other highly active containers are on the Server IP. 

    I will try with a separate VLAN soon.

    Anything i can do - can i build a newer kernel & install it ? is there a repo from unraid somewhere ? I would like to contribute in order to solve this - since it is quit annoying... 

    And since it seems to be in "NAT-SETUP_INFO" i think its not related to only macvlan. I was considering NAT to be stable since 2.0.36 .... not unstable with 5.x ???

     

    i will try now with all containers off except PLEX. Its crashing currently every 4-6 hours.

    My server also crashing. The same nf_conntrack_core.c macvlan errors. It will usually handle a couple of them then kernel panic.

     

    I will try disabling all custom IPs, but is it really expected that we cannot set a static IP or the server will crash every 4-6 hours? This bug continues for my in 6.9RC2.

     

    Not sure how having the containers on a separate VLAN will help since I set them as a static IP because they need to be accessible to my normal network (unifi controller, pihole, etc)

    In the meantime i updated to 6.9.2 but have the same issue. I disabled all dockers and just left a few in order to not trigger this. is there anything else recommended to check ?

    yes i can confirm, i have still the same issue. But in fact it really seems to be related to a dedicated IP i had set before. Now i am still monitoring it - but have not set enabled containers with dedicated IPs and so far its working.

    Same here. Crashing at random intervals, sometimes multiple times a day and always before a complete parity check is done. This all started after 6.9.1 for me.

     

    UPDATE: Was a new bios update available and so far it seems stable (4 hours).

    In my case, it was caused by my 10GbE Aquantia NIC. Update its firmware to an "unofficial" one and it's been stable for days now. Used to crash once or twice per day before, with the similar calltrace as everyone else.

    Havin the same issue on a dell PowerEdge r710 with a Intel Corporation 82599ES 10-Gigabit card in.

     

    Did anyone get this resolved as I'm getting multiple crashes per day

    These traces are usually the result of having dockers with a custom IP address, upgrading to v6.10 and switching to ipvlan should fix it (Settings -> Docker Settings -> Docker custom network type -> ipvlan (advanced view must be enable, top right)).

    Retest = Please retest in latest release.


    Priority Definitions

     

    Minor = Something not working correctly.

     

    Urgent = Server crash, data loss, or other showstopper.

     

    Annoyance = Doesn't affect functionality but should be fixed.

     

    Other = Announcement or other non-issue.
