    Hi

     

    I connected a flash drive to the system and UD detected.

    It took a while for the page to refresh i.e. 20-30secs

     

    At this point the parity drive sdk had spun up and I have 4 drives showing in the UD on dashboard.

    Dev4 is sdk

    i have attached syslog for period of plugin.

     

    Unplugging flash drive Parity drive now shows active on dashboard and dev 3 and 4 disappear.

    further testing I had sdk spun up. and issue didnt appear.

    Additional info. Added 2nd flash drive.

     

    With UD installed shows as sdn

    Post the output of this command:

    cat /usr/local/emhttp/state/devs.ini

    The devices Unraid sees as unassigned are listed in this file.

     

    Then run this command and show the output from the above command:

    /usr/local/sbin/emcmd 'cmdHotplug=apply'

    Once I see the output from the devs.ini file before and after, I will know where to go with this issue.

    I need to see the output exactly as I asked in the previous post.  Don't install or uninstall UD.  Just run the three commands and show the results.  UD doesn't matter in this case.

     

    The before and after results tells me where the issue lies.

    Ok.  I think this is an Unraid related issue,  Try one more thing for me.  Remove the UD plugin, shutdown the array, and then see if the unassigned devices get straightened out.

    Yes..

    But as soon as the hotplug update is called it adds the parity and spin it up.

    With testing with @dlandon it was this call. Even without UD plugin un-installed it created a new dev4 which was the parity.

     

    Have removed UD and SAS Spindown.

    Testing carried out.

     

    Remove UD plugin, SAS Spindown plugin and the two iscsi ones.

     

    Reboot system.

     

    After reboot no temps showing, press spinup, all now showing temps and all disks spinning.

     

    run /usr/local/sbin/emcmd 'cmdHotplug=apply' 

     

    No change in displays either Dash or Main. Connect flash drive, run cmd flash drive appears, remove flash run cmd flash disappears. 

     

    Spindown all drives.

     

    call cmd without adding flash. Parity drive spins up, Dev4 appears. Following in syslog.

    Dev4 shows as spinning in UDs

     

    Spinup drives. All spin up Parity shows as standby, but Dev4 is spinning.

    With all disks spinning call cmd again returns to normal display.

    Attached is a compiled current version of smartctl R5131 with the fix for SEAGATE drives and the wrappers I for hdparm and smartctl in /usr/sbin. Also a version of sdspin using smartctl options.

    for status on sdspin are you looking at the output as well as the return code. I have noticed that my version of sdspin works, but it gets call every second for the one of the ATA drives and I can see usage. I am using smartctl -n standby so STANDBY is in the text rather than standby, RET is 2. if I change command executed for status to hdparm the issue stops.

    I have been assigned to look at this issue and see where it stands.  We are working through support issues and this has come up.  I apologize for not getting back sooner.

     

    Let me spend some time looking over your post and see if we can't figure out what's going on.  In all my testing with UD I've never seen this come up.  It doesn't mean it's not an issue, just that I've not seen it yet.
