Intel 10Gbit Ethernet is not functioning properly in build 6.5.1-rc4

Using a x520 in single port configuration.

    Please revert changes ASAP.

Tested with 2 browsers and SMB file transfer.

    Previous build has NO issues.

Last build uses this driver: ixgbe: Intel(R) 10 Gigabit PCI Express Network Driver - version 5.1.0-k

    No issues with that driver.

Could this be a distro (Slackware) issue using the intel based driver vs the old 5.1 we have now?

No we explicitly replaced the in-tree ixgbe driver with the latest from Intel download site.  As it says in announcement post, this is experimental.

What output do you need from me, I can always re-install rc4 and slowly capture the information.

The fact it doesn't work out of the box is enough.  We'll revert and generate an -rc5.  Probably the Intel driver relies on an admin tool to configure it properly.

Well if you can capture diagnostics.zip I'll take a look, maybe something else interfering.

if you need someone to debug it for a future release, I will help.

As long as I can revert back to previous builds :)

    Ok. i will grab a diganostics.zip

Ok i updated my adapter to latest Intel(R) Boot Agent XE v2.4.16

and did a few iperf tests.

    It appears it works now.

Possible a very old version of firmware combined with newest driver caused the issues?

Maybe someone else with a x520 can chime in?

That's fantastic!  We'll wait for a while longer for additional reports before deciding if/when to revert the driver.

    Yes i would too.

Intel is notorious for doing firmware/version checks on modules and cards.

This was one of the "fixes" in a driver version past 5.1

    - Fix FW passthrough mode checking to avoid shutting down the PHY. - Fix link detection after swapping SFP+ modules.

I can write something up to show other x520 users how to update their card firmware if that needs to be done.
