    We've been holding back on this release a few days waiting for updated Intel ixgbe (10Gbit) OOT driver which builds correctly with 4.18 kernel.  But no update yet so this release uses 4.17.19 kernel.

    Really liking the new GUI look, maybe except the very large orange buttons, like already mentioned by others.

     

    I do have one request, but since there was talk of LT taking over the UD plugin soon not sure if I should still bothering @dlandonwith this, there's a lot of extra space between disks on UD compared to the array disks, the mount/unmount buttons could also be smaller.

     

    P.S. I was expecting (read hoping) for a few new features on 6.6, can we expect some during the various rc releases, à la 6.4 or will it be more like 6.5, i.e. mostly bugs and security fixes?

    I'm afraid I don't understand what you're saying. How are they overclocks? What is being overclocked? Do you mean XMP? XMP is disabled by default on AM4 motherboards and the fastest JEDEC timing is used: DDR-2133. I enable XMP and then choose either DDR-2666 or 2933, depending on the CPU (and the RAM, of course - I aim to buy DDR4-3000 at the moment but sometimes 3200 happens to be cheaper. I have some DDR4-2666, which I run at 2666. I buy RAM for each project and always choose from the motherboard vendor's QVL). Nothing is overclocked: the memory controller is in spec and the RAM is spec.

    Memory starts at the lowest most common settings for boards. You don’t get the rate out of the box, you have to set it. I can buy a GPU with an overclock too. Base frequency is what I’m referring to. Been an overclocker for years since my Athlon days. Yes its in spec but your point is moot. It registers at a set frequency when you install it. That’s the base setting. Anything above that even within spec is a overclock of sorts.

    [Edited to address John_M's complaint that I was making unfounded assumptions on his setup.  Bolded blue sentences below have been edited to clarify my original helpful intent.  I never mean to insinuate John_M was in fact overclocking, I had no way to know for sure and thought I had said as much later in my post, so that was a lazy choice of wording on my part.]

    They are not suggesting that you're overclocking the memory.  They are suggesting that you're overclocking the built-in memory controller in your Ryzen CPU.  Depending upon your actual memory configuration, you might be overclocking it by quite a bit, or not at all.

     

    For example, on my Ryzen 7 1800X, I'm running my memory at 2400, which sounds low but it is definitely overclocked.  The RAM itself is rated for 2400, so the RAM isn't overclocked.  But my memory, 4x 16GB sticks, is Dual Rank, so I'm presenting the highest possible memory load on the 1800X.

     

    Here's AMD's non-overclocked supported memory speeds for Ryzen 1st generation:

    • 2666 MHz for 2 Single Rank DIMMs in Dual Channel
    • 2400 MHz for 2 Dual Rank DIMMs in Dual Channel
    • 2133 MHz for 4 Single Rank DIMMs in Dual Channel
    • 1866 MHz for 4 Dual Rank DIMMs in Dual Channel

     

    As you can see, the non-overclocked speed for my memory configuration is 1866.  This is a memory controller limitation, not a RAM limitation.  By running them at 2400MHz, I have a 533MHz overclock on the memory controller.

     

    2666 may or may not be an overclock on your system, depending upon the number of sticks of RAM and whether they are Single Rank or Dual Rank.  But odds are that if you have anything other than 2 sticks of 8GB RAM (which are often Single Rank but not always), you are overclocked.

    Just a quick followup on this (predicting your next rebuttal):  The motherboard vendor's QVL list includes overclocked speeds.  They are simply communicating that they have successfully tested the memory at that speed, and provided the necessary BIOS support to enable it.

    Paul, I don't disagree with what you're saying, in general. But I do resent your assumption that you know more about what I'm doing than I do. I only ever use a maximum of two DIMMs and if I needed more capacity I would use dual rank if necessary and reduce the speed accordingly, but so far I haven't needed to do that.

    JEDEC profiles don't go above DDR-2133 so that's the speed it runs at out of the box. Enable XMP and you can run without overclocking anything at the lower of the rated RAM speed and the rated memory controller speed. The latter depends on the generation of the processor and the number of physical chips loading the bus, as Pauven implied. Anything faster is an overclock.

    It really is time for @limetech to incorporate the UD functionality.  I do not have the time nor the interest in updating UD for the new GUI.

    So the dynamix.plg is definitely an issue.  That has to be removed before the server will boot up properly.  I fixed that manually.

     

     

    Second issue I run into is the code I have in my GO file to autostart my encrypted array (see below) doesn't seem to be working as the array will not autostart (claiming it's missing the encryption key).

    mkdir -p /unlock
    mount -t cifs -o user=USER,password=PASSWORD,iocharset=utf8 //10.0.10.30/flash/temp /unlock
    cp -f /unlock/temp.png /root/keyfile
    umount /unlock
    rm -r /unlock

     

    EDIT:  When I run the commands manually, it tells me "Couldn't chdir to /unlock: No such file or directory" when I try to mount the cifs share.  I can't cd to it but I can see it in Midnight Commander but there is a period after it so it shows as /unlock.

    If somehow the /unlock. was created instead of /unlock that would explain behavior.  What do you mean by "cron job code in your GO file"?  Do you mean those lines are in your 'go' file or that you are setting up an actual cron job to execute?

    Ignore the cron part of that statement, that was a typo.  I just have that code in my GO file.  But I'm not understanding why the /unlock directory is all of a sudden not being created correctly.

    Ok I'll copy your code into a test server here and see what happens.  btw: I like this idea of yours to fetch keyfile from another machine (presumably) on your LAN.  This is effective theft protection, assuming thief doesn't take all your machines 😉

    Wish I could take credit but this was @bonienl's code.  In my case, the other machine is actually not on my LAN but instead on the other side of a Site-to-Site VPN I have between mine and my parents' home which is where my second (backup) unRAID server lives 😉.

    Interesting.  I just tried manually deleting the /unlock. directory and then recreating it.  It successfully created it without the period this time.  I just deleted it again and rebooted so lets see what happens.

    Ok, still no go on the auto start.  Now I get past the mkdir part but the mount of the cifs share fails.  I get the following error:

     

    mount error(115): Operation now in progress
    Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

    Ok, the issue was completely on my end.  I forgot I had made some firewall changes a few months back for my VPN connection.  I haven't had to reboot my server since.  So I just had to allow the CIFS ports in my firewall and now I'm up and running.  My sincere apologies @limetech for wasting your time.

    One thing I have read  few times and now after checking the Webgui on various monitors and a few browsers I agree the font although the perfect modern font is too large when using Chrome Canary its giant and on Chrome itself the happy point is at a zoom value of about 90% Firefox isn't much better things on my console 15" screen causes quite a bit of scrolling.

    maybe if its not too much trouble build in a font size option into settings to appease the masses? maybe even some font choices too. not too sure how hard that would be to implement.

    On a 24" screen (FHD or QHD) the font size is perfect. Do they still make such tiny low res screens?

    I have a few small issues.

     

    1.) I also ran into the non boot scenario with the dynamix.plg plugin.

     

    2.) My docker containers no longer have the option to launch their web apps directly when clicking  on them. See screenshot below.
