• /var/log is filling up to 100% by growing libvirtd.log

    • Minor

After the upgrade I noticed that my log slowly filled up. When investigating I found that the libvirtd.log was filled with error entries:

virConnectNumOfStoragePools:164 : this function is not supported by the connection driver: virConnectNumOfStoragePools

ok so far so good... log not filling up with errors, few errors before I manually started array. but no errors after.

    docker running, VM running.

    no errors.

k so how do i get a list of currently installed plugins, and,
how do I figure out which one is the issue?

i would assume first step is boot into normal mode?

Possibly unrelated but why do you have 50G docker.img? Have you had problems filling it? 20G is usually more than enough, and making it larger won't fix filling it, it will only make it take longer to fill.

The usual cause of filling docker.img is an application configured to write to a path that isn't mapped.

    On your Plugins page?

well yeah i know about that... its not exactly a list that can be copy/pasted for help....

was hoping there was a terminal command or something...  lol wow... i've turned a corner... hoping for terminal commands... mind blown....

Loading of each plugin is controlled by there being a .plg file for the plugin in the config/plugins folder on the flash drive.   Renaming these to have a different extension and then rebooting is a way to control which plugins are loaded.

I was seeing similar messages in libvirtd.log and fixed the issue in next release; however, i wasn't seeing them continuously output filling the log.

Please retest once new release is posted (soon).

Same here, a couple of days ago I update and getting flood with these messages:

021-10-12 17:34:57.980+0000: 20738: error : virConnectNumOfDefinedStoragePools:244 : this function is not supported by the connection driver: virConnectNumOfDefinedStoragePools

A Temporary Workaround to prevent Log from filling up to 100% with messages this command flush the logs:

    rm /var/log/libvirt/libvirtd.log
    virt-admin daemon-log-outputs ""
