• [6.10.0 & 6.10.1] Array Devices Names Changed

    When upgrading from 6.9.2, the names of 4 out of 6 array devices change and I can't start the array. I have assigned the proper drives, but there does not seem to be a way to correct it. Any ideas? For now, it looks as though reverting to 6.9.2 got us back up.

    You can do the following:

    • Tools->New Config, select the option to keep all assignments;
    • return to the Main tab and correct the ones using old names to use the new ones
    • tick the ‘parity is valid’ checkbox
    • start the array to commit the new names and everything should come up as normal

    This has been happening with at least a couple of different controllers that were using long names for SATA devices, short names is what they should show, this way if in the future you replace the controller with a different one no need for a new config, also please post the diagnostics so we can see what controller you're using.

    I will attach the diag.

    This is one of the known controllers that this can happen to, but only because it's using a very old firmware:

    May 26 09:42:16 ES-unRaid kernel: mpt3sas_cm0: LSISAS3008: FWVersion(05.00.00.00), ChipRevision(0x02), BiosVersion(08.11.00.00)

    If you updated the firmware while on an older Unraid release you'd see the same thing, and note that you should still update the firmware now, since many issues have been fixed since that one, IIRC current release is 16.00.12.00
