[6.12.6] Strange disk error on POOL disk (all shares are gone or empty)

  • Closed

Hello there,

today I observed a very strange behaviour of the system.

I have an  external USB box with four HDD in it (ICY BOX IB-3640SU3 External 4 Bay JBOD System for 3.5) - one disk is for the parity, two are for data (part of the array) and the last one is used  to store my NVR recordings - it is a special type NVR disk and is NOT a member of the array (I don't need constant party calculation for NVR files).

I have a number of shares - both hosted on the array and on that NVR disk.

Today when I checked the system, all shares that were located on the NVR disk were EMPTY and they were R/O.

They were visible in the Windows Explorer, I could enter them but I could not see any content.
On top of that they disappeared from Unraid GUI!  Log had a bunch of very strange errors.

At the same time all files in the shares located on the array were intact and visible.

However once I rebooted the system, everything came back to normal - all shares reappeared in Unraid gui, all content became visible again in Windows explorer and everything came back to normal.

I do not know how to reproduce the error.

Attaching two archives - one when the issue was happenning and the second one after the system was rebooted and everything came back to normal.

P.S. The NVR disk is a brand new disk, has been used for a couple of months, SMART does not have any errors and short SMART test was

completed without error.
