[6.12.6] Unraid server unstable as a result of VM, Need help diagnosing/repairing

  • Closed

Hey all,

I spent all of yesterday, 9/12, manually trying to figure this out with unfortunately no luck. I received several blue screens yesterday morning on my VM, each typically with a different error code and eventually ended up hard clean-reinstalling windows and wiping my main C drive, a 1 tb nvme drive passedthrough to the VM. I was hoping for this to be the fix, as the blue screens pointed to something being fundamentally wrong with the windows operating system. It is important to note that about half the time, these blue screens crashed just the VM and other times it took out the entire server, leading to a hard manual restart in either instance. (I'll update the comments or edit this post should additional blue screens pop up, as well as their codes if I can catch them in time)

Now, however, I am still experiencing instability in my system. I left my VM on overnight and woke up to a crash that had happened and frozen both the VM and Server in general at around 3:30am.

Currently, I'm unsure what has changed between yesterday and the day before to cause such random instability and have no clue on where to start trying to diagnose this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
