• 6.8.3 - Lost Drive Temps

    • Annoyance

I have 2 unraid servers that use ST32000444SS drives. Upgraded one and lost hard drive temps. Upgrade my main server which has a mixture of ST8000NM0075 (reporting temps) and ST32000444SS (not reporting). They were working in 6.8.2 and after the update no temp readings from ST32000444SS drives.

    Server 1 - Dell R420 - Perc 310 Flashed IT - 4x ST32000444SS - 96GB Ram - 2x E5-2430 v2

    Server 2 - Dell R720XD - Perc 710 Flashed IT - 8x ST8000NM0075 4x - ST32000444SS 2x Samsung 860 EVO (reporting Temps as well) - 192GB Ram - 2x E5-2660 v2

Please post the diagnostics but this is like a smartctl issue, not an Unraid one, also please change priority from urgent, see definitions on the right side

Like suspected this is a smartctl issue, there was another user with a similar issue before, it's not reporting any temp for those drives:

=== START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION ===
    SMART Health Status: OK
    Current Drive Temperature: 0 C
    Drive Trip Temperature: 0 C

v6.8.3 uses smartctl v7.1, v6.8.2 uses v7.0, so you'll need to wait for a smarctl fix, or if it takes a while LT can downgrade back to v7.0 for now on upcoming release(s).

One would think since they are both sas drives they both wouldn't work but seems these are OLD and probably unsupported
