Think this is a bug rather than user error.. I ran into something similar a few days ago.

 

I tried to change my dns from 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 but it wouldnt save so then I put in 8.8.8.8 and hit apply. 

 

I then noticed my routing settings had changed but I didnt know from what just that it looked different.

 

Took me a while to figure it out.. It had changed my gateway settings (the setting above DNS).
