• Docker tab constantly says "Please wait... starting up containers"

    • Solved Minor

I updated from 6.8.3 to 6.9.0, and when I started my array I noticed my docker containers were taking a very long time to start up.  Only two had started, so I began to manually start them all.  After manually starting them, I noticed the message saying "Please wait... starting up containers" is still at the top.  It also frequently has the orange loading animation in the middle preventing me from clicking (it feels like it's trying to start all the started containers?).

I would put this in the annoyance category, but every time the loading animation comes up (every 5-10 seconds) it loads for about a second and a half, preventing me from clicking anything.  This is preventing me from working as fast, so I feel like it is slightly higher than annoyance.

I've tried disabling all the autostart switches, but that didn't fix it either.  It started last night, so overnight I left the docker tab up thinking maybe it had to load.  This morning it still is trying to start up the containers though.

You guys do an amazing job, I really appreciate all the updates!  I love all the new features you added.  If anyone has a temporary workaround idea I am open to suggestions!  Thanks!

Your system share exists only on disk #1, and you'd probably want it to be stored within a cache pool, as docker isn't a speed demon when running on the array.

Stop Docker and the VM service (Settings - Docker, Settings - VM) then set the system share to be Use Cache:prefer and then run mover from Main, Array Operations.  Once its done, re-enable the services

You've got a 5 minute wait after plex before the system continues or says that all containers are done (if there's nothing after plex to start)

Apr 14 20:14:41 Tower rc.docker: plex: started succesfully!
    Apr 14 20:14:41 Tower rc.docker: plex: wait 320 seconds

That 320 second roughly corresponds with when you grabbed the diagnostics

Thanks for quick response. I should have given it some more though before posting.

Sorry for taking up your time. Keep up the great work. 👍
