Unraid 7.1.3 - Cannot boot to Unraid after initial startup

  • Closed

Description:

Starting Unraid 7.1.3 for the first time works, but starting a second time after first shutdown fails. The system will not boot and my motherboard displays the error code F6 (Reserved for future AMI progress codes). Attempting to start multiple times does not help. I have tried to make three unique flash disks and they all produce the same problem. I used Unraid USB Creator 1.0.1 to load Unraid 7.1.3. Booting to Windows works fine.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Use Unraid USB Creator 1.0.1 to erase a USB flash drive.

  2. Make a bootable flash drive with Unraid USB Creator 1.0.1.

  3. Start the server in Unraid GUI.

  4. Shut down the server from the GUI.

  5. Start the server again.

  6. You should see a black screen and the F6 (or equivalent) error on your motherboard.

Environment:

OS: Unraid 7.1.3

Unraid USB Creator: 1.0.1

Hardware:

CPU: Intel Core i9-14900K

RAM: 128 GB (Kingston 4x32GB ECC Registered DDR5 4800 PC5 38400)

Motherboard: ASUS PRO WS W680-ACE IPMI

Unraid USB flash disk: Samsung FIT Plus 3.1

Logs:

Additional Context:

All of the flash disks were of the same type and brand. Regardless the likelihood of all of them failing is very slim.
