  • Upgrade to 6.12.x causes instability

    Hello,

I've been trying for days to upgrade to 6.12.x and the server does upgrade without any issues. However, I have a seemingly random timeframe before it locks up and does not ever respond to pings again. I have to powercycle it to get it running again. Please see the attached diagnostics, I am desperate to get these issues resolved.

There appear to be macvlan related crashes.    As mentioned in the releases notes if you want to continue using macvlan for docker networking then you should disable bridging on eth0.    The alternative is to switch docker to using ipvlan networking instead.

Nothing obvious logged in the last syslog, there are some ATA issues with this pool device:

    (sde) Samsung_SSD_860_EVO_M.2_250GB_S413NC0R101418N

Since it's M.2 there aren't cables to replace, try swapping slots with a different one to see if the issues follow the device.

For the crashing, one more thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.

Alright, Thanks for your dedication to helping me fix these issues. I have the server running (for now) in safe mode. I will give it some time before re-enabling docker and VMs.
