VM with IOMMU group passthrough causes Unraid OS to hang after upgrading from 7.0.0 to 7.1.4.

  • Annoyance

Issue:

Old working VM with IOMMU group passthrough causes Unraid OS to hang after upgrading from 7.0.0 to 7.1.4.

Info:

After upgrade Unraid to 7.1.4 system became unaccessible, to drill down and find root cause I found that "Falisafe GUI mode" was the way to access Unraid again. Everything works until I start one specific VM, this VM is normally configured in autostart mode. The difference between this VM compared to other is that it have two PCIe devices as resources. Whitout the PCIe devices VM starts not causing any issues, but with these PCIe devices Unraid seems to hang immediately when starting VM.

Unraid stops responding to ping and Unraid VNC-console on server freezes.

Tried to recreate VM and reboot several times but didn't find any solution, after downgrading to 7.0.0 it works again without any issues.
