  1. Hello, I would like to thank the unraid team that created the product For me it is simply awesome I'm a one year Unraid user and I want to share, a little, my thoughts about the server. I had some prior experience with linux(debian/ubuntu based mostly) but I always wanted something like Unraid that has both the liberty for creating scripts/custom stuff from linux console and to have predefined stuff in an interface to get repetitive things done fast (here I'm thinking dockers and community applications). Intentionally I left out the virtualisation because for me this was a selling point I was in a period where I tried to do that on my own with Fedora and stuff and it was a big hassle ... when I tried unraid and it did that out of the box ... I never looked back Bottom line now I have dockers and vm-s for everything I wanted and now with the added pools my life is even better. PS. Many many thanks to the Unraid team.

  2. I finally got all the UPS stats showing properly. The hold up was something stupid, as is often the case. I installed the Grafana-Unraid-Stack (GUS) from @testdasi while using UUD as the dashboard. For some reason, I could not get the UPS stats to show no matter what I did. Edited telegraf.conf to add [[inputs.acpupsd]], deleted telegraf.conf and forced an update on GUS which supposedly downloaded a new telegraf.conf with apcupsd enabled, etc. Nothing. Then I realized the mistake. Two years ago, I installed Grafana, Influxdb and Telegraf docker containers to play around with setting up an unRAID dashboard. It was taking too much time and I had other priorities so I deleted the docker containers; however, the folders were still in appdata with their contents including telegraf.conf. I had been editing and deleting the wrong file!!! The telegraf.conf file that matters is in appdata/Grafana-Unraid-Stack/telegraf. I deleted the old stand-alone folders and their contents and enabled [[inputs.apcupsd]] editing the telegraf.conf in the correct folder and voila!, UPS stats in UUD. After adding the cost per kwh and the max wattage of the UPS in UUD, everything is now working as it should be with customizations for my hardware. Thanks to @falconexe and @testdasi (and @GilbN) for making this all so simple. I remember what a pain it was two years ago which is why I eventually moved on to other things. Now I have a really good looking dashboard based on an extremely easy to install and use docker container stack without all the manual messing around in myriad config files.

  3. Hi team UNRAID Whilst I'm waiting for 6.9 final to release (soon i hope), I thought I'd look at ways of speeding up VM disks on my 3Gbps NVME drive and exposing shares set up in UNRAID so that I could access them directly from a VM instead of using the 1GBps/10Gbps virtual NIC. Research led me to this article https://www.reddit.com/r/VFIO/comments/eryb71/best_storage_for_vfiokvmqemu_experiment_results/ and https://virtio-fs.gitlab.io/howto-qemu.html I'm interested to know if virtio-fs can be made available in UNRAID so that shares can be access directly from a VM?

  4. ok seems to be a config issue. With keeping it completly original besides the key and super.dat it is booting and I was able to get quick and dirty the needed backup at least. Now the hunt begins finding last changed/defect/weird config. Way less nervous now The real weird thing starting it wthout plugins did not helped.

  6. A consideration for those of us who don't have 43" 4k monitors (which I would imagine to be the significant majority of your audience ). Remove the word "Storage" from the top utilization boxen: On my 24" 1920x1280 monitor, I see a series of "Array Storage ..." "Array Storage ..." because the titles are too long for the box size. The same is true for the Cache storage text: Yes, I can edit the titles (and have done so for the first 2, leaving the rest as examples), but I think that the vast majority of folk will be able to figure out that an "Array Total" measured in "TB" refers to "storage" without having to be explicitly told. And for those that can't, do you really want the support nightmares of them asking eleventy-seven bajillion questions? (He asks checking his post count on this thread, noting it's approaching eleventy-two bajillion... )

  9. so after testing a while now with only one kit installed it seems to be running. I think one of the RAM modules was not working correctly. Memtest was showing no errors but whenever I added this module the server crashed after a while. I returned this kit. Guess this thread can be closed now. Thanks a lot for your support JorgeB

  10. If you need to try the default config you can restore the key file and super.dat, both on the config folder. Syslog stops after loading all the plugins, before starting GUI and other services, another thing you can try, before redoing the flash, is to boot in safe mode.

  11. Just tried your rTorrent container & tested a radarr addition, got speeds at the level I'd expect when downloading (roughly 8-10Mib/s, which is a far cry from the 600Kib/s I was getting in Deluge😂). I'll have a look at setting that up properly to use for the time being, & keep Deluge on for nextgen testing for now. Edit: spoke too soon - seem to have gone back to having a global DL rate of ~600Kib/s. Must be PIA, but still annoying why others are showing much faster rates in line with their connection speed than I seem to be able to achieve when it's specifically through unraid torrent dockers 😕

  12. This happens mostly everytime apple updates its catalogue; Catalina 10.15.7 was recently released, the docker must be updated to be pointed to the right product id. New product id should be 001-51042 for Catalina 10.15.7 full installer.

  15. Boot process isn't finishing, try redoing the flash drive with your config (backup config folder then restore), if it still doesn't boot try a new config.

  16. @ghost82 Stole some downtime as wanted to test it fast. Worked like a charm . You rock dude !!. Now this %^%$ piece of software finally also runs fine after my en0 is seen as internal. (actually the software is amazing, but its apples crap again) Damn apple. But they are not unique. In the past i have seen even on enterprice level software licenses been tied to an internal ethernet card. Then you replaced the card and license broke.

  19. As an alternative you can inject the builtin property in opencore: First of all check that your ethrnet card is recognized as en0 in macOS; if this is not the case delete the network properties (you can find easily how to do it in google), attach only the ethernet card and reboot, so that macOS will pick up the card as en0. Download the release version of gfxutil. It's here: https://github.com/acidanthera/gfxutil/releases/download/1.80b/gfxutil-1.80b-RELEASE.zip Unzip it in the vm, open the terminal, cd to the extracted folder and run: ./gfxutil -f ethernet This will output the address of your ethernet(s) Output should be similar to this: 02:01.0 8086:100f /PCI0@0/S08@1/pci-bridge@0/ethernet@1 = PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0) Mount the EFI partition, open the config file located at /EFI/OC/config.plist and set the following: Find DeviceProperties and inject the built in property for your network, you should have something like this: <key>DeviceProperties</key> <dict> <key>Add</key> <dict/> <key>Delete</key> <dict/> </dict> Replace with: <key>DeviceProperties</key> <dict> <key>Add</key> <dict> <key>PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)</key> <dict> <key>built-in</key> <data>AQ==</data> </dict> </dict> <key>Delete</key> <dict/> </dict> Change only the PciRoot address to that of the output of the gfxutil. By doing this you are telling opencore to inject the property "buil-in" with a value of AQ== (it's base64, converted to decimal is 1, boolean=true) into address PciRoot()...., which is the ethernet card. Now if you have IORegistry Explorer (https://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/IORegistryExplorer.shtml) and you run it and you search for "en0" you will see on the right the built-in property set to "true".

  20. And I usually do this as well, but, I missed those. When I installed GUS, I did not even notice it was a different container folder at first and was just looking at the old ones. I am old so I have an excuse for my diminishing gray matter (or so I like to tell myself). 😁

  21. That will do it ha ha. Been there, done that (in my earlier UNRAID days). It happens. I always go rm -rfv (be careful...) the old appdata folder once I delete a docker for this very reason. Also helps if you want to use the same Docker name in the future. That way your not messing with the old folder. Really glad you finally got this to work. Happy for you man. My goal with creating the UUD was to empower the masses with an easy, sexy, and out of the box solution (as much as possible). We are getting a ton of great feedback across the world where people are finally getting back into Grafana, or just now realizing this is possible. It's a great feeling to know people actually like your work and are excited about it as much as we are! 😄

  23. Not that I am aware of. There are some things that even us developers are waiting for the Grafana vendor to add as features to the tool. If you come across an update or a way to add this in via back end code, let me know and I will be happy to add this. One thought on Windows 10 is that you can run both instances in Kiosk mode by putting the tabs in 2 separate windows, and then just pin them with the Window + Up/Down/Left/Right key combo. Sometimes I run production and dev vertically stacked like this when I am actively developing. But I have a 43 inch monitor so it is big enough to not lose detail. You could also do side-by-side. Just a possible work around...

  24. Since that should be a part of the default tutorial that GilbN created (his website), that I linked in the Resources section in Post #3, I did not add it. However, you make a good point, and I can see how others might miss that, so I will add those explicitly to the Dependencies section in Post #1. Congrats, you are now an Official UUD CONTRIBUTOR (You are now listed as such on Post #1) 🤝🥳

  25. As an alternate to IPMI to monitor CPU/System/Aux Temps, you can try the Sensors Plugin. Enable [[inputs.sensors]] in the Telegraf Config (Uncomment It) Bash into the Telegraf Docker and Execute "apk add lm_sensors" Stop All 3 Dockers (Grafana > Telegraf > InfluxDB) If You Want to Keep This Plugin in Perpetuity, You Will Need to Modify Your Telegraf Docker Post Arguments To (Adding lm_sensors): "/bin/sh -c 'apk update && apk upgrade && apk add ipmitool && apk add smartmontools && apk add lm_sensors && telegraf'" Start All 3 Dockers (InfluxDB > Telegraf > Grafana) Let me know if that works for you.

  27. It's not just speed that make TB3 useful. I'd really like to be able to use a cheap SFF computer and attach a portable disk array such as one of these next to it. There are not many elegant case designs around with proper hot swap capability, drive status indicators at the front. Most seem to top out at about 4-6 bays, have plastic drive bays, no status lights, poor cooling and such and on top of that be quite expensive. This would be a great addition for unraid. I also like the idea of being able to run one cable from my Unraid box in the cupboard, to my screen, keyboard, monitor and headphones. On top of that, it's a cheap 10G network card from my Mac, except it's 40G not 10! Thunderbolt gives the advantage of not having to use the long standing always poor cousin of transports (USB) so that you can support ALL the protocols required by the storage. Anyone ever tried to get trim support running over USB? Also, did you see the speed of transfer you can get in that link above? Pretty awesome. When USB4 does come along, I suspect, the thunderbolt driver will still need to exist separately anyway. Now that the Licencing of thunderbolt is open and it's based on a standard port, I very much believe TB will become the standard in a few years.

Haha i'm looking at the code https://github.com/binhex/arch-rtorrentvpn/commit/4aeb0bb40542d8450bfb21dcc1c16978c6640ff0 I see what you mean, this would have been much easier with a real programming language. Python would have worked perfectly for this. Anyway, thanks for your help. I managed to get it working a week ago and it hasn't disconnected since so I plan on updating when it goes down, thank!

  36. OK guys, multi remote endpoint support is now in for this image please pull down the new image (this change will be rolled out to all my vpn images shortly). What this means is that the image will now loop through the entire list, for example, pia port forward enabled endpoints, all you need to do is edit your ovpn config file and add the remote endpoints at the top and sort into the order you want them to be tried, an example pia ovpn file is below (mine):- remote ca-toronto.privateinternetaccess.com 1198 udp remote ca-montreal.privateinternetaccess.com 1198 udp remote ca-vancouver.privateinternetaccess.com 1198 udp remote de-berlin.privateinternetaccess.com 1198 udp remote de-frankfurt.privateinternetaccess.com 1198 udp remote france.privateinternetaccess.com 1198 udp remote czech.privateinternetaccess.com 1198 udp remote spain.privateinternetaccess.com 1198 udp remote ro.privateinternetaccess.com 1198 udp client dev tun resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-key # -----faster GCM----- cipher aes-128-gcm auth sha256 ncp-disable # -----faster GCM----- tls-client remote-cert-tls server auth-user-pass credentials.conf comp-lzo verb 1 crl-verify crl.rsa.2048.pem ca ca.rsa.2048.crt disable-occ I did look at multi ovpn file support, but this is easier to do and as openvpn supports multi remote lines, it felt like the most logical approach. note:- Due to ns lookup for all remote lines, and potential failure and subsequent try of the next remote line, time to initialisation of the app may take longer. p.s. I dont want to talk about how difficult this was to shoe horn in, i need to lie down in a dark room now and not think about bash for a while :-), any issues let me know!.
