  1. DEVELOPER UPDATE: 😂 But for real guys, I'm going to be stepping away from the UUD for the foreseeable future. I have a lot going on in my personal life (divorce among other stuff) and I just need a break. This thing is getting too large to support by myself. And it is getting BIG. Maybe too big for one dash. I have plenty of ideas for 1.7, but not even sure if you guys will want/use them. Not to mention the updates that would be required to support InfluxDB 2.X. At this point, it is big enough to have most of what people need, but adaptable enough for people to create custom panels to add (mods). Maybe I'll revisit this in a few weeks/months and see where my head is at. It has been an enjoyable ride and I appreciate ALL of your support/contributions since September of 2020. That being said @LTM and I (mostly him LOL) were working on a FULL Documentation website. Hey man, please feel free to host/release/introduce that effort here on the official forum. I give you my full blessing to take on the "support documentation/Wiki" mantel, if you still want it. I appreciate your efforts in this area. If LTM is still down, you guys are going to be impressed! I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to @GilbN for his original dash which 1.0-1.2 was based on and ALL of his help/guidance/assistance over the last few months. It has truly been a great and pleasurable experience working with you man! Finally, I want to say a huge thanks to the UNRAID community and its leadership @SpencerJ @limetech. You guys supported and shared my work with the masses, and I am forever grateful! I am an UNRAIDer 4 LIFE! THANKS EVERYONE!

  2. This release contains bug fixes and minor improvements. To upgrade: First create a backup of your USB flash boot device: Main/Flash/Flash Backup If you are running any 6.4 or later release, click 'Check for Updates' on the Tools/Update OS page. If you are running a pre-6.4 release, click 'Check for Updates' on the Plugins page. If the above doesn't work, navigate to Plugins/Install Plugin, select/copy/paste this plugin URL and click Install: https://s3.amazonaws.com/dnld.lime-technology.com/stable/unRAIDServer.plg Bugs: If you discover a bug or other issue in this release, please open a Stable Releases Bug Report. Thank you to all Moderators, Community Developers and Community Members for reporting bugs, providing information and posting workarounds. Please remember to make a flash backup! Edit: FYI - we included some code to further limit brute-force login attempts; however, fundamental changes to certain default settings will be made starting with 6.10 release. Unraid OS has come a long way since originally conceived as a simple home NAS on a trusted LAN. It used to be that all protocols/shares/etc were by default "open" or "enabled" or "public" and if someone was interested in locking things down they would go do so on case-by-case basis. In addition, it wasn't so hard to tell users what to do because there wasn't that many things that had to be done. Let's call this approach convenience over security. Now, we are a more sophisticated NAS, application and VM platform. I think it's obvious we need to take the opposite approach: security over convenience. What we have to do is lock everything down by default, and then instruct users how to unlock things. For example: Force user to define a root password upon first webGUI access. Make all shares not exported by default. Disable SMBv1, ssh, telnet, ftp, nfs by default (some are already disabled by default). Provide UI for ssh that lets them upload a public key and checkbox to enable keyboard password authentication. etc. We have already begun the 6.10 cycle and should have a -beta1 available soon early next week (hopefully).

  4. With E-bay and LSI cards, you are buying the vendor. Look at the Vendor's reputation. See what his policy is on returns. You could ask a question of him to see what his response is and how quickly he answers you. Look to see how long he has been a E-bay vendor. There are a lot of the older LSI cards that are advertised as 'New'. Well that is a sure sign that they are counterfeit! (LSI has 'disappeared' as a separate company several years ago. You can find online that the rights now belong to Broadcom. You can find what they currently make here: https://www.broadcom.com/products/storage ) However, Broadcom apparently still sells those older chip sets and several(?) Chinese companies have copied the design of the older LSI boards (right down to the paper labels used on the genuine cards)! These boards are usually referred to as counterfeit as the true origin is being concealed. And no one has any idea what the quality level of these cards are. (Remember that while genuine LSI chips are (probably) used, everything else is sourced elsewhere.) Some of these manufacturers may produce a quality product but without his identifying marking on the board, there is no way for a average consumer to figure out what he is getting! An long term E-bay vendor, with a reputation to protect, will be vetting his sources carefully to protect it.

  11. For now forget about increasing or evaluating security and GET THOSE THINGS BACKED UP. Once you have offline backup of items you can't afford to lose, then start dealing with the rest of this. Once you have a backup strategy in place, then you can start evaluating open ports and examining the security of each of the answering services. Of course all this assumes you haven't put your server in the DMZ or anything like that.

  12. No. The system is reporting what is connected, that does not mean that Linux has a driver for it or that it will load. Tehuti tn40xx drivers do not build and load with current Linux kernels. From the spec for the card: Chipset: Tehuti Networks TN4010 That is one of the drivers that unRAID 6.9.x does not support because it will not build in Linux.

  18. don't buy from China. they are usually fake especially when talking about older ICs. go for a part from EU and pay a fair price. A 9211-8i is around 45 Euros in EU. a 9207-8i is around 80-90Euros. if you buy a counterfeit, you risk breaking your mb or end up with a 22Euros paperweight.

  24. I think in theory you can dynamically stub it, but a lot of the problems I had pre the isolation feature were caused by a terminal or docker latching onto it and never letting go (which causes the VM to error with "busy" if I remember correctly). I would definitely recommend keeping it isolated and just doing whatever work you need in the VM until SR-IOV goes a bit more mainstream, which as I understand will resolve the issue by allowing vGPU slices to be allocated.

  27. Starting with 6.9, Unraid is controlling UD disk spin down. Because preclear activity is not being tracked as disk activity, Unraid sets the disk as spun down. It's really not spun down, but Unraid thinks it is. When this happens, UD does not get the temp, or r/w stats for the disk from Unraid to display. It's really only a visual thing and doesn't affect the preclear operation. There is currently no plan to change this.

  28. Those logs line up with what @gfjardim said above, and I think they're spot on. If I was you I'd let the preclear finish and then confirm that the SMART data is valid after that. Definitely keep an eye on the current temperature data afterwards and make sure it updates as expected, as that is one of the more frequently updated SMART data points, and one that the system likely relies on. You can monitor it for a while before you add it to your array of course, but I think your drive is fine.

  29. The pre-clear is still in progress, now onto the post-read. The disk is not in the array, it's unassigned devices and the disk info label is not clickable. Pre-clear preview as currently stands below Disk log diskinfo_log also attached, which shows lots of entries where SMART info is not being found. Should I pause the pre-clear to run a SMART test? No SMART info seems to be available below. I'm also sure I added the, manufacture and purchase date and warranty period information to the disk yesterday, parhaps when pre-clear was already in progress. diskinfo_log.txt

  31. If this pre-clear is still in progress, can you please share your smart data from Main > Drive Name > Download next to Download SMART Report? Alternatively this is also in diagnostics.zip. You should be able to see the smart data on this screen too. As long as the smart data is visible there (and not wildly inaccurate) it's not an issue with your drive. ie.

  34. Eigene negative Erfahrung.

  39. p.s. I dont believe in backups that only backup certain parts or exclude certain areas in certain situation but then again something else in other situations and depending on the moon phases etc however well intended. That can create a nightmare of a mess during restores. And if it has to be then please put it in bold large flashing letters on the screen where users set up the actual backup, impossible to miss. False sense of security is way worse than no security. So not like this screen , which suggest all is good and shiny... and p.s. the appdata backup plugin properly backs up all bz* files but now advices in large letters to move to unraid.net plugin , which does not backup bz* files. So another possible trap to fall in without a proper warning but even a worse warning (although surely also well intended).

  40. PM is a Miner for GPUs -see https://phoenixminer.org/ I would recomend to read about cryptos first. But basically it is possible to mine ETH with a CPU but very much not recomended. Have a look at monero for that purpose. came to this thread to point out that you have to install and start the docker first w/o the extra parameter for nvidia. than the docker will start but give you an error. Edit the docker and add the nvidia parameter => starts up fine. my 1070 does around 28MH/s which can be tweaked by some overclocking & undervolting (to around 30-32) which I have no idea how to do in unRaid.

R 21:35 14:28 fuser -s /mnt/cache/backups/urbackup/linux-client/210314-1511/root/home/username/.steam/debian-installation/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/selinux Ich habe Dienstagabend jedoch den Server neu gestartet.

  42. It does for most people. I understand it can be frustrating if you cannot do what you expect but simply saying that it does not work will not improve the situation. We have nothing to work from to try solve issues you might have with Unraid. Please make a post in General support explaining your issues in details. What you expect to do, what step you took, what is happening in return ? Pictures of errors can help. Attaching your Diagnostics will also give us information to help you (Tools / Diagnostics).

  43. Nextcloud is a lot different that most containers, because i have or can have the functionality of a lot of the combined. Usually most of the "Apps" are 1 click install, some of them need external services to run, like Redis, Collabora, ElasticSearch. Some need extra packages installed like pdlib. This particular container is based on alpine which alpine does not have yet a stable pdlib package, it's still on testing, That's why LinuxServer team haven't included it yet. You can however install the package, manually or by making a script to install it on every docker restart or every update of the docker. But I would recommend be first more familiar with Nextcloud first.

I've found that I need to load the Linux sg module for it work correctly: # modprobe sg It doesn't have very many dependencies. 46. Ahhh, they're just the library names... so if I wanted the documentary portion to work, I'd have to split out all my documentaries into separate libraries. Got it. Thank you very much for clarifying that. And let me know if I can help at all on the all locations map, though I'm guessing it'd be more difficult to collaborate. Mostly just didn't mean to shove that off on you, thank you for your help though! And thanks to @hogfixer too!

  47. Am I the only one who can't get the "Documentary Shows" and "Anime Shows" counters working? Not sure how it's pulling this genre information, or if I could change it to pull a different genre, but mine just show N/A: I'd love to get these working and be able to tweak them if possible. Haven't been able to dig up anything on how to do that though. Also, I'd love to add a map that shows all the locations of the IP addresses I've ever streamed to (not just the one's I'm actively streaming to) if possible. Any help is appreciated! This is so cool though, thanks to everyone who put time/effort into it. What a wonderful tool.

  48. I would like to see a "back-up" option added to the "use cache disk" option in the Share form. The behaviour would be to leave the data on the cache (like the "only" option) except the mover script would copy the data to the array when it runs. My use case is my app data share for all my dockers. It's cache only now and working great, but I want it backed up to the array (so the pref files are on protected storage). When I asked about doing this, I was told to set up an rsycn cron job; but why does unRAID support moving through the webUI, but not copying? Thoughts?

  49. I get that which is why my post was here in Feature Request. As I believe it would be a nice feature to add and make unRaid even more useful. I didn't expect this push back in the Feature Request forum? I get that some features are difficult to implement. I've also been around software developers too and understand sometimes they just say no because they don't see the need. This would also push unRAID up another level. Anyway, thank you for your replies and I will hope this gets serious consideration one day.
