If symlink doesn't do the trick, you could look into setting up an iSCSI target... there's some topics about this on this forum

You're not alone... my server has crashed two times in the last 72 hours. Just stops working... a reboot via IPMI is the only solution it seems because even ssh isn't working. With a 1000€ Motherbord and a 1000€ CPU you're cheaping out on the memory? Always use dual channel for the RAM!
