Planning on upgrading my Unraid server this year, and was initially going to go with an Intel CPU that had the 770 iGPU for transcoding in Plex. I still might go that route, but this new AMD 8700G is very interesting to me. Since it just came out, I'm not seeing any comparisons between it and the Intel 770 for transcoding, but I'm wondering if anyone has any insights or thoughts into the matter?

Having some consistent issues with trying to preclear a 12 TB Seagate Ironwolf. I thought something was wrong with the first drive, so I RMA’d it, but the second drive is having the same issues. It seems to happen towards the end of the pre-read verification, and it’s always been a “low memory detected, aborting”, even though my memory usage is only around 30%. I’ve attached the Preclear log. Any ideas? EDIT: I installed and used Binhex's Preclear Docker, and it worked. Ok, I'm just not sure what exactly is causing it. I haven't had any changes in the past few months as it's started happening. Just seems strange. I've got 24GB of RAM at the moment, with a max potential of only 32. Unable to use ECC due to mobo restrictions. I'll see if I can find an 8GB stick to fill the empty slot.

Hi everyone, I've had my server up and running for quite some time, and I've started noticing some memory errors. All of my docker containers will stop responding, only coming back after a server reboot. I'll also have random dockers mark themselves as "Not available". Really not sure what's happening. I'm currently using this docker with Mullvad VPN. Everything seems to be working fine, but how can I check that all of the traffic is truly going through the VPN for this Docker? I have VPN_ENABLED set to yes, and I have my Mullvad ID in VPN_USER and VPN_PASS, and then I have VPN_PROV set to custom. I've had a few terabytes incoming and outgoing, and haven't been throttled or warned yet, so I'm guessing that it's working, but I just want to be absolutely sure that all of that traffic is going through Mullvad. Any tips are appreciated, thanks!!

It worked! Ended up speeding up a lot before I went to bed, finished early this morning.

Well the two parity drives are hooked up via sata. I've made the decision to get a bigger case that can hold the HDDs inside, and then also got a Sata expansion card. I bought this current small case because it was supposed to be quiet, and it's exactly the opposite. I'll come out even and with better performance overall

Well it's certainly slowed down...ETA is now 1 day and 4 hours from now. I'm guessing the heat has slowed it down - went to 72MB/s now.

Just finished swapping disks, had to do the 3.3v taping and what not, but we're looking good now. Building parity, looks like it should only take 17 hours total instead of 1 day and 17 hours. Odd thing is that it's roughly the same speeds...around 125MB/s now whereas it was 117MB/s in the probox. Probably more consistent with direct sata connections. Appreciate your help!!

True. I was mainly wanting the hotswap ability for ease of access and removal, but I suppose most modern cases are easy enough to change.

All 4 of the 8TB shucked drives are in the enclosure. My current case only has two HDD bays, and those are occupied by some older 1TB drives. I could perhaps swap two of the 8TB with the two 1TB drives, and then use the sata connected ones as my parity.

Well that's unfortunate. I don't have a setup at the moment that can handle a lot of disks without the USB card, but you're probably right and I need to get a different setup for this. I mainly got it because it gave me hotswap ability without having to get a rack.

Got it. It was set on Auto, but I just changed it to read/modify/write. Thanks for the tip!

Not sure what you mean by Turbo Write...where is that setting?
