  1. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=38424.0 Whoops missed that. Then I will not include it Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I have a Unraid server that used to serve my media center but I have gone away from the HTPC and media center and have decided to sell my server. It worked great as of yesterday. Antec Case Supermicro mdb-x7spa-h-o with Intel Atom 510 2 gb SDRAM Corsair CX750M ***Hard drives not included $225 shipped within US Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I'm wondering if it is time to upgrade my hardware and what the benefit would be. I use my unraid for media only. It stores did and blu Ray rips and now my digital downloads. It also runs plex from the server and feeds media to my cell phone, laptop, Xbox, and Apple TV (not local). It only streams to 1-2 devices at a time. Not all 4. It seems to work fine for DVDs. Blu rays are picky. Sometimes they work great on the Xbox, never streaming through AirPlay to the Apple TV unless I knock the quality down extremely low. Plex runs slow when making edits to the server through TOWER but I rarely have to mess with it so it's not a big deal. Here is my current hardware. Super micro mdb-x7spa-h-o mono with integrated Intel Atom d510 processor 2gb DDR2 sdram Six western Digital green drives @ 2TB Is there a benefit to more powerful hardware with my current usage?
  4. That's a good point. Thank you for the help
  5. I won't upgrade. The only reason I considered was because I upgrade my htpc and had the spare parts available to use. I figured rather than selling them I would find use for them. I'm not having any issues so there is no need.
  6. great! Thank you and you are correct. It is serving the media only and a Mac mIni is doing the transcoding. I will certainly look into a ram upgrade but stupid question... How will that help me if it is only serving media over the network?
  7. I currently have an Intel server board with an atom d510 processor and two gb of ram in my server. I happen to have leftover parts from a htpc. I have a gigabyte motherboard, amd x2 240, and 4 gb ram available. If I were to swap my Intel atom out for the amd would their be any noticeable performance boost from the server that is used to feed dvd and blu Ray rips (mkv) to iPads, iPhones, ps4, and an offsite Apple TV. It will only feed two of the devices at any given time.
  8. I use my unraid server to house a massive library of DVD movies that i rip. I have it connected to a gigabit switch that is hooked to a ASUS n900 router. I also have a HTPC wired to the same switch and router The speeds when doing file transfers are typically between 20-30 MB/s but when i choose to transfer more than one file to two different folders thing slow down significantly. Also i noticed when i was converting a ripped DVD to MKV it takes about 5 min when reading from and then writing back to the server location. When i did the same file to a drive located directly on my HTPC it was done in less than a minute. I use MakeMKV. (Side note but i noticed since i upgraded to v.5 makemkv has failed on multiple occassions when converting a file. What could cause this?
  9. I want to install the APCUPS plugin on my newly up and running Unraid server to help protect it from the madness that is a poweroutage. Two part question: First, How do install the plugin? I do not have a plugin folder on the flash so im confused as to where the file goes. Can I access the flash folder on the "Tower" to drop plugins, or do i need to remove the flash drive and plug it into my windows computer? Second, The UPS has the USB cord that is plugged into my Windows pc. Im assuming so that it knows when to shut down properly? Do i leave this plugged into the WIn7 pc or the Unraid system for best results? How do i get it to shut down both systems with only one USB connection? Okay...so that was a multiple part question just two topics. Im not extrememely technical so if someone could explain this to me in the easiest way possible i would appreciate it.
