  1. Hello, I recently installed the 7 Days to Die (7dtd) docker but am running into issues with running mods on the server. From the output logs and the console the Mods show loaded but doesn't work in the game. The mods are setup correctly as if i copy them to the local install for single player they work just fine. After poking around Discord and a few other places it seems like everything is setup the way it's supposed to be but still doesn't want to work. I am very lost by this point
  2. Have you tried a different Cable? sounds silly but was the reason my transfer speeds was messed up.
  3. Been lurking awhile and figured I should at least say Hi. it's been a short but interesting journey for my Unraid setup, Started with an i7 3930K cpu, but sadly while all documentation shows the i7 was VT-d Compatible the version of the CPU was not. I bought a i7 3820 which was a step down but had VT-d Compatibility. About a week or 2 later I found an old server that was sitting in the bottom of a junk pile that had a Xeon E5 2690 V2 CPU which was compatible with my motherboard and some approvals later it's now in my UnRaid server. The rest of the build Asus p9x79 Pro Motherboard, 32 GB of Ram (8x4 GB) 16 TB storage (4TB for Party, 2 x 4TB and 2 x 2TB in array) 512 SSD Cache AMD 3650 and Nvidia 750 TI GPUs. SilverStone GD08 case with AIO CPU cooler Spent a total of $200 between the case and 750 ti. the i7's are being sold off to recuperate some costs. Now with all this power it's time to play around with VM. i'm not planning to do anything fancy, just have one to run Kodi and Steam Remote Play with GPU out to my TV and another for torrenting as i'm not a big fan of deluge.
  4. https://www.hirensbootcd.org/ would be one of the more popular live disks you can use.
  5. if you have spare hardware and a USB drive you can always try unraid for 30 days. There is very little to lose at this point giving it a shot.
  6. unRaid is it's own OS and is used for people to custom build a NAS type solution using PC hardware. The NAS you are looking at is an out of the box solution. unRaid is an alternative to Typical RAID based solutions as it uses it's own storage system with parity to give greater flexibility over standard RAID/NAS solutions For that synology box, it's 2 drives so all redundancy is basically just 1:1 MIrror so you will be able to use 50% of your total storage and both devices need to be the same. If they are not the same size, then it will match the larger one to the smaller one and with you setup being a 3TB and 2 TB you will only have 2TB of storage space. If you can setup each driver as it's own logical drive you could have 5TB of storage space, however keep in mind this will be formatted as ext4, so if you want to add a bigger drive you would need to connect the drive to another system that can read ext4 file systems and then copy everything back to the new drive. Or you would need another drive to act as a temp storage to swap it. If you had a spare PC with unRaid you will get 3 TB of storage space as the 3TB HDD will be used as parity and the 2TB and 1 TB as storage. It should go without saying that unRaid will have far more longevity than any out of the box solution as well as proper scalability where you can add new drives with little difficulty.
  7. @testdasi Thanks for the Info How would i go about adjusting the GPU passthrough, along with USB control devices?
  8. I managed to get a hold of a new CPU (Xeon E5 2690 V2) and installed it, however i wanted to check do i need to make any modifications to the VM and Dockers i had setup prior to this change?
  9. I had a what appears to be a similar issue but learned i just installed the GPUs wrong with card 1 in slot one and cart 2 in slot 2. My GPUs showed up and everything appeared to find according to unRaid. Turns out for my Motherboard i had to install it to slot 5, once i did that everything worked fine. Checking your motherboard, for 2 cards you need a card in Slot 1 and Slot 4, for 3 cards, Slot 1, 2 and 4. I hope this helps.
  10. SPECS: CPU: i7 3830 Motherboard: Asus P9X79 Memory: 32 GB GPU: Nvidia 750 TI and AMD 4650 I wanted to do a VM that would function as a Media center to use Kodi, Netflix, Prime video and others, as well as do steam streaming from my main PC. I tried VaporOS which is a custom SteamOS distribution but I'm running into a lot of issues getting it working which appears to be common with SteamOS. Beyond that I'll be doing a docker for a Minecraft server and maybe a few other small things. I also plan to run all of this from it's own SSD since they won't keep any read data, aside from the MC docker which i'll probably have it do backups to the array. Considering the specs and what i plan to use it, would it just be easier to put up either a linux, win 10 or even just an Android vm and customize it from there?
  11. @itimpi The manual doesn't say anything about iommu but the bios update 0906 says it enabled "Enable VT-d support for VT-d enabled processor." now my fear is that the motherboard doesn't support the C2 stepping that the CPU needs. ref: https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/P9X79_PRO/HelpDesk_BIOS/
  12. There is none, I've been through all the options in the BIOS and don't see it I did not know this. I however did put in a 750ti and am a still having the same issue. I even tried both cards as per another post i've seen since my Motherboard doesn't have onboard video There is no northbridge on this motherboard. and don't see anything for SVM From intel ark it says "This product includes VT-d support only on the C2 stepping" I noticed on my Bios it says Southbridge stepping is at C0 stepping, now to find out how to change this option. This is the BIOS settings : https://imgur.com/a/Ib0oY90
  13. Specs: Cpu: i7 3930K Motherboard: Asus P9X79 Pro Ram: 32 GB DDR3 GPU: AMD 4650 I'm new to unRaid and experiencing issues trying to get the GPU pass through working on my setup. On the info screen it shows IOMMU is disabled but have been unable to get it enabled and to show GPU as an option when setting up a VM. I have done a bunch of research and have confirmed that the CPU and Motherboard are compatible with IOMMU and vt-d. I have tried the following: Updated BIOS to the latest version Enabled every CPU option that i could find (none of which explicitly say vt-d or iommu) The closest was one that references Vanderbelt Technology Checked System Agent Configuration as most other posts and guides for Asus boards show, but the only options there is to change the generation of the PCIe slots Set PCIe ACS override to Downstream i unRAID Added intel_iommu = on to the syslinux.cfg and verified it's loading with this when launching unRAID on boot BOOT_IMAGE=/bzimage intel_iommu=on vfio_iommu_type1.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1 pcie_acs_override=downstream initrd=/bzroot Tried iommu=pt in place of intel_iommu = on BOOT_IMAGE=/bzimage iommu=pt vfio_iommu_type1.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1 pcie_acs_override=downstream initrd=/bzroot From what i can find these Motherboards do not have a northbridge, so there is no settings for that. Before I try rolling back my BIOS is there anything else i should look for or try? SOLVED: after some more digging there are multiple versions of the 3930k and I have the older version which doesn't work properly with vt-d. Thanks for the help everyone. EDIT: Dropped in a i7 3820 CPU and works like a charm. VT-D is showing in the BIOS, and IOMMU is enabled and showed properly in unRaid. i hope this helps another poor soul like me at some point tower-diagnostics-20200208-1435.zip
