  1. I recently changed my router, from a DIR 655 to a Netgear R6700 I also purchased a new mini pci-e wifi AC card for my laptop And I recently switched from 4.7 to 5.0.5 Here is the speed I can get now (in the weakest spot of my house) when I transfer a 2GB file from my laptop to my server Wow.....such an improvement Before, i had 10MB/sec at best
  2. I want to replace my current flash drive by a larger one in memory, but much smaller in terms of physical size How do I simply find the GUID of this new flash drive?
  3. I strictly followed the following instructions, and it was done in 10 minutes: Version 4.7 Prepare the flash: either shutdown your server and plug the flash into your PC or Stop the array and perform the following actions referencing the flash share on your network: -) Copy the files bzimage and bzroot from the zip file to the root of your flash device, overwriting the same-named files already there. -) If present, delete these files from the flash (sorry, you will have to re-enter all your users after booting this release): config/passwd config/shadow config/smbpasswd -) Reboot your server. Once boot-up has completed, you should see "Stopped. Configuration valid." array status with all disks assigned correctly except for the Cache disk. If you previously had a Cache disk assigned, you will need to re-assign it manually and re-apply any unique configuration settings for it. -) Carefully examine the Identification strings for each disk. If you see "MBR: error", or "MBR: unknown" for any disk, do not Start the array; instead post your finding in the Forum announcement thread for this release. If everything looks ok, click Start to bring the array on-line. Note: there is a new configuration setting on the Disk Settings page called "Enable auto start". If you set this to "Yes", then upon next server boot, if the array is valid, then it will be automatically Started (this is the old behavior). -) Go to Utils/New Permissions and execute that utility to change file ownership and permission settings. This is necessary for proper operation of the 5.0 security model. -) Go to Users page and re-enter all of your users. If you plan on using SMB and/or AFP with either Secure or Private security mode, you must enter at least one user because the 'root' user name is no longer permitted for network share authentication.
  4. I was in the same boat last week.....I used 4.7 for years, but wanted to upgrade to 5.0.5 I've been hesitating for months, but pulled the trigger last week Everything went fine. I followed the "basic" instruction, and no problem
  5. So now with 5.0.5, I could replace my motherboard with no problem, since Unraid is considering the serial number of each disk?
  6. Yoo hoo.......it works I've followed the instruction from the 1st link, and everything looks good I have to change my signature now, to show that I'm using 5.0.5 and not 4.7 Thanks guys
  7. OK, so 1.6 is the new version apparently, with new skins (vertical, horizontal) I have the old version then, where all the tabs are not arranged so nicely...but still, is it normal that my unRaid Main is blank, and why I do not see the "check for unMenu updates"? Anyway, I'm running headless, and accessing my server from my laptop (win 7 x64) and wifi How do I install the new unMenu rev1.6 in that case? Should I stop the array, and edit the flash with a specific editor? And should I remove any old version of unMenu, and if yes, how? Thanks
  8. In User scripts, I do not see any "check for unMenu updates"....
  9. I see Restart UnMenu...Is it that one? I did it, but still have a blank page when I click on unRaid Main....!
  10. Awesome.............it works now !!! Thank you so much
  11. Arghhh............nope, same thing !!! It redirects me to this "http://www1.dlinksearch.com/main?url=tower%3A8080&w=1366&h=640&ifc=0"
  12. This sounds like name resolution is not working and the router is intercepting the page request in order to provide you with advertising. This "feature" can and should be disabled in the router. Do you know how do I disable this in the DIR655 router?
  13. hello Tower:8080 doesn't work anymore on my laptop (wifi) Instead, it return a "dlinksearch" website......!!! Any ideas? Thanks
  14. Hello I've been using unraid with my dlink DIR655 RevA as the main router + another one (revB) as an access point to have a better range. It has been working flawlessly for months (1 TV wired and another one wifi, all with WD TV live) I did replace the main router by a DIR655 revB, and i updated both of them with the latest firmware. On the access point, i saved the settings in a config file before the update, and uploaded it back right after. So i should have the same parameters But i have now problems on the TV that is wireless....pictures block, stuttering, etc... What parameters should i verify first? I know it's not an easy question, but i'm lost Does somebody knows the optimum settings for the DIR 655?
  15. Hello I want to transfer some files from my Unraid 4.7 to my DNS323. I have heard that FTP transfer are faster than simple copy/paste I have downloaded and installed FileZilla, but I am kind of lost on how to use it I can see on the left pane ("local site") my local drive, my Unraid and my DSN323..................But nothing on the left pane (remote site)!!! Sorry for my ignorance....
  16. Hello Recently, I have had some issues everytime I was starting up my server (4.7). Well, it was not booting up Every time I have to hook up a keyboard and monitor to check in the BIOS, and previous settings are changed (stop on all errors instead of keyboard only, boot sequence is changed to the defaut one, etc...) I am thinking the issue is coming form the battery of my motherboard (CMOS battery) Could you confirm? Is the usual CMOS battery a CR2032? Thanks
  17. Hello I have UnraidServer 4.7 that runs pretty well.....I had 2 times some issues though, and I had to boot with a monitor hooked up to access the BIOS (Unraid was not booting up, and I had to look into the BIOS) Because of these 2 issues, I thought that I should maybe have a backup of my USB drive somehow How can I do that? Just access it once the server is powered on, and copy/paste somewhere on my PC? Or is there a specific backup method? 1 more question: my 4.7 verison is running fine, but I can only add 2 drives to stay with the same license....What version shoudl I try if i want to use 3TB disk to optimize those 2 last open spots? Thanks
