  1. Man I'm glad I went to the end of this thread that Google took me to. This worked for me to get the UI up and responsive.
  2. Turns out they were in fact write-protected, I'm guessing because they were not properly decommissioned out of the array they came from. Ended up purchasing some other drives and they worked.
  3. sg_format --format didn't work. I get the following error: root@Tower:~# sg_format --format --size=512 -v /dev/sg2 -S IBM-SSG H5VH600 E4A0 peripheral_type: disk [0x0] PROTECT=1 << supports protection information>> Unit serial number: 0XHAWTAP LU name: 5000cca0594c2e10 mode sense(10) cdb: 5a 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 fc 00 Mode Sense (block descriptor) data, prior to changes: Number of blocks=1172123568 [0x45dd2fb0] Block size=512 [0x200] A FORMAT UNIT will commence in 15 seconds ALL data on /dev/sg2 will be DESTROYED Press control-C to abort A FORMAT UNIT will commence in 10 seconds ALL data on /dev/sg2 will be DESTROYED Press control-C to abort A FORMAT UNIT will commence in 5 seconds ALL data on /dev/sg2 will be DESTROYED Press control-C to abort Format unit cdb: 04 18 00 00 00 00 Format unit: Fixed format, current; Sense key: Data Protect Additional sense: Access denied - no access rights Format unit command: Data protect, type: sense key; write protected media? FORMAT UNIT failed I found this thread on STH to try sg_sanitize -B, but got an illegal request error. Also tried sg_format --resize --count=-1 /dev/sg2 Which does now show the block size as 512; however, sg_format --format still produces the same output as above. Edit: Looks like it did not actually change the block size. I believe the drives are write-protected, but I have no idea how to remove that.
  4. See attached. After doing some more troubleshooting I think this may have to do with the drives having a sector size that Unraid doesn't like, but it would be nice to confirm that. tower-diagnostics-20200404-1052.zip
  5. Hello, Through what seems like eons scouring the internet for solutions, I believe my issue to be at a lower level than Unraid, but I believe this forum might be the best place to turn to for answers because no solution I have tried yet has solved my problem. I have a Dell R610 with a PERC H310 installed, and three IBM 15k SAS and 2 Dell 15k SAS drives installed. The Dell drives (came with the server) show up fine, but the IBM drives (purchased from Ebay) are definitely recognized by the controller, but can't seem to figure out what size they are, and do not show up at all in Unraid.
