  1. I've had some success w/ SpaceInvaderOne's tutorial using binhex-deluge-vpn w/ binhex-radarr & sonarr. But constantly struggling with indexers for a long time now.

Recently was able to get a very clear tutorial incorporating prowlarr & qBittorrent. Works great, except does not have vpn instructions included.

    https://flemmingss.com/a-minimal-configuration-step-by-step-guide-to-media-automation-in-unraid-using-radarr-sonarr-prowlarr-jellyfin-jellyseerr-and-qbittorrent/

What I'd like is some help w/ a clear tutorial getting prowlarr set up w/ binhex-docker apps, including deluge-vpn OR getting qBitorrent from the more flemming's tutorial behind a vpn.

I've tried to add bihhex-qbittorrentvpn w/ similar configurations, but it fails to start.

i'm lost when it comes to changing ports or troubleshooting w/o a clear tutorial.
What is best way to get prowlarr integration, w/ vpn (pia) for torrents?

  2. I have a photos folder on my main PC, and using Adobe Elements as a library manager.
I'd like to set a monthly back-up to a "PhotoBackup" share on my unraid server.

I've mapped the share as a network drive (Z:)
Elements has always had trouble with sustaining that connection and I recently tried using Acronis (WD) as a solution. The size of the folder is ~1.1Tb, and my cache is about ~800Gb of free space. It seems to be working fine, but as the cache fills it eventually stalls and crashes.
I've tried to invoke the 'mover" during transfer, but it doesn't seem to help or work.
I'd have thought the rate would just slow, but it would continue until finished. Then subsequent updates shouldn't require as much cache?

Bottom line, i'd like a rolling back up of a 1+Tb photos folder.

Open to suggestions, but limited tech knowledge; able to follow clear guidance.

  3. I have a local photo library

I use with Photoshop Elements to browse etc

I attempted to locate the library on an unraid share, but  it just doesn't play well when remotely accessing the files from the server.

At the moment i have a USB HDD back up running, but have always wanted to get this backed up to my Unraid server, with further parity redundancy.

    What is recommended?

Effectively, all I need is an application to check from changes on a networked PC, and sync/copy changes to an unraid share.

Is there a best practices way to do this, and/or a tutorial?

I haven't been able to find a simple solution, but I have to believe there is something available.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. Hopefully this is the last question for a LONG time.

But after major surgery, this novice has been over his head (i.e. removing failing HDD, replacing parity and several hours of pre-clears/parity checks/file validation)

My server had run parity checks in the last week or so after setting up the above changes and shown valid.

But the monthly check just ran with 2 errors

Plz advise. I have "write corrections" checked.

    Message says "parity is valid"

I think my main concern is the 'health' of the remaining disks. All relative new yet, and under warranty. So plz let me know if anything concerning is evident in diagnostics, or if further checks are recommended.

  5. so clueless, my apologies... the server was in maintenance mode

attached are diags, w/ server running

    BONUS

DISK 1 is NOW mounted!!! Which is AWESOME > and at least appears to have most of the data present.

Now i need help determining what to do next, best practices

how to confirm and/or recover data, and determine if i should replace HDD.

There is now a "Lost and Found" directory with what looks like a couple hundred folders. Most appear to be media files, and are "not accessible" from Plex. Anyway to restore easily?

    Advise is very much appreciated!

  6. UPDATE

so i've removed the 3tb disc that was causing problems, as well as a 2tb disc and added a 14Tb HDD.

I carefull moved everything using unbalance and did all the pre-clears and parity checks

NOW however, despite having "gathered" data from disc2 > (2tb to be removed) over to the new disc1; i now see that disc1 shows as "unmountable". It is asking to be formatted.

It SHOULD have much of my music media library...

    1) first question > why did this happen? is there a way to restore easily?

    2) If i agree to format the drive, should it be able to "restore" using the parity drive. The system says the parity is valid.

if diagnostics would be helpful plz let me know, and i'll try to provide whatever is needed

    thanks in advance!

my array is now 3x 12Tb data drives and 1x 14Tb parity.

  7. Alright > 3 days later the pre-clear has finished

BUT now because the "new" drive is 14Tb, and my parity drive is 12Tb it won't let me assign it to Disk 1.

    What are my options.

Can i do a "parity swap" without the "failing disk 1" installed? Doesn't seem likley.

Should I put the failing 3Tb disk 1 back into array, then use unbalance to move all the data files? (I don't know how to do this, but hope to figure it out if recommended)

      > even if i did that, i'm not sure it would let me do the Parity swap without a valid parity?

I only bought the 14tb drive, because it was $50 cheaper than the 12Tb drive!

    Please advise

  8. Thanks all!

Picked up a new HDD (prices have been up a bit...), and will be running pre-clear for a while yet.

    Failing HDD is out "missing"

When pre-clear finishes, if I "Assign the new drive in the slot of the old drive", will it recognize the full capacity? (I'm moving from 3Tb to 12Tb)

Hope it all goes smoothly. Will be back if I have further questions

  9. Here is a question I tried to get at earlier

As I have a spare 9Tb of space, and the drive in question has ~600Gb out of 3Tb total used.

Can I simply go through each Share > and tell it to exclude disk1 ?

If I do that, will the data be actively moved? or will it just know NOT to write new data?

alternatively, how to I empty the disk1 of data?

  10. i've tried twice to run the SMART extended self-test.

it goes for a few hours, eventually i come back it shows "No self-tests logged on this disk"

but i also get notifications as follows

    1) array health report [FAIL]

    2) Fix common problems > Errors have been found > Investigate settings > which sends me back to "disk1" has read errors

"Suggested Fix"  >> If the disk has not been disabled, then unRaid has successfully rewritten the contents of the offending sectors back to the hard drive. It would be a good idea to look at the S.M.A.R.T. Attributes for the drive in question Begin Investigation Here > back to disk1 settings, image attached

I believe the next step would be to replace disk1, correct?

    Titan_Device.png

  11. Parity check came back with message

"Array has 1 disk with read errors"

Not certain I have it right, but when i searched errors on the syslog, Disk 1 was identified in some cases (see attached)

I've also attached the SMART report for Disk 1

I'm looking for input on steps to ensure data integrity. Please advise

Should this disk be removed from array?

Disk 1 is a smaller HDD, is there a way to safely move the data from that disk (using parity). What is recommended procedure for replacement. Also, i'll likely replace with a much larger HDD, are there any considerations here?

    thanks in advance!

  12. I'm having trouble getting Deluge to connect with Sonarr or Radarr. (binhex versions)

I get error message "Unknown exception: The operation has timed out.: 'http://192.168.1.149:8112/json'

I've done hard restart of server, reinstalled the containers and checked settings.

I don't see any conflicts, and can't think that i've added or changed anything from while it was working prior; just no longer getting a connection to my Deluge download client for some reason.

all my settings should be based on SpaceInvader One tutorials, and had been working prior.

i can manually send items to Deluge, but even then they are not ported over when completed.

i'm not too tech savvy, so if there is a screen shot i could share, let me know

  13. recently restored my cache, but delugevpn no longer working as it was

i believe it has to do with the .ovpn file in app data folder

i've used the spaceinvader one tutorial (2017), but it may be out of date at this point

please let me know if these files are correct, or if i should be looking at something else

In my  appdata>binhex-delugevpn>openvpn folder i have pasted the following 3 files

    <crl.rsa.2048.pem>

    <ca.rsa.2048>

CA Toronto.ovpn           (i've tried Israel, Netherlands, Romania & Switzerland as well)

the PIA site suggests US has port forwarding available too, but unclear to me exactly what to paste in app data folder
