Hi,
I am at a point where I am not sure where to proceed.
I got a bunch of CRC errors on one of my cache disks, so I ordered a new one for delivery today and started a parity check.
Parity check finished yesterday, new cache disk (500 gig sata ssd) arrived today.
So, I invoked the mover then shut the server down when it completed.
Replaced the "failed" drive and brought it back up.
As expected one of the cache disks showed missing, so i selected the new one, got it ready to start then clicked start, and the server stopped pinging, and the login prompt stopped flashing on the console.
I gave it 10-15 minutes and decided to hard power.
It came back to a point where it was verifying bzmodules checksum and just stopped, again, so I gave it another 15 minutes and hard powered it again.
This time it came back up, except the cache pool is completely gone, no real data loss as I have nothing that isnt copied off.
Made the cache pool 2 disks, selected both disks and clicked start, and the network dropped again and the login prompt stopped flashing on the console again.
So, here we are 45 minutes later and it is still in this state, I thought maybe it was doing something in the background, but it doesnt appear so, and if it was doing some sort of mdadmin work it should be done by now on 2 500 gig ssds.
I was following these directions, https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/storage-management/#cache , but what do I do now? I havent made any changes since it dropped a stick of ram that I replaced in february so I have a USB backup, but do I try to start with the backup for the sake of it? Or do I let it sit for hours doing nothing?
Thanks!?!?
Just going to throw this edit on here:
I decided instead of just letting it sit doing, nothing, that I would go ahead and replace the USB drive. Im now back in operation on Februarys USB backup.
