  1. Thanks Jonathan It seems I misread the use cache "Yes" option Also did not realize that I had to stop all the services, so the files could be moved Thanks for the advise
  2. I have recently replaced my 120GB SSD drive with a 240G one, as my VMs and Docker containers were reaching the 120GB limit To my dismay, when I replaced the drive, my new drive was using "only" 80Gb, so why the hell was it using 40GB more on the same configuration on the old disk ? It seems I didn't even need to buy a bigger disk, just reconfigure how Unraid was allocating space to the cache drive. Anyway, I have deleted a couple of VMs I didn't needed anymore and the situation worsened: now I have only about 11GB ( out of 240GB) used. It doesn't make sense: I have changed the appdata and domains shares from "prefer" to "Yes" on the "Use cache for new files/directories), but is still practically not using the cache drive (around 5% of space used) I also deleted an old VM image, and now there is a hidden .fusexxx file with 50GB size, that I have not been able to delete. Obviously the OS is using somehow that file ( and probably will be deleted when I reboot Unraid), but maybe is wasting disk space I have 3 VMS , using 40GB, 53GB and 53GB, so in total it should be using around 150GB, but why it reports is using only 11GB? My question is: how can I make sure the SSD ( cache) drive is used as much as possible - instead of using low speed drives? Thanks
  3. I found out that IP address I was already being used by another host Anyway, I decided to use the dhcp server within pi-hole, so I guess you can close this one! Thanks anyway
  4. Just realized I have pi-hole running on the server as a docker instance, and both are using port 67, so I wonder this is the problem However dhcp server is disabled on pi-hole Thanks
  5. Just installed this docker , and somehow keeps finding it has stopped I've checked the logs, but don't spot anything obvious: I can see some errors, but don't know if they are the result of me restarting it Can't somebody advise how to troubleshoot? Thanks
  6. Thanks Squid! I have tried that, and now I can set an IP address, so it looks is working Just reinstalling the OS, so will soon find out
  7. I think I spoke too soon: after rebooting, it needs to open a web interface, which fails I can log in via CLI, but it seems it doesn't detect a network interface, hence doesn't work I have tried changing br0 to virbr0, but to effect Any suggestions?
  8. Just managed to set it up, you need to change the Primary vDisk Bus from VirtIO to SATA So far is working
  9. Just trying to install a Checkpoint Management Station running Gaia, but have been unsuccessful. First I had to configure the VM to boot using SeaBios, then the installation process begins, but can't find any disks, so it gives the option to select a driver, so I selected the ahci driver, it seems to like it, so installation continues. At the end of the installation, you either get a message saying: "all done, proceed to shutdown", or a general fault. In either case you need to reboot , so I stopped the VM, then restarted it ( doesn't seem to like a restart) Once it reboots, you get back to the CDRom Prompt to install, so you say: " no, start from disk", but nothing happens By the way, is there any way to "unmount the CD", once OS has been installed? Any help will be appreciated
  10. Today, while I was trying to find out why my cache drive was filling up, I found a lot of folders/files that look like remnants of older dockers I may have installed, then deleted ( all under /appdata folder) I suspect this is by design, or is there a way to prevent this happening? Is there an easy way of safely deleting this obsolete folders and its files? I don't want to delete files that may be required for the "live" dockers Thanks
  11. Johnie Thanks for your quick reply regarding the cache expansion question, I know I can set a raid 0 ( stripe set), but my understanding is that by default it uses raid 1 ( mirror), then you need to change it. Is this the case? Thanks
  12. Thanks for your reply I have managed to recover the VMS, but only because I had a backup of the xml files, so I managed to rebuild them You are right: the cache drive was full.( BTW, the issue was with Linux VMs, not Windows). Only now I have started looking at how the mover works - and have set a daily schedule to move stuff out during the night I did a manual move after changing the appdata and domains shares to "use cache yes", and this cleared about 30Gb our of 120Gb, so that was great However, I have created a new Linux VM, and now the cache disk started to fill up again Now I know I have to keep an eye on the cache size, but I think from the documentation is not very clear on how the cache drive works, and to be honest I think this is a major "flaw" in how it has been implemented: what's the point to have a HA Server ( unraid) that fails because a disk is full? I'm thinking of buying an extra SSD to expand the cache disk, but I have two questions: - If I want to expand it (not replace) , do I need to buy a drive of the same size? or can I buy a bigger size drive - Once I expand the disk, will Unraid try to fill up the disk space to the max ( again)? Thanks
  13. I need desperately some help Today, while I was creating a new VM, suddendly my VMS decided to pause and was not able to resume them It seems the cache disk is full, so tried to run this, as per some other forums: btrfs balance start -dusage=75 /mnt/cache When this failed, I decided to reboot, but started and all my VMS had dissapeared. I tried to recreate them from the xml files, as the files seem to be there, but it failed with a message about read-only filesystem I have tried to stop/start vm manager, but now it fails to start saying: "Libvirt Service failed to start" AS I said I need at least one of the VMS to be working - I do have some configuration backups - as well as the original images At this point I don't know what do do! I appreciate any help you can provide Find enclosed diagnostic file Javier unraid-diagnostics-20200525-2226.zip
