[support] dlandon - Zoneminder 1.36
Hello, I have some starting problems with Zoneminder, I'm trying to test it so I can use it as my CCTV base software, but sometimes I get errors while loading it and, when it loads I get errors starting the WebUI due to security certificates, and Once I pass that point, I can not see any of My cameras, I'm using to NICS and I don't know if zoneminder is using both. Do you have any hint that can help me? Thanks!

I confirm that I'm quitting on shinobi. Thanks Edward Spaceinvaderone for your long and detailed tutorials on how to install and configure Shinobi, I hope it works fine for you. But for me I'm definitely done with it. I don't want to bore you with details, but Moe, Shinobi's developer, is a real ass! I won't go into details, but he is way to inpolite. Long story short, I went and asked him some questions in order to understand better the software and I he did not want to tell me anything. Maybe he is a good developer, but maybe not, otherwise there wouldn't be that many posts regarding his software. But assuming he is indeed a good developer, he is a lousy seller. So, I encourage you to look for another solution. In my case I am going for a windows VM and I will install Blue iris and give it a try, maybe is not that "flexible" but at least is easier to understand than Shinobi. Thanks a lot, I've learned some things however, and if I can help you, I would gladly... Not like others.

I had some issues like yours, even I got green screens instead of images, (look for my previous post) I also have reolink cameras. I don't know if I fixed it, but at least, I don't get green screens anymore, or at least haven't got them and I have turned off my server for two weeks while I was looking for answers at the shinobi forums. Go to your camera, and in the admin screen look for the advance properties tab, there and look for the option to reset your camera to default settings. I think It will help you with your ghosting. I hope it helps! Cheers!

Hello, I have had the same issue, I even bought an Nvidia 1050 card to help my CPU and I couldn't make the CPU workload go down to a 5 or 7%, it remained with only 2 reolink (RLC410 and RLC410-5MPx) cameras at 2 Mpixels at around 30%. So I upgraded my cpu and I am looking forward to add a second cpu (I have a Dell T420 Server with a E52470 V2 processor which is the top for this kind of server). Now with 2 cameras at 4 and 5 Mpixels, the CPU is around 11-13% with motion detection on and no HW acceleration (because if I enable it the screen goes black and the cameras won't record anything). Shinobi has been running for 12 or 15 hours only (on this test, I've made lots or test runs) . If that is all the load for each 2 cameras I add, I think I will stick to Shinobi since I need only 5 cameras on this system. However when I started this last test run, the CPU was working between 9-10%. So My concern, and I saw it before with my old CPU is, that, the more time it passes by, the higher the CPU workload gets, and, after around 2 weaks, the CPU workload is so high (around 78% 80%), that the server becomes unstable and almost inoperable. I don´t know if this happens also to you, and I don't know if you could actually enable the hardware acceleration with motion detection correctly. Did you make it happen? Cheers

Now posting from my concerns. I will leave the "hardware acceleration" issue aside I ended up upgrading my crappy E5 2403 to an E5 2470 V2 and so far it runs way better. However, I Still have issues with the playback, and I don't know why I can only see 2 days of videos. The videos are in the hard drive, but the video player does not see them. In the admin settings, they are set to store up to 40 days. Here are some screenshots you like: The second issue, as you may have noticed is that one of the "test" cameras only show a green screen in the recording (very useful by the way in a surveillance system). So, here are my new 2 questions: 1.- Why can't I see more than 2 days in the video player? 2.- Has the green screen occurred to you ? My cameras are Reolink RLC410 and Reolink and RLC410 5 MP. Thanks in advance for your valuable input.

Hi, I've never used a Vlan, however I think I can understand how they work. Here are some observations. From that configuration in your Switch you are enabling the VLAN, however in the first table you are setting all the ports as "non members" and in the second one, you are setting all the ports to ve in the VLAN 1 and you are also setting the VLAN ID to 50 u 1-3,8. As far as I'm concerned ports 1-3,8 should be excluded from VLan 1 and left alone in the VLan 50. In space invaders video he has his cameras set to a fixed IP with a different topology from the rest of his network. If you configure your router to DHCP it will only assign ip adresses to one topology only, so you should assign each camera one (or set another DHCP server into that VLan 50) In my case, should it help you, I have 2 separate networks, one is from my home and the other is for the cameras only. My server (now a Dell T420) has two ethernet adapters, one connects to my home network (192.168.2....) and the other connects to the cameras (10.10.10...) for that matter I enabled docker app called "Glass | ISC DHCP Server" Which listens to my cameras and assigns a dynamic IP address when requested. I hope I have at least pointed you towards something.

I agree with you, Shinobi is way difficult to setup. What CPU usage do you get with that setup? And what resolution are you using?

Dear Edward, Thanks for replying, I always try to do everything as you say. To answer your question, yes I did set the extra parameter: --runtime=nvidia. Here are some screenshots, at the left there is shinoby working and on the right is my virtual machine running Ispy on windows 10. (I set this as you said in your video) I have set at this moment 2 cameras, (The other 4 were reconnected back to my noisy and lousy Reolink NVR ) 1 is broken and only streams a gray screen, the other... well I thought it was dead, but now is working again and is streaming part of my studio. Here is my dashboard, the GPU is at 0% while the CPU only with shinobi, The VM only recording the stream is 58%. Here is the template top part The rest of the template. Thanks a lot!

Well, Thanks for the info, but there is no way I can make this work. I had shinobi pro installed, so I changed the name of the repository to "nvidia" and it downoaded like 2 Gigs and the CPU usage never came down and the GPU usage remained in 0%. By the way, I didn't get the 2 options: Driver Capabilities and GPU ID. I had added them as variables in my last attempt. So I deleted the container, installed it again and the last 2 options appeared (Driver capabilities and GPU ID). I did not make a lot of configurations because Shinobi was configured as I had it (I don´t know why) So I ran it again, and set up my cameras to access the Hardware, and nothing happens. Take a look at this: The HWAccel Device is blank, I have tryed to type my hardware ID and it completely ignores it...and Regarding the CoProcessor I don't even know what that is. I asked for a manual to Shinobi support and they did the same as their software (exactly: ignore me). Here is a screenshot of my dashboard running a VM Windows 10 VM (@ idle by the way). My DHCP Server and Shinobi with only one camera with a still image in my Xeon E5 2403 ( pretty useless by the way) . My CPU is at 37% while my GPU is on vacation zipping some margaritas at the beach! (I'm being sarcastic by the way) So, I hope you can give me a bit of help on this one because I'm loosing my hair on this. Any kind of help will be very appreciated it. Thanks in advance

Hi, I want to install a gpu in my Shinobi to relieve some workload from the GPU, I've been searching and I found a document on Shinobi with some instructions for adding an Nvidia card to work with Shinobi, have any of you installed a GPU with these instructions? https://shinobi.video/docs/gpu Thanks in advance.

Error installing Nextcloud with MariaDB
Hi, I'm having something similar. The problem happens when installing Mariadb, It is like there is no software available to download. I get this info: I have glass dhcp installed and I kind of think that I have installed it for that docker, but it does not appear on my dockers: Could it be because the array is running? I am attaching a copy of my diagnostics file. Thanks! Update July 18th 2020 It turned out that my ethernet settings had only my router as DNS server, there is nothing wrong to have your router (or gateway) acting as your DNS, however in this case the IP addresses were not being resolved. I had to stop the array and then changed the NIC settings adding some DNS servers (ie. 8.8.8.8) and now it is working. C' ya! tower-diagnostics-20200716-0917.zip

Virt-Manager, Intel-GPU-Tools and more Dockers
Thanks, would you mind telling me where to start? This is what I see from my root directory in unraid. Sorry I'm not very experienced with linux, I understand a little bit. Thanks!

Virt-Manager, Intel-GPU-Tools and more Dockers
Thanks! I've seen those instructions, and I tried to do it, however, the ISC-DHCP-Glass terminal also becomes unavailable and I can not reach those directories. Is there a way to reach them outside docker? Thanks!

Virt-Manager, Intel-GPU-Tools and more Dockers
Hi to everyone, I am trying to set up a video surveilance server with shinobi over Unraid. The thing is, that I want to use 2 separate NICS, one to access the cameras and the other to connect Unraid to my home network. I have, finally, made Shinobi work, but I'm still having issues with the cameras. Since I don´t want to use them with fixed IP adresses, but rather with DHCP adresses assigned from the UNRAID server. So, I start glasss-isc-dhcp and after a couple of minutes it stops. That is one thing, the other is that I can not even edit the DHCP config at the GUI, because it asks me for a username and password because my connection its not private. Here is the screen shot: And if I try to use "glassadmin" and "glasspassword" It wouldn't recognize them. And after a couple of minutes the Glass stops responding so it does not mater what you type in, the system turns useless anyway. So it is two issues in one. I don't know if it is a problem when the databases are crated at the moment of the installation. So, if the database is not installed correctly, there will be no reference data to compare the user and the password I am typing to the one that should be stored in the database. I am thinking that the login problem is a result of the database one, fixing the database problem should solve the login problem. Here is a copy of my log, I hope that you can help me understand what is going on so I can solve this issue. Thanks a lot. Cheers! ISC DHCP GLASS Log.txt

Dell PowerEdge T320 as an Unraid server
Hi! I don´t know why nobody replied you, I did the same thing, bought a T320 diskless and I am using with 10 TB SAS drives from seagate. So far I have not dealt with Plex yet, however, It runs unraid and Im currently installing shinobi. The only thing I had to do was install a Perc H310 card flashed to LS so It could work with Unraid. You have a better processor than me, I have the E5-2403. However, what you have should be able to handle 4K streaming without transcoding. The power from the CPUS is needed when you need to transcode a higher definition to a lower one. If the device that is receiving the stream is capable of handling 4k, the one that streams it does not need that much power. Good Luck!

Ok, many thanks repomanz! I din't get it at the first time. This is what I did and I hope it help others: I tryed to open the terminal window from the container, it said that it did not exist. So I went to the main console and wrote the first instruction: "docker exec -ti shinobipro sh" - If I'm not misstaken (sorry I'm not an IT guy or I understand a lot of linux) this instruction created the docker console for shinobi. The next instructions you gave me ( mysql source sql/framework.sql; source sql/user.sql; ) didn't work, I don't know why. But now that the docker console was created I could log in and from ther I could do the steps mentioned in the shinoby article in this webpage: https://hub.shinobi.video/articles/view/wcz3OabYEfOhS7h If you don't want to go to the webpage, here are the instrucions: Installing the database for MariaDB/MySQL 1. Navigate to your Shinobi directory cd /home/Shinobi 2. Open the MariaDB/MySQL Terminal client. mysql 3. Load the SQL files. framework.sql is the database architecture. user.sql are the credentials for Shinobi to connect to the database. source sql/framework.sql; source sql/user.sql; 4. Exit the SQL client exit; 4. If you need to enable the mysql database type you can run the following. node tools/modifyConfiguration.js databaseType=mysql 5. Restart Shinobi pm2 restart all. I have to tell you that I got some errors, but then I went and check shinobi's log, I finally got Shinobi up and running: So now I can continue configuring my shinobi, and I hope that you can too. Thanks a lot for your patience and understanding, I don't know what I did wrong when installing Shinobi, that its docker console wasn`t created, thus, the database wasn´t created either rendering my shinoby useless. I'll see you around because I know I will have more doubts! Cheers

Thanks a lot for your patience and your time. I did as you said, but, I guess it didn´t work. Here is the terminal window print. At the end it reads : sh: sql/user.sql: line 1: CREATE: not found sh: sql/user.sql: line 2: GRANT: not found sh: sql/user.sql: line 3: FLUSH: not found Here is the screenshot: Thank you for your valuable time.

So OK, even though I made a misstake regarding the Drives, I fixed it, and now I can get to Shinobi's GUI, however I get the next message: I kow what your are thinking, and you are right: "Why didn´t you do as indicated in that error message?". The answer is simple, I just cant even find shinobi's directory! I know many of you are pulling rabbits from your hats, but believe me, istalling unraid was the easy part, configuring it to work is way harder. There is my log file again. Shinobi Log.txt Thanks in advance. Cheers!

Sorry, not following U. What container? Thx. UPDATE: My misstake, I did something very dumb! I accidentally assigned my "unassigned drive" as the cache drive, thus it dissapeared from unassigned devices, Im re-installing Shinobi, let me see how it goes and I'll keeo you posted.
