I changed the allocation method to "Most-free"
Note that this allocation mode tends to be the worst from a performance perspective.
-
I suspect that this is due to a bug that has been identified in the Unraid shutdown sequence where the location containing the required binaries gets unmounted too early.
If so this is fixed for the 6.12.4 release which I think is probably getting close now. I would check when that is available if the problem still occurs or there is something else going on.

Is there an ETA for the Multiple Array feature? I am eagerly waiting for it.
Not that I know of. I would expect it is part of the 6.13.x release and likely to be at least the end of 2023 before it reaches stable state if not longer as we are still getting minor 6.12.x releases relating to ZFS support.

Is it easy to downgrade?
It is always easy to manually downgrade (or upgrade) using the manual method described here in the online documentation accessible via the ‘Manual’ link at the bottom of the GUI or the DOCS link at the top of each forum page.

You can deactivate a plugin by renaming its .plg file in the config/plugins folder on the flash drive to have a different file extension and rebooting. Reversing the process will activate the plugin again. This method keeps any settings for the -login intact. It is then a case of trial and error to work out the culprit(s).

Unfortunately 6.12.2 is coming up "empty" as well. Reinstalled 6.12.3 and the WebUI is just visible by starting in Safe Mode. Any idea how to move forward?
Diagnostics attached.
If you get the GUI showing if you boot in Safe Mode then this strongly suggests that it is a plugin that is causing the problem. I do not know which one it might be

So it looks like this still hasn't been sorted? I'm having this issue occur more and more.
Something must be making the shfs system crash. Have you made sure that there are no RAM related issues and no over-clocking/xmp profiles on the ram.

Since you have macvlan traces then you may find that this might help

This is normal, but the percentage will be now based on your smaller array disk.
As I have been reading this thread, if you currently have files on a cache disk then the % displayed will be relative to that pool?
If mover then moves the files to the array so there are no files longer on the cache pool I assume the % displayed will now change to be relative to the smallest array drive that is part of the share?
Assuming that is correct then I can see how users will get confused when this % value appears to change without them making any change.
-
Two things to try that are easy and quick:
- Clear your browsers cache in case there is something cached causing an issue
- Reboot the server in Safe mode. If that works you almost certainly have a plugin causing problems.

I must admit that I find the % setting as very confusing. Not sure what advantage it gives over having an absolute value.

This is inherent in the way Samba operates. The SMB protocol is case insensitive whereas Linux is not. If two files/folders exist with the same spelling but different case then Samba will pick up one of them snd ignore the other. I do not know how you can tell which one it will pick up.
The only thing I think Unraid can do is somehow warn you about this. I ‘think’ it will stop you creating shares like this via the GUI, but not when you do it under the covers.

Possibly but that wouldn't explain why its doing the same thing with a fresh install with no plugins installed.
Have you tried with a fresh install without copying all the of the config folder?

The option you mention is not in the page when creating the share, where can I find it?
It is Minimum Free Space setting when you click on a share on the Shares tab.

Cant even downgrade. went to try and only 6.12 is an option.
You can always use the Manual method described here in the online documentation.

usb works fine in windows ran command. no joy trying to boot. ill have to get a picture of the panic error its throwing up. heading to bed soon ill play around with it more tomorrow, my thoughts is even with this error reverting back to 6.12.0 may not resolve it. i don't want to revert back unless absolutely necessary because i want to put this to rest in case it happens with other users.
It sometimes helps to download the zip file for the release from the unraid site and then extract all the bz* type files and overwrite the copies on the flash drive. -
You are meant to create the data set from the Share tab. That is also where you specify the primary & secondary locations for the data.

Are you trying to boot in UEFI or Legacy mode? Whichever one you normally use have you tried the other one?

did not change anything but seems to work again.
It could be that one of the timeouts mentioned in the documentation is set to a value where things sometimes complete in time and other times do not. If so then increasing them slightly might make the issue less likely to occur.
-
I have decided I like the new behaviour but would like the timeout to be longer (possibly something like 10 seconds) Maybe it IS worth making the timeout configurable (with 0 meaning no timeout) to satisfy both camps?

ok yes it seems to be working when array is nout mounted. will do some more testing
You might find this section of the online documentation accessible via the ‘Manual’ link at the bottom of the GUI or the DOCS link at the top of each forum page may be of use.

This is a known issue with FireFox. Not sure if it is understood why FireFox has this issue as it does not seem to happen with other browsers.

Is there a rough time frame for this feature for share storage? Weeks, months, years?
I have no knowledge of likely dates but I would think we are talking about next year for it to become a stable release, possibly as a release candidate later this year. It is likely to depend on how many point releases it takes to get the current ZFS support completely stable as little issues are still popping up in the 6.12rc releases.
It would be nice to be surprised with earlier availability

I just upgrade to rc7 from rc6 and what I noticed is that ALL unraid setting are reset.
Had to go through every setting to change back to the desired value.
As far as I know you are the first person who has experienced this so there is probably something else going on.
it might help if you attach your system’s diagnostics zip file to your next post in this thread.

Is there a reason that the maximum delay for notifications seems to be 60 seconds? I would like to be able to set something like 300 seconds (5 minutes).
