Super interesting.
Can you confirm that even if seen as a hard drive, it will not be counted as such for licensing purpose ?

If you are using VMs with passthrough HW, it might be good to stop your VMs autostartup and maybe the VM service.

pay for the updates in the 3rd year
It was stated in the podcast that there will be no penalities if you skip some updates.

Can anyone suggest a reliable external HBA
Have you checked https://www.ebay.com/str/theartofserver ?
That's where I would go if I was in the US.

Possibly some information here too :
(just started it, not sure)

All due respect but are you willingly just ignoring the actual issues people are talking about?
"I don't understand the rootcause", "The code excerpt seems quite unconclusive", "I don't see any proofs or even hints of that"Didn't see those at the time in the Reddit post. I saw those here afterwards. I'm at work so I cannot update my previous posts each time there are new posts here.

Looks like this is causing a bit of concern in some areas of the community. There's some wording that suggests an annual/subscription license system is coming in... Could we get some sort of official clarification on this?
One of the more appealing elements of Unraid was the lifetime license option.
I thought I missed on things on the forum, so I did check on the Reddit thread.
It seems full of maybes and a self reinforcing loop of concerns. But I don't really understand the rootcause.
The code excerpt seems quite unconclusive.
Changing the update process to provide more details and a proper sequence to incite people to actually read the release is something that many people were asking for.
The goal is probably to reduce the number of people that end up in the very situation that was detailed in the release note.
The introduction through the Connect plugin was explained.
And I tend to agree that the use of plugin rather than baking everything in Unraid proper is a good solution for many reasons. Mainly because it allows for quicker updates when things need changing.
Now, I do not have any inside information and Limetech could play the evil genius and try to backstab the community, but I don't see any proofs or even hints of that to that day.
I do agree, however, that the situation with users' doubts and fears would require more communication from the team.

But isn't the Free ESXI a thing of the past with the new company policy ?

No issues either. 😉

Hi @ajhdr,
Please attach you syslog or better again your diagnostics.
No one will scroll such a long log extract.

it's not going to get you the best efficiency either (relative to what's possible with Intel).
Not sure any potential efficiency gains can overcome the price difference of a free CPU in this situation over the lifetime of the system.

Connect is used to facilitate remote access to the Unraid webUI for maintenance tasks.

This one must use a port multiplier and that's not recommended.
The 3rd image shows 1166 and 575, I would guess that it means ASM1166 controller + JMB575 port multiplier.
If you need more than 6 ports, two controllers should provide more performance.

Hi every one
I have an ASUS PRIME B760M-A WIFI D4 (V2) motherboard and a SanDisk Cruzer Blade - 32GB with Unraid, the installer for Unraid ran without problems
my problem is that it won't boot automatically on USB, but if I go into the BIOS and select it manually, it wants to boothave you tried to turn fastboot OFF ?

Hi, @Alex J, you should contact support.

Is the PSU properly set up ?
Is the power button properly connected to the MB ?
When you say 'nothing happens', is there any lights on the MB going on, PSU or CPU fans moving at all ?

I notice that your cache only share show as protected and mine don't. Is this because you're running a cache pool?
My cache pool has redundancy (RAID10 in my case, would be the same in RAID1 I suppose)
-

My request seems simple compared to most of the others. I would just like when you open the shares tab it showed which disks are being used by each drive,
You mean "which disks are used by each share" ?
If so, it is one click away with "Compute". Either for one share or for all.

Yeah I realized that some time after I posted. But I figured that having an official answer would still be useful for the Community.
