  1. Thanks, that makes sense. I have tuned down the memory to 3200, but turns out it was because of a conflict of USB controllers. I passed through the upstream "Non-Essential Instrumentation [1300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Starship/Matisse Reserved SPP". But as soon as I entered Windows the whole vm crashed. I will now test the stability of 3600 Thanks for your advice!
  2. Thanks for your reply. I am aware of the memory speed limit of 3200. However, it appears that the memory instability tends to lock up the server, rather than causing reboot. Have you got a chance to look the diagnostics and see if there is any problem? Thanks.
  3. Dear all, Happy new year, may you and your loved ones safe and happy for 2021! I recently upgraded my server to Ryzen 3000 with 32G 3600 CL16 memory following the great advice from the community. However, since I set up the system I have experienced twice random reboots (Machine Check Events detected as suggested by Fix Common Problems). The latest one happened just after I shut down my Windows 10 vm. I have installed the mcelog since the first reboot but I cannot seem to find the mcelog in the latest diagnostics. Can anyone have a look and see if the unclean reboot is related to the vm or something more serious has happened? Some info for the vm: This vm uses a RX580 Pulse primary GPU passthrough. It was booted from a dedicated Samsung 970 Evo nvme drive migrated from an existing vdisk to the nvme for dual boot (following Spaceinvader One's videos). It took me some time to set up the GPU passthrough (using the Q42 machine solved the problem in the end) but I have to use the 170310 ROM from TechPowerup. Thank you very much for your help in advance. tower-diagnostics-20210104-1442.zip
  4. Hi ChatNoir, Thank you very much for your prompt reply, that is the table I was looking for! I am wondering with the recent releases of Unraid is there any improvement of the support? If not I think 3200CL14 is the safe option.
  5. Hi everyone, I have been using Unraid for about two years now and have benefited a lot from the forum and @SpaceInvaderOne's videos. Previously I have been using a Ryzen 2 2400G-based system but this year I have so far upgraded to ASUS x570 strix E. I am waiting to get a good deal on 3900x and a pair of 2x16G G.Skill Trident Z NEO memory sticks but not sure about the speed I should go for. From the latest AMD website: https://www.amd.com/en/products/ryzen-compatible-memory/ready-for-3rd-gen-amd-ryzen It appears that both 3200mhz CL14 and 3600mhz CL16 are supported: https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562838637/F4-3200C14D-32GTZNTrident-Z-NeoDDR4-3200MHz-CL14-14-14-34-1.35V32GB-(2x16GB) https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562839473/F4-3600C16D-32GTZNTrident-Z-NeoDDR4-3600MHz-CL16-16-16-36-1.35V32GB-(2x16GB) Both kits are also supported by motherboard: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/ROG_STRIX_X570-E_GAMING/AMD_Matisse_for_ROG_STRIX_X570-E_GAMING_DRAM_QVL_20190912.pdf I heard 3200mhz was the officially supported highest speed but 3600mhz is the sweet spot. I am wondering if anyone knows 2x16G 3600 CL16 memory is supported in Unraid? For future upgrade to 5000 series (in a few years time), it seems 3600 CL16 is better but I need to know that it will first work for the upcoming 3900x. Thank you very much for your help in advance!
