Glad I found this topic. Having always used WD Reds in my array, I was quite taken back by seeing the raw read error rate values after 1 preclear pass for my brand new 10TB Seagate Exos. But using the Seagate smart calculator it reads as zero errors. Took quite a while to finish 1 pass of preclear (40 hours), I wonder if it is even worth doing two more passes. The drives have a 5 year warranty, you'd hope they would be fine (provided the mailman wasn't using the parcel for soccer practice). Interestingly, I started the preclear on both drives at the same time (both being 10TB), but their raw read error rate raw values differ quite a bit.

If you're looking for local stock, or decent or prices, anyway. No heat issues at all. I swapped out the exhaust fan with a silent Noctua fan. My drives stay under 32o. You can even lock each bay door if you're paranoid, lol.

Have been using such a case since 2008, with another added in 2011. Lian Li PC-P80B (2008) and PC-P80N (2011). Love them. Have added hotswap bays to the PC-P80B, and it serves as my DAS/Pfsense router. Went with 1x5, 2x 4, and 1x 3 hotswap enclosures. The N is my Unraid server/ Gaming rig. They are connected via SFP+ Mellanox 10GB NICs / SAS HBA card. The twin towers. Been going strong for two years now, but am only now starting to add additional drives. Put some 10TB Exos in today.
