  1. It was indeed set to Autostart : no. Im not sure why unless this is a side effect of a new config, but it seemed to do the trick.
  2. Hi all I'm having a weird issue where whenever I restart of shutdown my server it comes up with the new config screen as shown below when it reboots, has anyone seen this or knows how I can stop it from happening?? All my data appears to be intact and when I click start the array, it appears to start just fine. It just seems the array ALWAYS boots up in a stopped state.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion I shall try that when I finish backing up my shares. I do think however that the 900gig is the right number for the data and not the 5tb. I'm just surprised unraid would display it as 5tb.
  4. So I have a question with a weird issue. On my unraid server I have a share which according to krusader (and when I lookup the share In the unraid interface) shows as roughly 5+ TB's in size. Yet when I view that share either from windows using the mapped drive, or selecting all the folders in the share and right clicking and properties, again in windows it shows the share data is only 929GB This can't be right surely. One machine saying 929GB the other and source saying 5TB.
  5. Hi all , I'm just spitballing here but I have a question. Would there be any benefit to having a zfs RaidZ1 POOL configured to store all my array data but in a pool as opposed to on the array (and thus the shares be on it) then just have a regular old unraid ARRAY running sperately to hold backups of said data that's on the pool. In my tiny brain this would allow my pool to get the faster read and write speeds of the RaidZ1 pool, but also have a backup sitting in the actual array with a parity disk (or 2). Genuinely interested to see if this would work I just saw a video where a guy was getting really good write speeds from a RaidZ1 pool of spinners (way in excess of what I get from mine in my zfs array). I understand that having the backup drives physically in the same machine is not a sound backup strategy , but at least it would be on its own array!?? Thanks .. MM
  6. Hi all i am currently running an Unraid server across my 10 Gig backbone (Only have 1.2Gig Down and 40 Meg up ATM but should soon be upgrading to 5Gig symmetrical internet), My issue is this: Despite everything being connected by SFP+ and I have checked the Desktop (Also using an NVME) >>> Unraid server (cache drives which are NVME drives so thus should be able to saturate a 10G connection) speeds using the iperf3 and I got what I expected, see below, which leads me to believe the issue is not my hardware but is some configuration issue. Equipment: Unraid Server: Nvme Drives in a cache pool: 256GB SX8200PNP NVME Samsung 950 Pro 256GB 500GB San Disk SDSSDH3 (yes I'm aware this is a sata drive but I have tested without this in the server and still max speeds of 500MB/s over 10Gig. 128GB DDR3 Z9PE-D8 Mobo E5-2650V2 CPU x 2 Other drives are all Mechanical SATA in the ARRAY but I'm not testing files from the array I'm testing directly from the "Domains" share which is on my cache pool drives Using a mellanox ConnectX3 SFP card connected to Mikrotik CRS309-1G-8S+IN switch vis DC SFP+ DAC cables. Gaming Desktop: 24 core Threadripper 128GB DDR4 3090 Zenith II Extreme Alpha Using a mellanox ConnectX3 SFP card connected to Mikrotik CRS309-1G-8S+IN switch vis DC SFP+ DAC cables. NVME drive being used in the desktop (recieving computer at the moment): WDS500G3XHC-00SJG0 If anyone has any suggestions as to what I can try to get my transfer speeds as close to the expected 1Gig ish as possible that would be awesome. Ran Iperf3 multiple times and the results were pretty much the same as the screenshot included every time i ran it. The File(s) I tested with were separate vdisk files 100GB ish in size, that were located in my various VM folders in "domains". Please see the included diagnostics file, and thankyou in advance. unraid-diagnostics-20230426-0843.zip
  7. So I managed to fix the main issue I was having with my unraid server (the proxy issues) so far at least....by doing the following in case anyone has similar issues: If anyone has the same issues as I did above I fixed it by removing the containers (all relating to NginxProxyManager) and deleting the related folders in AppData, then re installed the NPM container and set up each proxy host 1 by one. So far its working flawlessly. Still having the weird issue where the array doesnt want to restart without rebooting if I stop it manually, but I can live with that for now!
  8. Hi All, So I'm having a couple of Issues with my UNRAID setup that only started recently I have some dockers setup (Guacamole/Nginx Proxy Manager/Cloudflare DDNS) every so often I will attempt to open guacamole for example and I'll be greeted with the image below, from what i can gather its an issue with the setup of my Unraid config/docker config as it states that the browser and cloud-flare are working correctly. The other Issue I'm having (although the one above is the most important to me) is that EVERY time i stop the array , I HAVE to reboot my unraid box otherwise the drives on the array screen show up like they are offline (editable with the drop downs) Lastly I have hardly ever been able to get the My servers plugin to work correctly and the in the top right always seems to be a red triangle icon with an exclamation mark in it. It didn't always behave like this and i have no idea what has cased the above issues, so I'm including my diagnostics to see if any o you smart folks could have a butchers. Thanks. 9. So I'm having the issue where I'm being told (by windows that there is no disk space remaining on my Unraid array every time I try to transfer a file to my downloads share). It's mental because I have 6TB of space on the array. Diagnostics included. Not sure whats causing this....unraid-diagnostics-20221030-0114.zip
  10. So the issue hasn't reared its ugly head again yet, I must give you my thanks @JorgeB seems to be working great now, thanks again, I guess its to do with my mellanox NIC and not playing nice with the Macvlan setting. Thanks again, Martin
  11. Thanks, I appreciate that and have followed your instructions I will post back should the issue re-arise. Also regarding updating to 10.6.3 I AM on 10.6.3 stable already.
  12. syslog-10.10.1.114.logSo I managed to get a syslog this is from just before the latest hang happened and also afterwards the hang happened late last night!
  13. and of course just when I think all is working fine again, it decides to lock up again. Of course the last log generated was at 11pm tonight so It's not even giving me a log I can use to diagnose the issue.
  14. So this issue hasn't happened since I replaced my flash drive with a newer bigger one, 8GB as opposed to 4GB although I suspect the size of it has a lot less to do with the issue being seemingly resolved than the fact that its much newer does. Will update if the issue persists but atm it seems to be resolved.
  15. Yeah I was doing that as a troubleshooting step, it wasn't on for long I enabled it yesterday but I havent had the same issue in the original post since I upgraded to 6.10.3 I do need to invest in a UPS though our power company is terribly unrealiable, and also want to replace my flash drive with a much newer/better one. So just as I'm writing this it did it again, I can navigate the menus just fine from another PC/my Android phone, but as soon as I try to interact with any of my Dockers/VM's/ etc it's all just hung, 3 cores on the CPU are maxxed out and to top it all off the last reported syslog recorded from the syslog server was at like 12 noon today (despite me knowing it was working much later than that this evening) I tried to run a manual diagnostic to the flash drive and it just stays on downloading but never actually creates a log file in boot/logs. I'm at a complete loss with this it seems it's rendered even obtaining log/diagnostic files impossible.
  16. Hmm so it started happening again, I must have setup the syslog server incorrectly though as I'm not getting a log saved to the flash, the share ive chosen or the remote location i entered the IP of. (Edit: I figured out what I was doing wrong with syslog....I had set the remote IP to a different PC that wasnt running the syslog program for windows. i have since used the "trickery" method to force the syslog file to my cache share on the same unraid box) Now i just need to wait for my issue to happen again and grab the syslog. When you say make a backup do you mean literally just clone the usb?
  17. Yeah I'm aware u want to do a clean shutdown when you can , but when unRAID isnt responding there isnt a whole lot you can do (for the record I had made most of the above changes shortly after adopting unRAID) this issue didn't allow me to do a graceful shutdown , despite the above changes having been made. Like I said time will tell but as of yet I haven't had the issue since I updated to 6.10.3 , we will see.
  18. Probably because the only way for me to shut down/restart the machine (because despite the menu interface responding it wont respond to certain functions in the GUI such as restart, shutdown or turning on/off dockers) when the issue occurs is to hard reset (meaning using the reset button on the server) which is far from ideal for obvious reasons. As an interesting aside I actually attempted to reboot the system using a terminal and the sudo shutdown -r and that also failed to do anything at all. I have now updated to 6.10.3 with none of the issues I had previously so time will tell (and I will post back here if it happens again) but so far so good, as a disclaimer when i got the "lock ups" before, it usually happened after being online for a fair few hours so i am not out of the woods yet. One of the easiest tell tell signs I've discovered for knowing when it happens is that like 3-4 of my CPU threads are constantly maxxed out when it happens, not running anything too taxing either just the base system and a few dockers.
  19. So I enabled the Syslog server and I looked in the logs folder on the flash drive but the latest file it has stored on there is a syslog which was "last updated" at 10.51am today , which doesn't make much sense unless that's when the system issue last occurred. (I'm having the same issue now BTW, dockers unresponsive , unable to restart the system through he UI etc ,but the web interface still loads various menu options, such as cycling between settings and home for e.g. Attatched the latest two syslog and tower-diagnostics-20220717-1853.zip files. tower-diagnostics-20220717-1853.zip syslog syslog
  20. I'm not at my machine atm but from memory I rolled back by using the built in function to do it , either that or I looked up a guide online which I can't seem to locate now. I am very interested in setting up sys log server so thanks for that , I will get it set up tonight and report back.
  21. I'm hoping someone can make sense out of this more than me, So I've been running Unraid for a while now and everything has been great, however just recently (since I swapped my off the shelf router for a 2U PC running OPNSense), I've been having this weird issue, It doesn't seem to manifest itself after a set amount of time (although its a good few hours until it happens) where, despite the Unraid interface working and being accessible from my desktop PC (connected to the same switch as the UNRAID box) via 10 GIG SFP (Mikrotik 10GIG switch), Unraid will appear to max out 4 of 5 of the cores on my Xeon CPUS (running 2 x Xeon E5-2650 v2's) and for all intents and purposes seems to freeze , despite being able to access it via a browser and open different pages I'm unable to access any of the shares etc, also the restart and power off (gracefully) buttons refuse to work, the ONLY way i can get it working again at this point is to reboot the system the physical way and thus incur a parity check every time. No idea what is causing this so I have included my diagnostics to see if any of you smart people can see anything somewhat obvious that someone untrained in the dark arts of UNRAID has as of yet been unable to decipher. So I reverted to 6.10.1 which is what I am running now. Thanks tons in advance any help/suggestions are welcome. Another weird thing I just noticed my shares used to be stored at \\UNRAID\XXXXX where XXXXX is the name of the folder shared , now it appears they are named \\TOWER\XXXXX which makes literally Zero sense to me. tower-diagnostics-20220717-1853.zip tower-syslog-20220717-2321.zip
  22. Hi all been using UNRAID for a good while now and I'm getting the stage where I'd really rather avoid the wife filing for divorce by me losing all our family photos and movies etc. stored on the UNRAID array , and a sure fire way to do that is to have a decent backup. Now none of this information is mission critical life or death data (although I wouldn't be surprised if I were to end up dead at the hands of her if i did lose it all) I jest. So here is my "dilemma": I currently run a separate windows 10 box using Windows Storage Spaces (in my rack) which I use as my game streaming machine/UNRAID backup server (to backup all my UNRAID shares) , but I've been struggling to find either a solution to: A) run a windows 10 application that can backup a bunch of UNRAD shares that are mapped to the backup Win 10 box as network drives , Ideally as one FULL backup then incremental backups after that preferably at a scheduled date/time as both the UNRAID box and the backup/streaming box are both 24/7 rack servers). B) Find some way that I can run something on my UNRAID server which at a scheduled time will do most of if not all of the above automatically to the Storage Spaces drive on the windows 10 box from the UNRAID box. Features I would Ideally like are 1. Able to perform a single initial FULL backup of all the drives (at the moment I have been copying and pasting which is a massive PITA) then following that incremental weekly scheduled backups (IF any files have changed been added etc.). 2. Speed of transfers as fast as they can be, now here I know I am limited to the transfer speeds of the various HDD's I have as all my LAN devices are connected via 10Gig and its only the internet that comes in on 1Gig ports etc. 3. Ideally I would like to be able to do this without having to move the streaming/UNRAID box to either Linux or another UNRAID server. I thankyou in advance and realize I may be missing info, I'm relatively new to UNRAID but I'm pretty tech savvy and have been thoroughly enjoying it , thanks again and I look forward to all your suggestions. P.S. I have enough space on my UNRAID backup (win10) box by far to backup my UNRAID server and also have 2 x drive parity on it so the backup server is good for 2 drive failures on that side.
  23. Anyone know of some COMPATIBLE pcie , USB (fastest A style a available) add in cards for an UNRAID server. I have a 16x pci-e 3.0 left to use. I've looked at the older posts , but more USB cards have come out since then, I remember reading that a certain ASMEDIA chipset worked for some users but I don't know which newer ones do/will. Also need compatibility for Linux(unraid), Windows 10/11 (vms) and Macosx (Vms). Thanks In advance
