  2. Overbyrn, (Rich) I tried various things and looked at the files you suggested. modified some but no go... the good part is i know where some security stuff is. Interestingly, I plugged one of my usb sticks in and bingo!! - i see it and can access files etc... So i thought , yeah its working...... but when i plug several other usb sticks - they appeared but so did the Denied access. Hmmm, what was different, Well, it turns out the one that worked was formatted as NTFS and the ones that did not work were all FAT32. As soon as I Formatted the other usb sticks to NTFs they all appeared and no access problems. Another oops bites the dust!! All working fine now Thanks for your help.. Joe
  3. overbyrn, Thanks for the reply if i manually add guest ok = yes in the [blueusb] and reboot - still no change I plug / unplug usb stick - no change - access denied I even tried another formatted usb stick called blueusb - But still get access denied, however, it does not ask for password --------------------------------------------------------- I also went to the snap-global-template - which looks ok [global] security = USER guest account = nobody public = yes guest ok = yes map to guest = bad user --------------------------------------------- my smb-extra.conf looks like this [global] security = USER guest account = nobody public = yes guest ok = yes map to guest = bad user [blueusb] path = /mnt/disk/blueusb read only = No Still not allowing me to view the usb stick.. I also run a 4.7 unraid server and snap works perfectly on it - so it appears to be related to unraid 5b12a permission differences. Any help would be appreciated - Thanks Joe
  4. I installed s.n.a.p .47 on UnRaid 5 bld12a. I assigned a usb drive (orangeusb) and can now see it in Windows PROBLEM: as soon as i try to access it: I get access denied. Enter name and passwordd. I have ntfs-3g installed and running -------------------------------------------------- If i run testparm i get: orangeusb my----------------- sharename path = /mnt/disk/orangeusb readonly= no ---------------------------------------------------------------------- It appears guest ok = yes is missing ls -l displays: drwxrw---- 7 root users orangeusb/ I have plugged and unplugged the usb , rebooted unraid - no change Any suggestions on how to solve the access problem Thanks Joe
  5. I have been using S.N.A.P for the past few months and am enjoying this great addon. I have been using an auto copy script which has been working fine. This evening I added a new usb thumbdrive with a share name of "lex8gjump" I see the drive and can copy to and from just fine. The problem is that it does not auto copy when inserted. I have added the share name, to the auto copy script, inserted and reinserted but no copy or beeps occur. My previously added thumbdrives (bluec4) etc - auto copy fine.... Would someone please have a look to see where I might have made a mistake?? Or have some suggestions to solve the issue I am using unraid 4.7 THANKS JOEMAN Below is THE AUTOCOPY SCRIPT ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ### hotPlugAfterShareEvent.sh ### This script will be called when a device is hotplugged in, after it has been shared. ### BOOTCONFIG=/boot/config SNAPHOME=/boot/config/snap #Load common code. source $SNAPHOME/snapCommon.sh PATH=$PATH:./ export PATH usage() { cat << EOF usage: $0 options OPTIONS: -d Device Id -e Event -p Partition -m Mount point -s SerialNumber from snap.list -h Share name from snap.list -q Quiet EOF } if [ -z "$1" ] then usage fi while getopts a:d:e:h:m:p:s:q option do case "${option}" in a) ACTION=$OPTARG;; d) DEVICEID=$OPTARG;; e) EVENT=$OPTARG;; p) PARTITION=$OPTARG;; m) MOUNTPOINT=$OPTARG;; # same as sharepoint s) SERIALNUMBER=$OPTARG;; h) SHARENAME=$OPTARG;; q) QUIET="TRUE";; \?) usage exit 1;; esac done echo "Running hotPlugAfterShareEvent.sh" case $SHARENAME in 'bluec4' | 'blackc4' | 'blackhip16' | 'SDCARD' | 'photosd' | 'lex8gjump') # # MAKE A BEEP STARTING COPY SOUND ---------------------------------- beep -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000 beep -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000 #ASSIGN A LOCATION WHERE YOU WANT DATA TO BE COPIED TO ------------- destination="/mnt/disk2/${SHARENAME}data" # #IF DESTINATION DOES NOT EXIST THEN MAKE DIRECTORY------------------ if [ ! -d $destination ] then mkdir $destination fi #It will copy updated and new files only. The cure was to save my modified script using METAPAD - the free text editor Oops ....... Thought I would leave the post here in case someone finds it useful..
  6. Queeg, Yeehah!! - EXCELLENT - Works like a charm. I modified the script with your suggestions then: Plugged in the blue usb and it beeped and copied. .and beeped again... then tried the black usb and it worked as well I see the new dirs in disk 3 - and can read /write / delete - files Thanks again, for the support and for a great UNRAID Addon!! Joe
  7. queeg, I finally got it working with this: echo "Running hotPlugAfterShareEvent.sh" case $SHARENAME in 'bluec4') # MAKE A BEEP STARTING COPY SOUND ---------------------------------- beep -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000 beep -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000 #ASSIGN A LOCATION WHERE YOU WANT DATA TO BE COPIED TO ------------- destination="/mnt/disk3/blueC4data" #IF DESTINATION DOES NOT EXIST THEN MAKE DIRECTORY------------------ if [ ! -d $destination ] then mkdir $destination fi #COPY ALL AND SUBDIRS FROM WHERE THE SNAP SHARE IS MOUNTED(MOUNTPOINT) TO THE DESTINATION (disk3/blueC4data) # cp -r $MOUNTPOINT/* $destination 2>&1 >> $SNAPHOME/hotPlugAfterShareEvent.log # # MAKE WINDOWS SHARE VISABLE PLUS READ / WRITE ----------------------- # chmod 666 $destination/* # #BEEP JOB IS DONE----------------------------------------------------- beep -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000 beep -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000 beep -r 5 -l 100 -f 2000 ;; esac -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. What command structure would I use if I wanted to copy only the new dir and or files to destination disk3/blueC4data? In other words I would like the script to check to see if any files on the usb stick are already at the destination (disk3/blueC4data) and if yes then do not copy over existing only copy new files? 2. Where would i add the name to make another but similar script work as well... I have another usb stick (blackc4) Thanks again for your support Joe
  8. queeg, Here is the content of snap.list DEF10B1916B3-0:0=USBFIREFLY DEF106207355-0:0=EXTWD250 0F1007579239-0:0=netdisk80 20060572910EF1A2098C-0:0=bluec4 I decided to reformat the usb stick (ntfs) and noticed I get the ist set of tones, but now I see activity on the usb stick led indicating like it was copying then i get the second set of tones. I looked at disk3 on my unraid by telnet - but no Backup dir... I also looked at disk3 windows unraid share and did not find and new directory either Also there is no Backup/bluec4 dir I am logged in on the telnet as root. 9. queeg, I did a cd to disk3 but could not see the backup dir When i plug the usb stick in (bluec4) I do get a set of tones then a pause then a set of tones. But there is very little time between the tones - leading me to believe it could not copy that fast. I removed the - u - no change. I can see the bluec4 in windows share. I checked the snap event logs but did not see any thing with reference to bluec4 usb etc Joe

I would appreciate some help working this out.... Thanks Joe
  11. I installed the latest snap .47 bld28 on my Unraid 4.7 - All went fine I plugged in my usb drive assigned and named it - and can see and access it from a Windows computer. The problem is I don't have full permission levels on the new share drive. I can copy from the usb SNAP share but cannot copy to it. Also I cannot delete files from the SNAP share I just installed NTFS-3G......... all working fine !! copy to and delete ok I just did a reboot and watched it all install and it looked fine, however when i go to the Snap share drive I can no longer copy to or delete - looks like i lost permission again I decided to shutdown Unraid and unplug my usb snap drive Once Unraid booted up, I plugged in the USB snap drive - Now all is working fine - read write delete Thanks for Another great Addon for Unraid!! Joe
  12. Does anyone know if there is a subsonic codecs available for encoding xvid videos? Thanks Joe
  13. I am running Subsonic 4.4 - all seems to be work well. 1. The only problem I noticed was that my rc.local_shutdown file has multiple entries, which keep growing. The longer i run the system or shutdown / reboot - the more entries appear in the file.. I delete them all but one set - but the next time i look more entries reappear. Any suggestions how to get rid of this would be much appreciated. Joe
  14. I was quite sure I needed to use the initconfig but wanted an expert to confirm. I have done the initconfig and system is rebuilding the parity.. and can now see the data on the new drive Thanks!! Joe
  15. I am running 2 unraid systems - one is v4.56 the other 4.57 I would like to remove a 1.5 tb HD (full of good data which i would like to keep) from the 4.57 system and add it to my 4.56 unraid. In this effort, i removed the 1.5 TB drive from the 4.57 system and installed it on the 4.56 system, I assigned it as drive 4. The array is stopped and now displays the new HD (full of good data) with a blue icon. The only option i see is to start the array.... but i am not sure is this will cause my data to disappear on the HD with the Blue icon Some guidance on how to proceed would be very much appreciated!! Joe
  16. I have one of the new WD 1tb EARS installed in my unraid. Its been running for a couple of weeks as my parity drive. I have run several parity checks and no errors... The drive appears to be running very well Joe
  17. Thanks Jupilerman - /mnt/disk1/SABdownloads/complete ----worked perfect..... Joe
  18. I loaded all the files and the gui interface comes up fine. In the configuration area under Config / Folders, I am trying to setup the SABdirectories complete to be on my disk1(hda) of the Unraid array. I tried several approaches - /mnt/user/SABdownloads/complete but no directories appear Could someone provide me with the correct info to put the Sabdirectory complete to show up in my disk1 of my unRaid array... Thanks.. Joe
  19. Excellent - installed the rutorrent package on unraid 4.5 final with umenu installed and it worked perfectly. Thanks Again!! Joe
  20. A Great Idea ...I look forward to trying it out.. I also run a WHS, and having the ability to backup to unraid would be a very valuable addon. I presume you will be able to backup all WHS drives including the system drive. Joe
  21. Looks like another good application to add to the URaid Server.. I look forward to your steps on loading it on the UnRaid.. Joeman2116
