  1. There's a few posts in this thread that one might find useful for mini-ITX even if the initial focus was on lower power setups with cpus integrated.

I'm interested in the Minisforum MS-01 system with 2 SFP+ ports and a free PCI-Express slot but they won't ship until April 20th or so. It would work well with an external 4-drive cage.

I was looking for what networking options I could use on my Legion Go that has 40 Gbps USB-C ports. So the timing of this thread was convenient.

    The motherboard is:

ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG STRIX B760-I GAMING WIFI

Thunderbolt and USB-C aren't exactly the same, that cable will convert Thunderbolt 3 to USB-C.

The end on the 10Gb Network adapter is female.

The ends on that  "adapter cable" is female.

    How will you couple them?

  3. You shouldn't need the cable. That adapter seems to have it built in.

I don't know how unraid will see the device and if it has drivers.

Out of curiosity what MB do you have?

    From a review:

I wanted one with an integrated cable and this looks pretty well put together as the cable is detachable but requires a couple screws to be removed. So it’s secure in there you don’t need to worry about the adapter side to be a failure point.

Hi im in the market for buying a 10 gig switch with a minimum 2 10gb ports. I thought id found the ideal switch for my specific setup in  the QNAP QSW-2104-2T but reading the review below has got me really concerned , im sure ive read something similar in other posts..I predominatley need 2 10 gig ports, the rest can be 2.5gb . I dont necessarily need all 10gb as i will only have 2 devices that will make use of it an i dont want to spend extra money on something , when that money could easily go towards a 10gig card. Can anyone recommend a reliable switch to go for, that isnt going to start playing up after some use.

I would advise to look at Serve The Home as they have reviewed a metric ton of mixed 2.5G / 10G switches which includes 10 GBase-T and SFP+ model variants.

Thinking of jumping from 6.10.something up to this. Or should I take an intermediate release first?

I‘ve seen macvlan and ipvlan mentioned a few times for things to watch out for but have no idea what this setting is. I haven’t changed anything from the docker defaults I don’t believe…

    Thanks for any help.

Last weekend, I upgraded straight from 6.10.x to 6.12.8 without issues.

  6. Not surprised, but still disappointed with this aspect (as it stands now):

As of now, we do not plan to backport or provide security updates to ineligible users whose update window has expired. However, we are reviewing this decision and intend to do what’s best for users and the company. We will follow up when this review is complete.

Does NerdTools have or can we request any of the following for disk management to wipe prior to decommission, donate or sell a hard drive?

    • Shred - A command-line utility available in most Linux distributions for overwriting and deleting individual files.
    • dd - While not specifically a data wiping tool, dd can be used to overwrite a disk with random data or zeros, effectively wiping it.
    • hdparm - A command-line tool to set and view ATA hard disk drive hardware parameters, including initiating a Secure Erase command.

Any of the top, would be appreciated it.

Those 3 are built into the base unRaid install.

This looks like a pretty exciting option for a 15 drive configuration.

I have two Q30s (and have posted on those before), but this looks like a really great option.  I've been unabashed in my apprecaition for these cases, and while this still isn't the cheapest option, they sure are great cases for cooling and working in.

While trying to figure out any actual information about the case such as the motherboard section, is it large enough for SSI EEB motherboards (dual socket cpu boards like the AsRock EP2C602-4L/D16) I found their FAQ posted here:

The link is via clicking on a notification - I do not see how embedding the link in the page can be leveraged from a notification?   I wonder if it can be embedded in the text part of a notification in some way - might need to try that next.

Ah yeah, I lost that context.

I found it can be an external link to the User Manual, but that it loads into the tab that is currently displaying the GUI.   That was why I asked about a way to force a new tab.    I now need to decide if the value of displaying the relevant manual page out-weighs the downside of the user now having to reload the Unraid GUI into another tab.

Have you tried embeding the contents of the User Manual page inside a div in the current page using javascript?

/mnt/user directory is the default directory for accessing user data, while /mnt/user0 directory is the backup directory. If your system configuration includes multiple user data disks, /mnt/user0 directory will point to the first user data disk, while /mnt/user directory will point to the other user data disks

    Incorrect.

  12. I think you want to run this on the unraid device such as /dev/md# so you're doing it on the drives inside the parity protected array.

If you run it on /dev/sdx#/ then you are invalidating the parity since you are writing below the devicemapper. Also, you need to run it on a partition, such as /dev/sdc1 (first partition). Specifying /dev/sdc is for the entire drive. That is why it can't find any valid filesystems..

The /dev/md# syntax may have changed on 6.12 unraid versions for ZFS tomfoolery, so check what the right device name is. I'm still on 6.11 where it's /dev/md1 for first partition of the first drive in the array.

Only use /dev/sdX1 if you are recovering to another drive.
