  1. As we all know, parity is not a backup, and you never know when something happens. I am looking for a solution to use a good cloud provider, such as, sync, crashplan or spideroaks. The idea is to make incremental backups of the data, in my case I have a nextcloud with content that I would like to backup, but the flash drive would be a good idea to backup as well. Doing incremental backups once a day for a week, then at the end of each week make an archive of the backups and send it over to one of the providers mentioned above. I believe that this script will help with the first part of making the incremental backups. The scripit of putting them together in an archive and encrypting them can most likely be solved with borgmatic. But is there any apps to use with sync, crashplan or spideroaks? Greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to achieve this. Thanks
  2. Thank you for this! I followed the steps outlined, it worked like a charm. Recreated the dockers with going to "Docker" then "Add Container" and just added one of the ones I had used before and everything worked like a charm!
  3. As the topic reads, was trying to install a new docker app, and recieved an error with "read-only file system". When checking the logs, I could see similar issues where the current dockers are unable to write logs time="2021-03-04T11:53:11.079134440+01:00" level=error msg="Failed to log msg \"\" for logger json-file: write /var/lib/docker/containers/4312a9b16e3a529e33ebc383c2a8b41800d7ffaa72f3b91b9fb609f7a172d569/4312a9b16e3a529e33ebc383c2a8b41800d7ffaa72f3b91b9fb609f7a172d569-json.log: read-only file system" There does not seem to be any issues with creating files or folders on the cache drive itself, so I assume that the docker img have become correpted. Attached is the diagnostics. If someone could please help me out here, and also please tell me where you find things so I can get a greater understanding of how to TS unraid. If it is the docker img that is corrupted, is there a process on how to replace the docker img file and keep the settings, since the config files are in the /appdata/* I assume it should just be to remove the old docker image, get a new and reinstall the apps? Thanks in advance!
  4. Thanks for letting me know. I did search for it, just not on the forum itself, did not find anything indexed. I'll keep running Catalina for a while.
  5. First of all, thank you so much for an amazing application, and also all your vidoes, they have been extremely helpful throughout the years. I followed your latest video, "How to Install Big Sur and Other macOS Versions with New Macinabox". When everything was downloaded and ready, I started the VM and was about to install big sur. For some reason the downloaded version was actually Catalina. I have no idea how or why. I checked the docker, and it is set to "big sur". Also the name of the directory in "/mnt/user/domains/" is called "Macinabox\ BigSur" and the isos in the "/mnt/user/isos" are named "BigSur-install.img" and "BigSur-opencore.img". The log in the docker says the following version was selected "Selected macOS Product: 061-86291". At first I thought it might have been a corrupted iso, so I deleted everything, including docker, iso, domains, etc. But I had the same issue again. Let me know if you need any further logs or info.

  7. So turned out that I had a computer laying around. I thought it was a crappy computer, but was a Xeon E31220 with 8GB ram. And place for 4 drives and the cache. So did as you advised, now only running cache, parity and one 4TB, the other ones are waiting as cold spares. The heat went down a couple of degrees (C) and it's really quiet. Turned out to be a good thing to do. Now I can dedicate my other machine to just wasting my life with gaming 8-)
  8. Haha that's true statement.. yeah, right now I am also gaming from the server, but I was trying to move away from it. I love the concept. But I am getting massive lags and audio issues when trying to play Overwatch on the lowest settings using a GTX 970. Then it just crashes. I can play other games, like Age of Empires III without any issues what so ever. So the idea was to try and split the two into one dedicated gaming server and the other one being the server. Cheaper solution would probably just keep it as it is and try and solve the issues with breaking audio and bad performance from GPU. As they recommend "VIDEO CARD: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or ATI Radeon HD 7950" and my GTX 970 shouldn't have issues running it with lowest settings.
  9. no problem with moving data around the array. And just as you say, if I can move all data to one drive I can turn the other two off and save them some hours. Do you have an idea of what kind of CPU I would need running the above specs? I am looking into getting off as cheap as possible but with most bang for the buck to see what I can get. Not sure if I should got for an i5 or if I can get away with a G-CPU.
  10. Thanks a bunch for that advice. With moving over to a new setup this will absolutely be my go to way. As I currently do not need more than 2TB. But I guess there's no point in moving all data over to 1 drive and try to disconnect the other two?
  11. I today have a unraid build. But I am looking into transitioning into a smaller form factor (mini/micro-atx). The primary use for the computer will be the following Plex media server (maximum 2 simultaneous users) Running Ubiquiti Cloud Key (in VM) Running one additional Linux VM with low reqs. Running a few addons: sonarr, radarr, jackett, transmission_VPN, RDP-Calibre, cadvisor. In the future enable letsencrypt Current storage, which most likely will not change in the near future. Parity: Seagate IronWolf ST8000VN0022 256MB 8TB Disk 1-3: HGST Deskstar NAS HDN724040ALE640 64MB 4TB Cache: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB I might expand with one 4TB disk. But right now, I am using 2TB out of 12. So highly unlikely. The drives and the USB-key with unRAID is the only devices I have to spare. The only thing I have set my eyes on are the Fractal Node 304 case. Would highly appreciate if anyone could advise in the choice of CPU GPU (if needed for rendering) RAM (I am thinking 8-16GB) Motherboard PSU (SFX) I don't really have a strict budget. but I would like to try and get it all for under $500 If there's a huge advantage in getting something a bit more expensive it can be relevant to pick that thing over the other. Thanks in advance.
  12. So... I tried a lot of troubleshooting.. But I still got the IRQ problem. I saw something in the log which indicated that it got the wrong ROM. Which to me meant that it thought I was only running one GPU. So what I did was that I swapped the 970 and 950 on the motherboard. So that 950 is now in PCI-E 1 and 970 in PCI-E 2. This solved all my issues. But thanks to you I also got some other cleaning done that was problematic with the server. Big thanks for pointing me in the right direction.! TLDR: I have 2 GPU I set the GPU I wanted to use as passthrough on the PCI-E 2 rather than PCI-E1.
  13. I am running an i7-6700k with 64gb ram. in the first slot I have an MSI Geforce 970 4Gb, and in the second slot I have a Geforce 950. I am passing the 970 to the Windows VM, I've tried with both Windows 8.1 and 10, but I get extremely bad performance, laggy mouse and window movement. I've tried with reinstalling the drivers countless of times. I did try one of the tech roms, but just made the screen go black at boot. <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <domain type='kvm'> <name>Windows 10 - gaming</name> <uuid>0f8a944a-2f3b-1e40-b387-2ae19d8217c3</uuid> <metadata> <vmtemplate xmlns="unraid" name="Windows 10" icon="windows.png" os="windows10"/> </metadata> <memory unit='KiB'>8388608</memory> <currentMemory unit='KiB'>8388608</currentMemory> <memoryBacking> <nosharepages/> </memoryBacking> <vcpu placement='static'>2</vcpu> <cputune> <vcpupin vcpu='0' cpuset='0'/> <vcpupin vcpu='1' cpuset='2'/> </cputune> <os> <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-i440fx-3.0'>hvm</type> <loader readonly='yes' type='pflash'>/usr/share/qemu/ovmf-x64/OVMF_CODE-pure-efi.fd</loader> <nvram>/etc/libvirt/qemu/nvram/0f8a944a-2f3b-1e40-b387-2ae19d8217c3_VARS-pure-efi.fd</nvram> </os> <features> <acpi/> <apic/> <hyperv> <relaxed state='on'/> <vapic state='on'/> <spinlocks state='on' retries='8191'/> <vendor_id state='on' value='none'/> </hyperv> </features> <cpu mode='host-passthrough' check='none'> <topology sockets='1' cores='1' threads='2'/> </cpu> <clock offset='localtime'> <timer name='hypervclock' present='yes'/> <timer name='hpet' present='no'/> </clock> <on_poweroff>destroy</on_poweroff> <on_reboot>restart</on_reboot> <on_crash>restart</on_crash> <devices> <emulator>/usr/local/sbin/qemu</emulator> <disk type='file' device='disk'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw' cache='writeback'/> <source file='/mnt/user/domains/Windows 10 - gaming/vdisk1.img'/> <target dev='hdc' bus='virtio'/> <boot order='1'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x0'/> </disk> <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source file='/mnt/user/isos/Win10_1809Oct_EnglishInternational_x64.iso'/> <target dev='hda' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <boot order='2'/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source file='/mnt/user/isos/virtio-win-0.1.160-1.iso'/> <target dev='hdb' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='1'/> </disk> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-ehci1'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x7'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci1'> <master startport='0'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x0' multifunction='on'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci2'> <master startport='2'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x1'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci3'> <master startport='4'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x2'/> </controller> <controller type='pci' index='0' model='pci-root'/> <controller type='ide' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x01' function='0x1'/> </controller> <controller type='virtio-serial' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x03' function='0x0'/> </controller> <interface type='bridge'> <mac address='52:54:00:9d:a5:2e'/> <source bridge='br0'/> <model type='virtio'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02' function='0x0'/> </interface> <serial type='pty'> <target type='isa-serial' port='0'> <model name='isa-serial'/> </target> </serial> <console type='pty'> <target type='serial' port='0'/> </console> <channel type='unix'> <target type='virtio' name='org.qemu.guest_agent.0'/> <address type='virtio-serial' controller='0' bus='0' port='1'/> </channel> <input type='mouse' bus='ps2'/> <input type='keyboard' bus='ps2'/> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <driver name='vfio'/> <source> <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x01' slot='0x00' function='0x0'/> </source> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x05' function='0x0'/> </hostdev> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <driver name='vfio'/> <source> <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x01' slot='0x00' function='0x1'/> </source> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x06' function='0x0'/> </hostdev> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb' managed='no'> <source> <vendor id='0x046d'/> <product id='0xc248'/> </source> <address type='usb' bus='0' port='1'/> </hostdev> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb' managed='no'> <source> <vendor id='0x046d'/> <product id='0xc332'/> </source> <address type='usb' bus='0' port='2'/> </hostdev> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb' managed='no'> <source> <vendor id='0x1b1c'/> <product id='0x0a03'/> </source> <address type='usb' bus='0' port='3'/> </hostdev> <memballoon model='none'/> </devices> </domain> Let me know if you want me to dig up anything else that might help solve this issue. nas-diagnostics-20190302-0124.zip
  14. Two times my unRAID server have lost power due to some reason. Every time the configuration for this docker was reset. When I try to access the docker I get a brand new installation screen.. soo I have to do everything all over again.. Not a delight.. So what can be done about this? Last time it happened I set up to create a DAILY backup of the configuration so that it could be pulled from the docker image and used for a restore.. No luck there either. I did try and do it all in a one liner with the following result: root@nas:/usr/bin# /etc/init.d/mongodb stop && ./mongod --dbpath /usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db --port 27117 --unixSocketPrefix /usr/lib/unifi/run.gEBoakb5 * Stopping database mongodb ...done. 2017-12-22T08:19:20.224+0000 [initandlisten] MongoDB starting : pid=1026 port=27117 dbpath=/usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db 64-bit host=nas 2017-12-22T08:19:20.224+0000 [initandlisten] db version v2.6.10 2017-12-22T08:19:20.224+0000 [initandlisten] git version: nogitversion 2017-12-22T08:19:20.224+0000 [initandlisten] OpenSSL version: OpenSSL 1.0.2g 1 Mar 2016 2017-12-22T08:19:20.224+0000 [initandlisten] build info: Linux lgw01-12 3.19.0-25-generic #26~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 24 21:16:20 UTC 2015 x86_64 BOOST_LIB_VERSION=1_58 2017-12-22T08:19:20.224+0000 [initandlisten] allocator: tcmalloc 2017-12-22T08:19:20.224+0000 [initandlisten] options: { net: { port: 27117, unixDomainSocket: { pathPrefix: "/usr/lib/unifi/run.gEBoakb5" } }, storage: { dbPath: "/usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db" } } 2017-12-22T08:19:20.235+0000 [initandlisten] journal dir=/usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db/journal 2017-12-22T08:19:20.235+0000 [initandlisten] recover begin 2017-12-22T08:19:20.235+0000 [initandlisten] info no lsn file in journal/ directory 2017-12-22T08:19:20.235+0000 [initandlisten] recover lsn: 0 2017-12-22T08:19:20.235+0000 [initandlisten] recover /usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db/journal/j._0 2017-12-22T08:19:20.236+0000 [initandlisten] recover create file /usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db/local.ns 16MB 2017-12-22T08:19:20.300+0000 [initandlisten] recover create file /usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db/local.0 64MB 2017-12-22T08:19:20.523+0000 [initandlisten] recover create file /usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db/ace.ns 16MB 2017-12-22T08:19:20.588+0000 [initandlisten] recover create file /usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db/ace.0 64MB 2017-12-22T08:19:20.822+0000 [initandlisten] recover create file /usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db/ace_stat.ns 16MB 2017-12-22T08:19:20.899+0000 [initandlisten] recover create file /usr/lib/unifi/data.RMy4as2V/db/ace_stat.0 64MB 2017-12-22T08:19:21.151+0000 [initandlisten] recover cleaning up 2017-12-22T08:19:21.151+0000 [initandlisten] removeJournalFiles 2017-12-22T08:19:21.159+0000 [initandlisten] recover done 2017-12-22T08:19:22.091+0000 [initandlisten] ERROR: listen(): bind() failed errno:98 Address already in use for socket: 0.0.0.0:27117 2017-12-22T08:19:22.091+0000 [initandlisten] ERROR: addr already in use 2017-12-22T08:19:22.092+0000 [initandlisten] now exiting 2017-12-22T08:19:22.092+0000 [initandlisten] dbexit: 2017-12-22T08:19:22.092+0000 [initandlisten] shutdown: going to close listening sockets... 2017-12-22T08:19:22.092+0000 [initandlisten] shutdown: going to flush diaglog... 2017-12-22T08:19:22.092+0000 [initandlisten] shutdown: going to close sockets... 2017-12-22T08:19:22.092+0000 [initandlisten] shutdown: waiting for fs preallocator... 2017-12-22T08:19:22.092+0000 [initandlisten] shutdown: lock for final commit... 2017-12-22T08:19:22.092+0000 [initandlisten] shutdown: final commit... 2017-12-22T08:19:22.122+0000 [initandlisten] shutdown: closing all files... 2017-12-22T08:19:22.123+0000 [initandlisten] closeAllFiles() finished 2017-12-22T08:19:22.123+0000 [initandlisten] journalCleanup... 2017-12-22T08:19:22.123+0000 [initandlisten] removeJournalFiles 2017-12-22T08:19:22.131+0000 [initandlisten] shutdown: removing fs lock... 2017-12-22T08:19:22.131+0000 [initandlisten] dbexit: really exiting now I am not sure if I didn't set the permission right or if it was just that I used && instead of ; so it had to wait for it to finish, or that the script that sense mongodb going down is just very fast. 15. @MowMdown No, my subnet is 255.255.255.0, ergo /24. a /8 is 255.0.0.0. Left side is host bits vs right side is the network bits. so I am using the following. 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 Each part between the dots are called octets, which means that both the host part and the network part each got themselves four octets. Each octet has 8 binaries. where you can see 1 to be on and 0 to be off. 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 is equal to Host: 00001010 00000000 00000000 00000000 = 10.0.0.0 Network: 11111111 11111111 11111111 00000000 = 255.255.255.0 Looking at the binary of it. 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 From left to right, each number represent the above value. In a /24 you have 256 IP addresses, however only 254 are usable, since you need to have a network ID which is .0 and a broadcast IP which is .255. in a /16, which is equal to 255.255.0.0 or 11111111 11111111 00000000 00000000 where you have 256 x 256 = 65 536 addresses A /8 is equal to the one you are referring to, 255.0.0.0 or 11111111 00000000 00000000 00000000 which is 256 x 256 x 256 = 16 777 216 addresses. I hope you don't mind me explaining it, and that it doesn't make me look like I am trying to put you on the spot or anything. I use to be a Network Security Consultant before, so networking is something I know @binhex Ahh, excellent, thanks. I hopes that would solve the issue with having my openvpn config files group and globally read & writable. But apparently it is not applicable to those. Thanks =)
  16. @MowMdownNo, I am using only 10.0.0.1-10.0.0.254 (*.0 is Network ID and *.255 is Broadcast). And it seems like the issue is more related to folder and / or file permissions. Thanks though =)

  18. I thought I was gonna be able to solve this on my own, but obviously I was mistaken. supervisord.log provided. It seems like I am not getting an IP address from the VPN provider. It works when trying it in Tunnelblick on my mac. Second issue is that it all of the sudden is unable to resolve the VPN gateway addresses. Issues: ... ... Want to fix: Files in /openvpn are set to chmod 777. Even if I set the umask to 377. If you want me to provide more information, feel free to let me know. UPDATE: After reading into it I saw some people had problems with their DNS servers. So I did a dig on my VPN hostnames and received the IP addresses to the hostnames and added those as "remote" in the OpenVPN config instead. And: 2017-09-09 18:18:32,151 DEBG 'start-script' stdout output: [info] Successfully retrieved external IP address XXX.YYY.ZZZ.AAA supervisord.log
  19. woop.. update.. I found it in another mail.. I will check it out (Y) yeah.. installed and ready to roll! Thanks for making me think twice!
  20. Apparently I either never bought a license or I managed to lose it. I checked my email and I've never received an email from lime-tech about a license and they could not see any information in their records. So either way I will need to buy a license in the end. First I would like to see that I can game on the platform.
  21. When trying to request a 30 days trial license for my Lexar JD Firefly USB stick I get the following error: Sorry, an error (403) occurred registering USB Flash GUID <GUID removed> The error is: GUID '<GUID removed>' is already registered to another user Sooo I feel quite stuck here. If anyone have any suggestions, feel free. I have already sent this in as a support case for the Lime-tech guys. But I thought the support forum might have some insight into this as well. Thanks in adance
  22. Thanks all. My machine is now up and running. Got some licensing issues though, but I will solve them with Lime-tech. see if someone in the forum have any idea of what to do, but a separate thread. CPU: Intel i7-6700 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 RAM: 64GB DDR4 GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 3GB + GeForce 950 The drives will be purchased as soon as can get the license part going.
  23. @bjp999ahh, excellent. Then I will go home and start working on the project. Exciting times =D
  24. @Frank1940Obviously I've already scanned through the manual Sorry for not making that clear in the previous post =)
  25. @itimpi True true, though the server is not up and running, so I can not check it. But yeah, I do have a paid license, I think I have the basic one, if I recall correctly, I have the plus license from v5. Then the biggest question will be whether or not my motherboard supports IOMMU or not. I know it supports VT-d. Any advice on finding out, except checking in BIOS or google. I have done the latter
