  1. This appears to be the same cage as sold in the USA as the NORCO SS-500. It would cost more, but you could probably have it shipped to your location. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=16-133-030 http://www.norcotek.com/product-category/storage-enclosure/hot-swap-storage-module/5-bays-hot-swap-module/
  2. It depends, on what else the drive is doing. For example if you are using the cache drive as your temp storage and you have files being downloaded, multiple plex streams, mover running etch then you can get stuttering. If nothing else is going then you are correct that you want notice the difference. I would like to use ram but unfortunately do not have enough memory.
  3. I would assume the original parity is not valid at this time. You can initiate a new parity build or just take a chance that a drive want fail. These are the steps I use. I have gone from a 3TB -> 4TB -> 4TB -> 6TB and am preclearing a 8TB now. 1 - Shut your server down and install the new drive. 2 - Reboot your server and ensure everything is working normally 3 - I will then do a 1, 2 and 2 cycle preclear or a 1, 3 and 3 cycle for either a 5 or 7 cycle test. Which I choose is based on the technology of the drive, ie is it new or has been around a while and a lot of people have used it. If it is going to fail I want it to fail now while I can exchange or return it. 4 - After the preclear, I do a new config and assign the new drive as the parity drive and let the parity rebuild. 5 - Assuming the rebuild is good, I run 1 preclear cycle on the old parity and then add it to the array.
  4. It would be helpful if people would include the information as to what version unRaid they are using with the status if the new plugins work correctly or have issues. For example, I will be probably be on Unraid v5.06 for at least another month or two as I will be moving my system into another case. I want to do a controlled step by step migration where I can hopefully find any issues as I go. My system is very stable and I want to keep it that way. Step 1 - Move into my new case and replace the fans in my 5in3 cages. Run for at least a week, including a parity check. Step 2 - Add a new 5in3 cage/fan plus a new controller. Test it out. Step 3 - Migrate my pluggins to phaZes new versions. Test it out and send another beer donation for the upgraded versions. For as much work that has gone into these since the first release of the plugins, it is worth an upgrade fee. Step 4 - Migrate to unRaid 6 using phaZes plugins. Stay on the plugins until Dockers are really sorted out. This may take a while. Step 5 - Long term solution move to Dockers as this is the recommended path by LT. This could take a very long time.
  5. This spreadsheet may help cleanup after you get the files at the top level directory. It requires excel. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=33689.msg328265#msg328265
  6. @Cstolworthy, I would get as much memory as you can get in it if you want to do ~20 streams. Plex caches the stream as it transcodes the video on whatever media you designate I believe. It does not delete the temporary transcoded copy until the player finishes playing the video. Even in direct stream, if it transcodes the audio, which happens a lot, it also keeps the video. If you have a lot of streams going, you could get disk thrashing as it writes and reads to you temporary disk. I would expect that SSDs might help. You might have to keep them out side the array and stripe them in a Raid 0 config. If you can set the temp directory to RAM, it should alleviate some of the issues. The only issues is you could run out of ram. If you are really serious about this many streams, you may have to separate the functions. You could start off with the 10/4 doing both functions. If that caps out, get a dedicated system just to do the plex transcoding. Just out of curiosity, assuming that most of these streams are not for local consumption, do you have enough uplink capacity to support that many streams.
  7. The number of sata ports supported on the MB determines how many, if any additional ports are needed via expansion cards. For example, this board can support 14 sata drives. http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon/c220/x10sl7-f.cfm This is the MB used by LT. Why dont you just re-purpose your current controller/expander you list in this post. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21470.msg190701#msg190701
  8. How many sata ports are on your motherboard. I use a SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8. Supposedly you can fit two in a system with no issues. Each can support 8 drives. There are others.
  9. I would reset the bios to default. The only change I would make is to ensure the flash is set as the 1st boot device. Make sure you have it plugged into a USB 2.0 port. If all of that works fine, then make any bios changes one at a time. EDIT: Also, since you purchased all new hardware, I would also reseat all the boards/cables.
  10. Thanks opentoe. Your post made me look and call in for my $5 credit. I ordered it Monday and it showed up today.
  11. That would be nice to have a checkbox that would allow you to toggle this on/off so that it would not be a custom change each time.
  12. 4224 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811219038 - With a 15% of discount code, SERV15FFPRMO, you can get this case for 354.44 shipped. This is a great deal.
  13. @opentoe Depending on where you are, Newegg just had the Antec 1200 on sale for US$124, plus a $20 rebate. I never count on rebates. I just checked and it is back up to $170. I currently have the 900 case and you can put in 3 3x5 cages. There is no extra room though. Depending on the motherboard, it can be a tight squeeze to get sata cables installed. I ordered one of the 1200s as I have come to the opinion large towers that can accommodate 4 3x5 cages are getting scarce and expensive. If you have the room and have not purchased your cages, then a Norco 4220 is the best bang for the buck in my opinion. You could always build a wood platform with 2x4's and turn it sideways. Also there is a Ikea unit for ~$20 I think that some people are using as a rack. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G28N3956&cm_re=antec_hundred-_-11-129-100-_-Product 4220 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811219033 4224 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811219038 - With a 15% of discount code, SERV15FFPRMO, you can get this case for 354.44 shipped. This is a great deal. I think this is the IKEA stand http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/44361109/ To bend the tabs, use a Deep throat C-clamp. One like this. http://www.harborfreight.com/8-inch-deep-throat-c-clamp-45917.html. They are worth it.
  14. Read through these and and it will probably answer most of your questions. Short answer is: 1 = both will work. Mem stick is preferred, but with correct card reader microsd cards could work. 2 = any NTFS disk will need to be mounted on a windows machine and data copied over as it is easiest way. 3 = Yes 4 = Depends on your server hardware. 5 = You can do everything from the GUI. Read through these and and it will probably answer most of your questions. http://lime-technology.com/getting-started/ http://lime-technology.com/videos/ http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/UnRAID_Manual_6
  15. @PhAzE, Thank you for your work on these. I currently use four of your plugins and plan to to continue using them after upgrading to R6. My setup currently works and I don't plan on moving to a Docker solution anytime soon.
  16. You could use MC, direct CLI, via your PC and there are other threads that discuss this. I put up an excel utility that might be helpful. You might want to look thru this thread. If you use my excel sheet, use the Indexer v 04.07-02-02-01e version. FYI, I have only ran this on Unraid v5.06. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=33689.0 This an overview of how I move directories. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=33689.msg328265#msg328265
  17. Actually, there are times I do not want to update to the latest version in the case of a reboot, both plugins and Docker. I wish there was a flag/check box that could be set so that auto updates to the latest do not occur until I tell it to. Not having tried any of the R6 loads, I do not know if you can suppress the updating of Docker images. In the interim, one nice thing about Phazes plugin is that it stores a copy of the files on the flash and will install them if there is no internet connectivity. An example of when this was desired is a one of the recent versions of Plex introduced stuttering on some peoples systems. I skipped that version all together. As a general rule, I wait at least a week before updating my plugins to see if there are any issues.
  18. See this post.: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=39607.msg375458#msg375458
  19. @CHBMB, I would use Delta copy if you want to use the rsync protocol and schedule a reoccurring update. For a one off, I would just terracopy.

  21. I don't know about built into R6, but here are a couple threads/utilites that should help: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=35183.0 http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=33689.0 and this one http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=35183.msg328600#msg328600
  22. @PhAze, I am on your v2 plugins. I believe I was on a Feb 2015 version, I think it was 23. Not really sure on exact day. I used the button inside the plugins page to do the update.
  23. Actually, I think it the directory change to root happened during the upgrade. There was a lot of activity on the cache drive and the pluggin control screen was very slow to come back. So I believe it copied the files to the root at that time. After I initiated the downgrade and it would not start the app I noticed the change to root. When I corrected it, it then moved all of root to my cache.
  24. @ PhAze, I was updating all of my plugins to the latest version, using the inline updater. I updated the BTSync plugin and it would not start. So i pressed the rollback button to the previous pug-gin version and that's when the fun began. The app would not start. Some how the "Config directory" setting became "/". When I fixed it to the correct path, my system proceeded to move everything, including all of the contents of my flash drive to "/mnt/cache/apps/BTSync/" I believe I have successfully recovered my system to the previous state with the exception of leaving the BTSync plugin out. Parity check is currently in progress as I had to hard shut it down. Just want to let you know.
  25. I thought this was a big issue in that you do not want to move from a defined disk to the user share level due to the potential loss of data. I was under the impression you needed to move for disk_x to disk_y. echo "Moving file $DISK/$SHARE/$FILE" echo " to /mnt/user/$SHARE/$FILE" See http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=34480.0
