  1. No, I thought that is was just /media but its all the shares. I can create folders, rename and delete items on any share including /media. I cannot copy a folder without permission being denied to any share. The strange thing is I can copy the FILE contents of a folder for which I get a "permission denied" error. So I can in effect copy folders over by manually creating each sub-folder and copying its files over, working my way through up the folders structure until everything is copied. Thank you JorgeB
  2. for /media I changed both the NFS & SMB security settings> Security to Public. I still get permission denied when I try to copy a file on to /media Thank you for getting back to me.

  4. /media is the share that I am trying to copy to. I can copy to some folders but not others. This share is split over two data disks. I did try running the command that you suggested but it is a bit hard to see the output through the multicoloured bars in the Unraid terminal. No matter which PC I use I get the bars in the terminal.
  5. Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this post. When I attempt to copy a file from my computer to my server I get a "permission denied" error message. I have had this issue randomly occur in the past and I believe that I used "Docker Safe New Perms" to fix it. This time it has not worked however. The issue started around the time of a data disk failure. Of course the failed disk was being emulated at the time so I wondered if that might be the issue. I replaced the disk and had posted some diagnostic information at that time. I then ran "Docker Safe New Perms" which is I have since upgraded Unraid to 6.11.1 to see if that would help. Does any one have any suggestions as to the what might be causing the issue and or how I might solve it? Thank you Richard theindex-diagnostics-20221015-2057.zip
  6. I replaced a the data disk (and a parity disk). Managed to rebuild everything and it seems to be working well so I guess that it must have been the disk. @JorgeB thank you kindly for your input. Perhaps a loose lead was present but in changing the drive over I may have fixed it. I will keep this in the back of my mind in the future. Thank you all for your input.
  7. So the Disk stopped rebuilding in the "main tab there are 1024 errors and I got these error messages: -Array has 1 disk with errors -Disk 1 in error state It seems like it is the disk and I guess that I don't understand what a SMART report is as I thought that it was suppose to tell me when my disk had errors - Oh well. I'll just replace the disk an see what happens! Thanks for your time itimpi theindex-diagnostics-20221010-1614.zip
  8. Thank you for the Manual link - I have followed it after running an extended SMART self-test that came up with nothing. My drive is currently rebuilding *fingers crossed*
  9. Thank you itimpi, I have rebooted unraid and downloaded the diagnostics. I did get a message that the array turned good and there are 0 disks with read errors. Disk 1 is still "Disabled" though. theindex-diagnostics-20221008-1526.zip
  10. Hi, I have 2 X 8 tb disks as parity drives. disk 1 3tb DISABLED disk 2 8tb Active. I have bought a new disk and intend to replace disk 1 - the main tab states 2048 error and the drive is the oldest - I am assuming that is has had its day. That being said, having read through the unraid forum, there seems to be a possibility that it is not quite that simple!? I was hoping that someone might take a quick look at my unraid logs? Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Richard theindex-diagnostics-20221008-1312.zip
  11. I enabled privileged mode and it verks!
  12. How do I stop / get past the error message: "Execution error Server error" When starting the container? I must have configured something wrong but I have never seen that message before. I cannot even see any entries in the log file.
  13. Thanks! How do I edit the /boot/config/go file? Is it using the terminal in the Unraid GUI? (I hope not since any text there is covered by a multicoloured blur for some reason in Unraid 6.9.2).
  14. Hey guys. Thank you for your thoughts. First of all I found a solution. When navigating to the map network drive prompt (this pc>map network drive) I had been using the "Browse..." button to try to find my share. That is when I was getting the error message. Typing in the IP address of the server then /path allowed me to connect! I'm not a Windows user really, I just have use it for a piece of exam related software (thank you covid). I set up access my shares on the mac by browsing the GUI and on Ubuntu by typing the IP and path. It never occurred to me that windows would have such a problem with the browse function until I watched a Spaceinvader One video (what a legend). He didn't use the "Browse..." button but typed out the path and recommended using an IP address rather than the server's name. FYI, I am using Windows 10 Pro 20H2 (not a VM). I had a lot of issues getting my exam software to run smoothly and had to update to get it working. I have a few windows VM's scattered across my PC's and ran into the same problem, with the same solution. Once again, Big thanks. Richard
