  1. Hoping someone can help me. I'm trying to install High Sierra. I followed the guide exactly, and it downloaded the correct dmg for highsierra, but when I go to install the OS on the drive, after formatting the drive and renaming it "highsierra", it installs big sur instead. Given that I have a gtx 1080ti, I have no use for big sur. If anyone can help me figure out why this is happening, I would appreciate it. Every indication tells me that I should be installing highsierra (according to whats shown in the macinabox docker container settings, and the VM template), but it always installs bigsur for some reason. Thanks
  2. Okay, thank you for showing me this (UnRaid has become a hobby for me recently, and I'm trying to learn about networking). Do you think this is the reason my containers freaked out?
  3. Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my home network router. Following a recommendation from spaceinvader one, I switched my local ip address to one that was not common (e.g. 10.20.30.0/24). Putting in a new router, I was not able to choose the same local IP address (10.20.30.0/24) unfortunately. The interface considers it an invalid IP address. I settled on 111.222.3.0/24. The settings in unraid, more or less, seemed to have automatically adjusted to this new choice in local IP. However, there are some lingering issues. My nextcloud server basically exploded on me, and I'm trying to figure that out. I might decide to end up deleting everything (except the data itself) and starting up fresh. The most annoying thing though, is that since changing my router/local ip, it seems like my docker containers can get confused and not correctly identify when I am on my local network. Plex does not automatically direct play, and cites the reasoning for it being that my bitrate is not high enough to support direct play. It doesn't seem to know I'm streaming while on my local network, even though if I look on the network graph within plex all the traffic/data is correctly categories as local. Once I manually switch the quality to original, it direct plays as normal. If anyone has any advice, on how to deal with a change in local IP, without blowing up all your settings/containers, please let me know
  4. Can you enable quicksync hardware encoding and simultaneously use the CPU onboard graphics to run a mac VM?
  5. Hi everyone, I recently started up with Unraid and just wanted to start by saying how amazing this community is, I wouldn’t have had the balls the take this project on without it. I also should say that my post here isn’t exactly a support question, it’s more of a teaching one (I would like to learn more), since my educational background isn’t computer science based and this is more of a hobby that I recently became interested in. My Unraid server is already doing much more than my windows based solution, and doing it more efficiently, and I’m having a lot of fun tinkering with Unraid and trying to optimize it. I have two M.2 SSD drives, one (500 GB) which is unassigned and still holds my bare metal windows 10 install, and a second one (2 TB) which I recently purchased to be used with my Unraid server. They are installed in two separate slots on my motherboard. The new 2 TB drive is the: Sabrent Rocket Q 2TB NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance Solid State Drive R/W 3200/2900MB/s (SB-RKTQ-2TB) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0829DZH2W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EsKwFbB0SBYYG The reason why I chose this drive was because it’s cost was on par with internal SATA SSD’s with comparable storage capacity. But perhaps choosing a seemingly cheap product was not the best idea? Now here come my questions: When I upload a single or a few number of files at once through the network, using the finder interface (Mac laptop), there appears to be no issue. However, when I try to move a bunch of files (from my laptop to my Unraid server), the transfer will start off such that it appears my network speed is maxed out, but then it will quickly taper down and eventually transfer speeds go to 0. Individually, these files are not necessarily large, they can be relatively small. If I compress (zip) the folder before transferring the many files within that folder, the fastest transfer speeds are maintained throughout the transfer. I initially noticed this when I tried to move my Plex metadata and watch history over from an external hard drive to my Unraid cache drive, but it has come back to bite me as I’m attempting to transfer my photos/videos off my Mac (about 500 GB worth of data) and it looks like I would need to compress them all first before transferring them to Unraid. Can you confirm that this is normal behavior with SSD drives and explain why this happens? Is there a better solution to compressing the files before initiating a transfer of a large number of files. If this is not normal behavior, perhaps I need to adjust some settings on my motherboard or my SSD drive is faulty? Also, when data transfers are sustained for about 5 to 10 minutes or so, I will get warning messages from Unraid that my SSD drive is hot, at ~50 C. From google searching, it appear that these are reasonable temps for an M.2 SSD under load, so I’m not sure why Unraid is warning me of this? Is it worth attaching some sort of heatsink to my SSD? I have a large case with a lot of airflow, though the SSD doesn’t have any direct active cooling attached to it. My motherboard is the ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-H GAMING. Thank you
  6. OMG I had like 30 terminal windows opened up (hidden) behind my browser on my Mac (computer 10.20.30.210)... I feel so dumb now. Thank you so much for the help!!! I am unwilling to say how long I spent troubleshooting this problem, but lets just say it was a long time...
  7. Hi everyone and thanks for your help in advance. I am a new user and everything seemed to be going well until I tried to get an nzbget container running. All my other containers work fine, and everything seems fine overall, except for nzbget. I've been trying to get an nzbget container working and somehow ended up messing something up? I am getting spammed with the following warning messages in my logs. When I try to open the terminal for my nzbget docker container, I get disconnected within a few seconds. I removed the nzbget container, deleted the associated folders/files in appdata, restarted my Unraid server, yet I get spammed with the following messages in my logs every 5 seconds or so which seems to be related to nzbget (which I thought I removed every trace of by deleting its folder in appdata?). Any idea how to fix this problem? Please explain it simply, because I'm very new to this.
