There is a lot of hype around ZFS and I recently watched SpaceInvaders video on the rc5 and how to make ZFS pools... but I'm confused as to what ZFS is and why I should be excited. I know it is another file system... but is it worth changing my array from XFS... and if so.. can you convert an existing array to ZFS?

Oh I need to turn off VMs ... ok... There are three dns server options.. when I set to automatic the 1st is my local IP. x.x.x.1 ... do I leave that and put the public in dns 2 and 3?

I can not seem to find a way to set the DNS server for Unraid? How do I do this?

Ok... so I would need an external service to make a DNS entry to a non-static IP? These things you are talking about (and remember I am a plug and play user and od not actually understand sys-admin stuff... blame unraid devs for making it so easy) .. but the things you are talking about, these vpn tunnels.. are they not for accessing my local network from outside? I'm just trying to get access to the external interface for these streaming apps.. so say in AudioBookShelf I type into the server section "myserveriscool.wow.me" or something and it will connect. I do want to setup NextCloud at some stage... but for now.. all I want is to be able to access the streaming apps I have installed. I use a service called "ExpressVPN" and I route all my internet traffic through there at the moment, apart form Plex.

I do not understand this fix.... I log into the server and there is no ./.config and not ./.config/.tmux.conf this works now... but when I reboot the file has gone? Also.. dose anyone know where the MC config is located and how I can edit that?

I started using Unraid a few years ago simply for Plex. (Yes I know Jellyfin is aparently awesome, but I have plex working for a long time, and can not be bothered changing it!).... but as the time has gone by I am interested in some other application for unraid... mainly media hosting still... but there is an issue. For example.. I want to use AudioBookShelf (kind of like plex for audiobooks and podcasts)... but unlike plex it dose not automate the discovery of your server... when you install the app on your phone you need to enter a url / ip to your home server to connect and start streaming. How would I go about that with unraid? : Tl;DR : I'm want to access my server from outside of my house for streaming apps like AudioBookShelf, AirSonic or CalibreWEB... but they all need someway for the roaming apps to connect to the sevrer.. so like a working url or something... How do you go about that in unraid? Thanks!

So I have been using MC with tMux for years, but now the update has broken this. When trying to run MC in tMux you get this error... There are a number of other "pure" cli file managers I can try... but I do not know how to install a small app into the system... Here is a list of cool file managers I can try that will not throw that error as they do not use anything more than the standard console https://www.tecmint.com/linux-terminal-file-managers/ How would I install one of these?

How can I make other dockers use this docker's vpn... not privoxy, that dose not seem to work with the docker I am trying... but there was another way with a command line like.. --net=container:binhex-qbittorrentvpn This dose not seem to work on the docker I am trying... binhex-hexchat Any ideas?

Got everything working.... again, witht ther latest update. Thanks for all the help. Screwing about in the dockers of the server for the first time in ages made me try a few new ones... I was wondering, if anyone has a up-to-date tutorial on how to use this docker as the internet for other dockers so I can share the VPN? I have it set up with some others from years ago, but I can not remember exactly what I did.

mc not running in tmux was not an issue until I updated to the new version of unraid and the new nerdTools. Before then I just ran MC with no issues. So I would open a tmux new - s mc and just have it always on... and jump into the tmux session... so any way I left MC would stick.

Anyone know how to make midnight commander remember settings? I mainly use tmux so I can run MC lol (and do some longer form copy operations).... but if there is a way to make MC remember the UI colour settings and last path of each pannle, I would love ot know! oh.. right... Strange the plugin was showing in my unraid as not compatible.. so I just uninstalled it. i could have sworn I went to the appstore and searched for it and the install also said it was depreciated.... strange. I did that again and it installed fine.. so no idea who I was screwing up.. but it seems it was all on me. : EDIT : Um.. still having issues.... I installed the nerdtools again via the app store.. clicked the plugin, searched tmux and clicked the "on" thing to enable it... now when I load a session and type "mc" I get this error. Unknown terminal: tmux-256color Check the TERM environment variable. Also make sure that the terminal is defined in the terminfo database. Alternatively, set the TERMCAP environment variable to the desired termcap entry.

Um... I have applied the fix and the qBitTorrent thing is working.. but I seem to have run into a issue. Basically when I removed the "tag" to the old version and hit apply the little unraid after the server applied the patch and stuiff the little unraid logo wobble thing denoting rebuilding of the linked containers never went away. After ages I decided to stop and docker engine and restart it... but now while qbittorrent is working fine.. the dockers that are sharing it's vpn are not... well two of them anyway. I run binhex.QbitTorrentVPN binhex-radarr binhex-sonarr linuxserver-nzbget The strange thing is that sonarr is working .. but the other two will not connect to the web interface? EDIT : I have attached SuperVisord.log (from qbittotrrent with BETA == true) (For now I have again reverted to tag:4.5.0-1-01 and everything is working, and still suing edited openvpn file) unraid.mp4 supervisord.log

came to post my logs and read the posts after my last one.. seems I to had the openvpn config file problem... I edited the file and removed the "keysize" line and now it is working.. Thanks for the help and the awesome dockers for unraid!

Hi... I read in this thread that nerdTools is built into the new version... but it dose not seem to have tmux? Is there any path information I need to use to run commands or something? I have unintalled the old nerdtools plugin after updating the os ... but now can not seem to run tmux after ssh into the server edit : Also I can not seem to get MC to save options like colours and last opened directories anymore?

Did something break on the latest update? Been using this for years... but now after an update I can not connect to the web interface.... even though the docker is showing as running. Is there some change in a recent update that would effect this? I also use this as the vpn for a number of other dockers and they will connect to the webUI fine... it is just the bit torrent client that is not working connecting to the webUI... but they do not seem to be acessing the internet. Like Radnarr can not search, even though I can see the webUI. I think it has something to do with the VPN... as if I turn it off, the webUI loads fine.... I'm using expressVPN's OpenVPN files. I checked the user/pass and redownloaded the openVPN file but no luck? my_expressvpn_???_-_???_udp.ovpn is the file they gave me (??? is regional infomation like England, Sheffield or w/e. There is also a "credentials.conf" with my user/pass in it. edit : I tried installing DelugeVPN by binhex and same problem. It works fine if I turn the VPN off, but if I turn it on it will not connect to the webUI and it seems like I can not even pink google.com from the console of the docker. For now, I have rolled back to "tag:4.5.0-1-01" and it is working as before.. so it is something to do with the new update from about 11 hours ago... if anyone knows what to do then please let me know!

Thought I would try JellyFin again, I used it years ago on my unraid... I had it uninstalled, but now installed the docker ... but when I go to the server it loads a login screen, instead of the setup wizard.. I think somehow it is remembering my old install details from years ago... but I can not work out how to reset it. I do not remember any of my old log in details...

I just moved house and setup the new network.... I've run into a snag.. I can not seem to connect the Unraid Server. It is plugged in via a Ethernet Port directly into the router and it seems to be working.. as in the device shows in my rounter software on the phone and displays the correct name. Also I can ping the rounter fine from my win10 laptop from command line (ping styaticIP). This is working... but there is no Admin window at http://staticIP/login Any ideas? Thanks : More Info : The entire server is headless, I have not ever had a monitor on it. So I am not sure how to fix this.

Having a strange issue where when I manually run MOVER it finishes but still shows 100s of GB on the SSD. I am not sure how to troubleshoot this as I'm not very tech savvy. I "think" maybe one of my dockers is downloading stuff to the docker image and not my shares, but I do not know how to check for this. Any idea? Thanks. How do I get the "mover" logs?

Is there any apps around in plugins or community apps that analyse your disks so you can see what files are taking up what space? You Something like DiskUsage for Android or something? I'm having issues with my Mover Not working... and I am pretty sure one or more of the dockers is acidently saving data into the docker itself and not the share that gets moved to the array... so I thought if I could find a disk usage analyser I could track down where the data is being eaten in my cache. Thanks!
