Bad MOBO Controller???
Hi Jorge I replaced the MOBO with a new one that I tested. Everything is fine on the MOBO. Booted up, started the data rebuild and same thing happened that started this. Started rebuild at around 16.3 mbs and dropped to KBs. Attaching the syslog and diagnostics. I am going to rollback the OS as this all started after I undated the OS. Bad MOBO Controller???
Jorge I tried to reboot in order to do ask you asked. Just booted straight to BIOS. Wireless nor wired keyboard would work. Tried to reset CMOS, same thing. I think not only the MOBO sata controller, but MOBO itself has died. I was going to try and roll back from 7.1.3 to 7.0.1 but can't even get that far now that I can't get out of BIOS. Going to try a new MOBO when it arrives and see what happens. If the array won't start, I'll try what you suggest again. Maybe even the rollback. I've never had a controller or mobo go bad but from what I can gather, this has all the symptoms. Thanks Just downgraded, back to where when I click start for the array, it just thinks about it and never comes online just like in my first instance. I'm starting to wonder if my PSU is going bad and it's a power issue.

Bad MOBO Controller???
Did a hard reboot to get back in to download diagnostics. I've attached. After downloading diagnostics, I tried to start array again. Guess What??? Same issue, just stuck in a startup mode. tower-diagnostics-20250611-2203.zip

Bad MOBO Controller???
All was fine and suddenly, this afternoon, my server showed a dead drive. As this is a drive I had issues with previously in another box, but seemed to be okay now, I figured it was the drive. Stopped array, powered down, popped in replacement, everything went well. Asked me to format, no problem there, Mounted drive, started array, all seemed fine and suddenly I was getting rebuild times of around 2.6 mbs and dropped down to 130 kbs or so. Said it would take 765 days to rebuild my 20TB drive. Yikes. Stopped all and decided to pop in a new cable. This drive is CONNECTED to MOBO SATA CONTROLLER PORT. Turned everything back on and now it takes forever to get the array to start if it will start at all. Just get the wavy orange lines. I decided to power off via the PSU. Rechecked the cables and connections. All good. Restarted, got everything up, started a preclear that looked good so I stopped it to see what would happen. Back to the array starting just as in the screen capture. I can't get diagnostics to download while it's doing this but I've attached the diagnostics I ran right before I had the array starting freeze. I've a BAAAAAAD feeling my mobo sata controller is going bad on a channel. Looking for input from the crowd. Expansion for Plex
You're not going to believe this......I did nothing other than using MC to go in and check I could access.....suddenly, it found "TV Shows" and is adding it! No clue how or why it worked but it is.......for the moment. We'll see if it continues and I can remotely access

Expansion for Plex
OK, I'll try to answer all I SMB the shares using unassigned devices Not sure what you are asking me to do here: Please confimr in the plex docker, console into it and cd to the template path ? cd /data ls I have gone into the shared directory via MC from the old server. I can get into the TV Show folder and the individual shows, season folders, and I can see the individual files I just may say the heck with it and just go with plex having 2 servers and tell my family to just change sources to get to the TV Show folders Thanks again

Expansion for Plex
Hi bmartino1 Sorry to bother again. I've transferred all my files/folders to new server. Decided to go with the amplified instructions you outlined to have plex look into both rather than 2 plex docker setups. Ran into issues. set up both servers and have them both mounted to each other set up the docker path, pretty easy, Docker could see where I wanted to go. It found this: /mnt/remotes/TOWER3_Media3/TV SHOWS/...also ensured it was set to read/write slave so far no issues I set up container path under name /TV Shows. I assume path name doesn't change just because host path is /mnt/remotes/......? Now comes the fun....I went into plex and tried to point it to the remote.....nothing...says library empty. I manually tried numerous iterations and would show library empty. I ensured I changed the name of the old TV Shows folder on the old server to avoid conflicts....still.....nothing First I tried browsing for folder by going to mnt on the right side of the window after hitting browse....that was a blank Next tried this /Media3/TV Shows by adding manually....nope Tried this /remotes/Media3/TV Shows....nope Tried /mnt/remotes/Media3/TV Shows....nope I'm now at a loss. I know it must be a simple thing but this is throwing me off. Took me 25 days to transfer the files and now I hit this wall.....I ensured the old server could see into the new server by going into MC and pulling up the new server....folder/files there.... Not sure what I'm missing Thanks again if you have a suggestion

docker service fails to start after upgrading to UNRAID 7.1.2
Docker service was working fine, never an issue. I upgraded to 7.1.2 after the reboot, it said "docker services failed to start." I've never had this happen on an upgrade!!! I downgraded back to 7.1.0 and now getting the same. Anyone else have this issue and fixed it?? Forgot to add, followed the usual delete image, rebuild to bring it all back. Just thought it would be odd that upgrading to 7.1.2 would screw with the docker image. Thanks tower-diagnostics-20250523-2022.zip

Expansion for Plex
Thanks bmartino1 Oh yes, duplicating to new server is fun!!! NOT. I've run 43+ hours with moving the TV Shows. 88TB to move. Only have 9TB moved so far. I knew that was going to be the long pole in the tent anyway, so not a big deal. Just mounted the two boxes to each other and started machine to machine transfer.

Expansion for Plex
bmartino1 Finally working to get this set up. Had some hardware issues to fix first. I'm going with your first suggestion to put plex docker on each machine. I'm transferring my TV Shows to the new server as we speak. When that is finished, if I'm reading it correctly from what you stated, I just need to go to my first server and point the tv shows to the 2nd server folder via SMB remote? Or am I simplifying this too much. If you can point me to a step by step or video guide, I'd much appreciate it. Thank you

2 questions after UNRAID 7.1.0 upgrade
Took some time but that did the trick. Thanks Mow! Now I hope the speed issue goes away. Not holding my breath though!

2 questions after UNRAID 7.1.0 upgrade
MowMdwon..Thanks for the reply I've done that setting a couple of times using the logic you confirmed for me. Thanks for that. However, still getting the same exact warning. So, are you saying not to worry about the warning since it the fix common problems nomenclature hasn't updated?

2 questions after UNRAID 7.1.0 upgrade
I have 2 questions. After I did the upgrade a couple things changed. 1. everything seems slower. I first noticed when I tried to connect to my plex from another computer not on my network, away from home. Seemed slower. Downgraded to 6.15 and seemed faster. 2. See the attached picture. I had this message when I went into fix common errors to see what was slowing me down. There is no more cache only setting so that is throwing me off. I just installed appdata backup plugin, after seeing this. So how do I get rid of this? I want my selected appdata and flash to backup on my cache since that is external and saved me last week from a big issue. I use NVME cache for my file transfers. Like to see if I can figure this out before upgrading to 7.2 Actually thinking of rolling back to 6.15. Thanks folks tower-diagnostics-20250511-0941.zip

Unraid USB boot drive broke into 3 pieces
All good advice Frank. Thank you again. I'm like you, it has been sooooo long since I had to start from scratch, I was indeed playing "whack-a-mole!"

Unraid USB boot drive broke into 3 pieces
Frank Guess what? Found that one little setting. Export setting in the shares. I think I switched to No at one point to see if switching back and forth on it would get it going. I think the credentialing and then turn export back on is finally what did the trick. I tested the theory on another PC and yup, wouldn't connect, but as soon as I did the credentials, no issue! Thanks again Frank!

Unraid USB boot drive broke into 3 pieces
Hi Frank, been a few since we've been problem solving I went in as you said above, created a credential that was my user and password on the server. Pic 1 is what I was seeing before I tried to map. You'll notice Tower shows on Network but not on the mapped drives Pic 2 is what I see if I click on the carat beside Tower, it goes away. Pic 3 is how I start with using different cred's. It ask for my cred's to Tower...no problem entering those...then ask for Tower password...no issue entering BUT Pic 4 is what I get after entering cred's. Diagnostics states Windows can't find. When I run diagnostics, it comes back with Pic 5 Perplexing that it sees it but can't see my share. I suspect it's one little setting I'm missing. I've gone back into UNRaid and all looks fine but...... I've done all the tweaks in Windows including my network and sharing, but I can get this unstuck. I'm getting closer with the credentials, I think, but..... Well, the one win is my Plex data was all saved and applied back to the files! Strangely, I can go on the web and access my Plex server but just not on my network! Thanks for pitching in to help

Unraid USB boot drive broke into 3 pieces
Thanks Gragorg. I ended up just buying it again. Thankfully I have it all up and running. But Problems... I see all my docker appdata on my cache drive but have no clue how to get them showing up again back in docker. Now I can't map my server on win 11 but my backup is there. It detects it but won't map to the folder Life goes on......

Unraid USB boot drive broke into 3 pieces
Greetings all. Had a switch fall off wall and took out my usb stick from back of the unraid server. It's now in 3 pieces. Took off the casing and tried to boot with it. Nope Plugged it into my windows computer to see if I could snag the files.....Nope OK, I know I'll need a new USB stick and need to use the creator tool but have a couple of questions I know I had latest version on but how do I get my new USB license without paying again? Never lost a usb where I needed this. Now that I have that, how do I get the old configuration so I don't lose everything??? I don't have Unraid Connect. I guess I will now. The good news is 2 days ago, I took a screen shot of my array config. At least I have that going for me. Thanks in advance

New Drive data-rebuild slow and not acting as expected
Hi Jorge What I ended up doing was letting the new disk preclear in a new assigned slot to ensure the power/data cabling all worked. Then I had to remove the precleared drive but first I took it out of the drive history. Then I removed it. restarted, went to new config. and did the ALL config. After that, put all the drives back into the original assigned slots, including the drive that got knocked out, Restarted the Array and did parity check/rebuild. 2 hours later, parity checked ok. And all is good again. I think I ran through every check and way to save data that exist!

New Drive data-rebuild slow and not acting as expected
Hi Jorge....been awhile. I changed up the SATAs, I'll need to recheck the power connection again. I'm suspecting, now that you mentioned, the surge before the power outage that killed the disk, might have done in a power cable then. Thanks. I'll check that too. I'm wass planning on putting in the original disk since I keep getting the RED X invalid on that slot, to see if I could put it in again, fire it up, stop the array, remove the disk, reboot, power down, put in the disk that I'm preclearing now. I figured I might as well use the time to test the new disk with a preclear before wasting more time. Worst case, I rebuild as a new drive with lost data and pull over the data from my backup to rebuild. Rather not go that route, but it's an option if the above don't work. Hope I have some different power cables.....

New Drive data-rebuild slow and not acting as expected
Nope! Different drive, changed cables. Ensured all cables seated fully. Same thing. What is throwing me is I turned off all my dockers and cache was still writing. Even as the rebuild was slowly going down to 2.3mb/sec. Other thing throwing me is I ran a check and it said, like the first one, "invalid disk"..... Going to try something different. Going to assigned drive to a different slot and let it clear then format again. Then hope it works. If not, my "Hail Mary" might be to try new config and keep all the drives the same except the new one and see what happens. I've honestly never had this happen before tower-diagnostics-20250502-2001.zip

Going to see if a different drive works

New Drive data-rebuild slow and not acting as expected
I had to replace a failed drive that had the "dreaded" Red X. OK, no problem. Followed the normal procedure to replace with a new drive of the same size. That's where the fun started. Formatted the drive, no problem....assigned it, no problem. Then I started having the array stuck on getting started. Did reboot to bring it back. disabled the new drive. Then brought it back, finally got array running and data rebuild started. Data rebuild is running really, really slow. I've attached screenshot. It's a 20 TB drive so I know it will take forever, but the data transfers are extremely slow and I'm not seeing any read/writes going on or errors. I looked at the diagnostics and I'm seeing the new drive marked invalid? HUH?? Any ideas??? Thanks in advance tower-diagnostics-20250502-1415.zip

Thank you. That is slightly different than what I was thinking but appears to be more reliable setup. Thanks again

Expansion for Plex
Think I might know how to do this but wanted to see if anyone else has done this and how you did it. I have a primary unraid media server that is about maxed out. I have plenty of smaller drives, mobo, rackmount 4u case, etc laying around to build another unraid media server. Soooo... I want to build 2nd server, transfer about 90TB to it in order to free up space on primary. THEN I want to have the 2nd server feed into my primary plex account. I'm trying to do this so family that remotes in won't need to do anything and be seamless to them. Thanks in advance
