If you are talking about CAT cable, 2.5G is the better choice right now, cheap and low power consumption, ready for the next gen Wifi 7 AP and routers. But 10G fiber NIC right now is dirt cheap right now, if you don't mind the used one, and the switch for it is also cheap, only problem is no adapter for laptop, you are running a desktop PC, it's awesome. So why not both😁, I am using a 4(2.5G)+2(10G fiber) switch, mainly using the 2.5G right now, and plan to upgrade my NAS when I have desktop PC.

For me as a PT user, I usually setup my media as : HDD 1: Movie and TV HDD 2: Anime and Cartoons each HDD is 8 TB, use hardlink to link the original download files, save a lot of space and can keep seeding

最近出差才发现远程管理Unraid上的文件不太方便，以前我经常需要让unraid自动下载压缩文件，然后下载到我的电脑上面，解压，再修改其中几个，压缩后上传到Unraid。 现在出差，网络条件不允许我这样做了，我想在Unraid上面直接解压，下载我需要的文件，修改并上传，然后在Unraid上面压缩。 请问有没有什么插件或者docker应用，能方便的管理压缩文件（zip, 7z和rar)，带UI管理的那种？

Cause my new job position requires me to work in another country, I am thinking of building a mini NAS for some times. My setup would be: CPU and MB: onboard low-power CPUs like N100 RAM: 16 GB DDR5 Drive: 5*2TB SATA SSD in one ZFS pool（raidz1） Case: 3D printed Qnas mini Since it's all SSD setup, I don't think I need a cache pool, but I don't know a ZFS pool is a good idea for this NAS or not, since it won't have ECC RAM and the CPU is kinda of weak.

More than enough, but I think you mean transcoding rather than decoding? A2000 is almost an overkill if you only need transcoding 4K H264/H264 for a family setup, a 1650 can handle these easily.

Upgraded and keep syslog server running till now, 10 days without any issues, I will go for another 10 days, cuz last time, it happens in 15th or 16th day. BTW: 6.12.4 fix my rlt8125 nic speed problem, nice.

Not sure where I put this question, so if it should be moved elsewhere, apology in advance My setup: i3 10100T+B460 mortar+ 16GB ram+LSI SAS 2308 card (in HBA mode). Case backboard support SAS（in its manual at lest), connect to my LSI card with SFF-8643 cable. with 6 SATA drives in the same array(No ZFS, just basic setup) and 1 nvme drive as cache My friends sent me one spare SAS drive, and I wonder if I can just add it to my array like any other SATA drives?

I enable this and waiting for it happens again. But today I saw 6.12.4 is out, should I still keep on waiting in 6.12.3 or upgrade to 6.12.4

This problem happens 3 times to my unraid server in 6.12.3, for 1 or 2 weeks, my unraid just lost all the connecting, not able to access WEB GUI, all dockers and VM lost connecting, and after 1 or 2 days, everything is back to normal, Unraid runs like nothing happened. 185409-diagnostics-20230831-2243.zip I check the log and find nothing, change the Docker custom network type to IPVLAN, still happens.

After I upgrade from 6.11.5 to 6.12.3, about 3 days, the Webgui was not responding/reachable, I remote login to my router and checked the ddns was running fine, I am out of town right now so not able to test the local connection either. after 1 week, the server is back online like nothing happened, I can connect to it remotely, and there is no error in the log.

I had this bug a few times before: Once was in 6.11.2, the cause is the http proxy setting mess up, clean the proxy setting fix this. The recent one is when I switch to 10GB SFP+ connecting, maybe the NIC or the cable issue, I am still fixing it, but I do know this happen when network connecting is bad. So I suggest you check your network hardware setup and network settings, to root out any setting issue, you best bet is make a new USB boot drive to see if the problem is still there, because use safe mode can still have this bug( bad proxy or network settings are still present in safe mode)

I know the NIC is probably OK, the swich is brand new. So maybe the cable or SFP+ module? I ordered a different brand this time, will update after I get it.

after a reboot and reinstall the card and SFP cable, the NAS to PC speed still stuck around 100mb/s, and PC to NAS speed stuck at 10mb to 30mb/s. I am a bit lost, any idea where I should start to look for the problem?

Recently I bought a new switch has 2 10G SFP+ ports and 4 2.5G ports, connect my laptop and Unraid NAS both with 2.5G ports, the speed in normal, can transfer files at 280mb/s. Today I upgrade my NAS with a X520 DA2 card, connect to one of SPF+ port the switch, find out the speed is very slow, downloading files from NAS to my laptop around 40 to 80mb/s, and I can't even upload file from my laptop to the NAS, it just stuck. The NIC interface shows nothing wrong with the card: Running iperf shows extreme low speed: PC to NAS NAS to PC: Since this the 1st time I try 10Gb network and SFP+ card and cables, I wonder somewhere I must mess up big time.

OK got it, so no need to change MTU on 2.5G or 10G NIC.

Hi I recently upgrade my main switch to a 4 port 2.5G + 2 port 10G SPF+ mode, I plan to install 10G nic on my unraid and desktop PC, and use 2.5G usb nic on my laptop. because I was on 1G network before, I never touch the MTU, always leave it as 1500, but I hear 2.5G and 10G nic may need setup jumbo frame(MTU 9000）on them, and it's best for every client in the network has the same MTU. Should I enable the jumbo frame on my PC, NAS and laptop in this case?
