  1. Well, I upgraded the old fashioned way and it is working fine. Not sure what the original problem was using methods 1 and 2, but working great now.
  2. I would be connecting up a monitor to your server and having a look. (Don't plug in a PS-2 style keyboard (or mouse) into a powered up Computer, though!!!) You did make a backup of your Flash Drive first... I did make a backup. Was running 5.0.6. My monitor is not getting a signal when I hook it up, which I thought was kinda weird. I guess I will revert back to v5 and see what happens. One Thing, what is the size of your Flash Drive? If it is a small one (1GB or less), it might have ended up 'Full'. You might also want to try to boot up with that updated Flash and the monitor connected, so you can see what is happening. Reason for Edit: Corrected formatting! This is a 2gb flash drive so I think I am ok there. I have now tried method 1 and 2 to upgrade. Neither have worked. I hooked up the monitor to watch during boot and got this message: ERROR: No configuration file found No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! Not sure what configuration file it is talking about.

  4. Does the reboot after upgrade take a long time? I have been waiting about 10 minutes and can not pull up my server yet. I upgraded using method 1.
  5. It depends on your ISP provider dropping connection/timeout with the download server. Its been a problem for some folks lately - PM me is you like to be e-mailed the updated 5.0.4 package - also look at member nars signature - he has a mirror of the downloads avail - here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=30503.30 Thanks was able to download from Nars sig!
  6. I've downloaded a couple of times now and it states that the file is invalid or corrupt when I try to unzip it. I tried with the native windows unzip and winrar with same results. Anyone else have this issue?
  7. On mine, I hadn't changed anything except upgrade to version 5. It definitely wasn't a cache only share. I'll have to mess around with it some more when I get time and if I figure anything out I will post it here.
  8. That's interesting that you are having the same problem. I never did figure it out. I just changed the settings so that my movie share no longer uses the cache drive. I noticed that it only would not move larger movies (ie blu ray), the smaller files it did move over. I don't think it has anything to do with how my share is configured, but I'd be open to try anything out.
  9. I just upgraded to 5.0 official release. Everything had been working fine. I just happen to notice that my movies are not moving from the cache drive to the array. I had some tv shows on the cache drive and they moved fine, but the movie I had on there did not move at all. The log doesn't seem to help me very much but here it is: Sep 1 10:49:32 Tower logger: mover started Sep 1 10:49:32 Tower logger: moving Movies/ Sep 1 10:49:32 Tower logger: skipping appdata/ Sep 1 10:49:32 Tower logger: mover finished Any Ideas?
  10. Thanks, I might try giving that a shot and see what happens.
  11. thanks for the reply. I am running the same as v4.7. I am using unmenu, I basically just reinstalled it via unmenu and set it up from scratch.
  12. With 4.7, sickbeard was working perfectly. However since I upgraded to 5, sickbeard is not able to check for a newer version, I get the message " Unable to contact github, can't check for update". Also, it no longer updates xbmc when I complete a download. On the notification page, I can test sucessfully, but when I try to "update xbmc", I get the message "unable to contact xbmc host". Has anyone else had these problems?
  13. Thanks all. Got a new hard drive coming and also changed the mobo settings. Running much better now
  14. Unless you have a really odd drive, there were no IDE 4TB drives ever produced. (It must be an SATA drive) For it to show as /dev/hda would indicate your disk controller is configured in IDE emulation mode. You should configure it correctly in AHCI mode, otherwise, it accessing it will be VERY SLOW. It should show as /dev/sdX, not /dev/hdX Joe L. That is interesting. Yes it is a sata drive. I am using the ports on the motherboard currently. I take it this is something I should consider looking at in the bios before returning this drive? My other drives are sdX, except for my SSD cache drive, it is listed hdX......
  15. Hi all, Just got a new 4tb hard drive. Running latest v5 rc. When I go to preclear, I get this message "Sorry: Device /dev/hda is not responding to an fdisk -l /dev/hda command. You might try power-cycling it to see if it will start responding" I tried powering down the tower and rebooting with no luck. I was able to preclear an identical drive just a couple of days ago. Is this one DOA? has anyone else had this problem?
  16. I am leaning towards marking the current release candidate as final and deal with the slow write issues in 5.1. I read a post earlier that pondered if we could get a list of MBs that worked well or didn't with 5.0. This would be nice as it could give some an idea if they want to make the jump or wait for 5.1.
  17. The government is an accomplice in this murder as far as I am concerned. They are the ones that disarmed the only law abiding people that could have defended these children. If trained staff could have a been able to defend themselves this could have been stopped quite earlier than just waiting for the shooter to commit suicide.
  18. I purchased a dual Pro license and had I know this is the level of commitment, I would have gone elsewhere. I sank money into the licensing and large amounts into the hardware, not overlooking the time spent trying to help and support originally. So yeah I would like a v5 final to get a return on my investment. From there I will choose my path. And I think anyone thinking of coming onboard should have all the facts and make there decision, I have plenty of friends I made aware of and have purchased unRaid licenses, who too feel like WTF. Not everyone posts but that does not mean that many are unhappy. And many are in the same boat where requesting their money back for the licensing is only a small drop in the bucket for what we have invested into bring up an unRAID server. Not everyone use this product for just media archiving, so its very important to feel the product is stable and will protect your data and function properly. I have no gripes with the unRAID community, many talented individuals which offer great assistance and for which they do on their own time with no compensation. Exactly, I if I would have known in advance the level of commitment to this software, I would not have even considered this product. I did however buy two pro licenses. Now, whenever friends ask me about the software, I don't even recommend it. People considering this software should know that the future of this product is obviously all but certain.
  19. I have been using unraid for 2 years and I am also frustrated by the lack of communication from Limetech. I have come to the conclusion though that it is completely pointless complaining as Tom never responds to it. Once v5 final has been released I plan on not returning to these forums unless I really have to. Same here, if I don't switch to another product first. Tom is like a friend that always says he is going to hang out with you but never shows up. I no longer recommend unraid to any of my friends.
  20. I've been looking at flexraid and it seems to be a viable option for me. One question though, Would I basically have to build a flexraid system and transfer all of my unraid data to it, or would it be as easy as putting the unraid physical hard drives into the flexraid unit? I am figuring it would be the former, but hoping for the latter
  21. Do Flex or Snapraid have support for running sabnzbd or sickbeard? I guess I could always run these on a separate pc, but I do like the integration that they have with Unraid.
  22. Mine stays at 30 degrees Celcius all the time.
