  1. I tried rc6 with your VB install and it works fine. Seems to run as fast as 4.7 did, very responsive. Just out of curiosity, are you using the same scripts that are in the wiki? I've been trying to use them to build my own version of the tgz file, but it's not working for me.
  2. Hi, So I tryed your tgz file on rc5 and it installes and works fine. (after I install the extension pack). So I'm now running rc5 with no problems. There must be a dependancy problem with rc6 and version 3.4.4. I don't think we need to spend much time on this until unraid 5 goes final. Will you update the wiki with 3.x link to the kernel?
  3. I've been pondering updating from 4.7 to 5. I tried to test with rc6 and I can run the scripts to install virtualbox, but I can't start VMs. I get this error: WARNING: The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module available for the current kernel (3.4.4-unRAID) or it failed to load. Please recompile the kernel module and install it by sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed. Waiting for VM "Beka.test3" to power on... VBoxManage: error: The virtual machine 'Beka.test3' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 VBoxManage: error: Details: code NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005), component Machine, interface IMachine, callee The only change I made to the script is to change the location of the linux sources from 2.6 to 3.x [ ! -e "linux-$KVERSION.tar.gz" ] && wget http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.x/linux-$KVERSION.tar.gz Should I be using a different unraid version? Any help would be nice.
  4. The problem partly solved itself. I did get the newest version of phpVirtualBox (4.1-1b currently) and now it works fine, but only in FireFox. Doesn't work (for me) in IE. So for me to get it working I needed to get the newest phpVirtualBox, remove the old version (dont indstall on top of it) and edit config.php to reflect my system. To create the package of VirtualBox I used the scripts provided on the top of this thread. Just replaced the version of VirtualBox.
  5. Has anybody tried Virtualbox 4.1? I made a package for it and have it running on my system without problems, but it seems to have broken phpVirtualbox. So after updating that from the google site it's still not working (just displays "loading ..." for me). Anybody else have problems or success with this version?
  6. If you get md5deep working in this manner, could you please post how you were able to do it. I can't seem to get it working myself.
  7. By using Remote Desktop. It's explained earlier in the thread. In my case I run mstsc.exe tower:3000, or :3001 depending on what vm I'm connecting to.
  8. I'd like to say thanks to everybody contributing to this thread. I had my old server die on me (very old hardware) and built a new one powerful enough to run VirtualBox. The scripts on the first page worked like a charm and I now have VirtualBox 4.0.6 running a few VMs and am able to retire 2 other PCs. This is excellent. The server is running faster then ever, and the VMs are also very fast, thanks to being migrated to modern hardware. I used CloneVDI to migrate old windows machines into VirtualBox and had no problems anywhere (that were not addressed in this thread). The only thing that might be pointed out is after running the first script, you should run VirtualBox-xxxx.run to install VirtualBox. Then run the second script to create the package that will be reinstalled on startup. Then just put vboxmanage startvm command in the go script for each VM that need to autostart. Now the only thing left to do is get unraid to run a script when I press stop so I can execute 'vboxmanage controlvm savestate' for my vm's so they release their hold on the disks. Any ideas here? kg
  9. I've got 3 of these. Been using them for about 2 months with no issues. I'm currently doing a parity check andn they all went upp to 31c. Usually they are at about 28-29 and hardly ever hit 30. I'm happy with them and am considering replacing my 500gb AAKS disks with more of these.
