  1. I currently have an 8600 and a 1070 in my build. It’s pretty good regarding performance but it churns through power and creates a lot of heat. Would I get the same performance from a singular 9900k or am I better off going another route? I don’t want to lose performance. I have around 20 friends and family who use Plex. thank you
  2. brilliant, i wasnt aware of that.
  3. I have never had time to figure out Unraid. The fact that i have a working system is due to a friend of mine. However i cannot keep asking him to look at the server every time i have an issue, hes just as busy as i am and he refuses any payment i offer. So does anyone UK or US offer paid help. There are a couple of things i would like setting up and there are a couple of configuration issues i'd like resolved. Issues include docker image size increasing and notifications need setting up. easy if you know how. Thank you
  4. changed to another GPU and its working. Maybe the 960 is dead. working now though. but not with plex as intended
  5. i thought it should default to the gtx too but i have nothing of the screen. Ill try getting into the bios and having a look
  6. Hi, i was using GUI mode for when im in front of the server. ive just installed a GTX960 for Plex transcoding (still not set that up yet) but now i get no output from either the 960 or the in build graphics. Any ideas what ive done wrong?
  7. i couldnt see anything in there regarding that. its a z390 Aorus Pro.
  8. The power is fine, no power cuts or fluctuations. No i dont have a UPS. The server is on its own circuit and we just dont get power cuts around here. i dont know if the BIOS is set to auto start. Should it be? Should i turn auto start off in the BIOS (if its on) and see if it actually turns off? I opened unraid today and it said it only had an up time of 5 hours.
  9. Hi all. Im pretty new to Unraid so any help would be grateful. I have Unraid set up, i have no VM's and at the moment although i have other dockers installed, all that is running is the Plex docker. i have had the sever running for a while but i have only just noticed an issue since using Plex. Plex stops, so i check the server and the server hasn't rebooted but Unraid has restarted. I wait for everything to load and it all starts working again. Im unsure if this has always been happening or whether this is a new fault but any advice would be great. syslog-192.168.1.223.log i followed a guide on how to set up Syslog and I've attached it but i dont know what im looking at if im honest. Thank you
  10. My thoughts are: i dont know how to use unraid. i cant seem to find an advantage to a docker rather than windows in a VM, especially when i will be running a VM 24/7 anyway. im still toying around with it. i want unraid because ive got a lot of drives and a lot of storage. plus i want to edit video and store media over the network. i have asked about the advantage and i was told that errors that occur in a docker stay contained as they are their own environment but im not sure thats a good enough reason because ive had no issues running plex inside windows for years.
  11. i have a similar situation. im running everything on and old Xeon serve with Windows server 2016. Im trying to move over to unraid on an old gaming rig, 8700k and a 1070 which will handle everything much better. windows server is staying on current server for automated centralised backups and bare metal restore function. what did you decide to do? i could run everything in a VM on unraid because my Blue iris (cctv) setup needs a windows environment anyway. or i could run blue iris on the vm and plex in a docker or option 3 is i run windows to for plex and blue iris and have a separate (3rd) server just for unraid and use that for centralised media storage.
