  1. Hey, I'm confused on my upgrade decision. I'm not sure whether to change just my mobo, CPU and RAM or do a full 24 bay case I upgrade. I currently have 12Tb File Server: Fractal Design Array R2, Intel D510MO / D510 Intel MN10, 4Gb DDR2 800Mhz. I have been talking it over with my Bro and I am thinking of purchasing a 24 bay server case as it means I never have to buy/upgrade the server case again, unless it breaks! Proposed build: Processor: Core i5-3320M (Mobile G2 Socket)/Opteron 3350/3320/G1610 or AMD X2150. Do you have any suggestions? Motherboard: No idea Memory: 4GB or 8GB HD Controller: 3x M1050's but I will be looking to swap for a single card Enclosure: Norco RPC-4224 (£200-£300) or X-Case RM424s Home Server 550mm (£358.80) as the enclosure. Either way, this means SAS. The server will be eight hard drives to start with and then eventually increase. The primary uses of the new server will be: - Computer backups (rsync); computer & laptop - UnRAID - Web server (to test my websites before they go live) - UnRAID - Virtual machine (so I can use Windows at university as it is all Macs) and any other ideas - ESXi (If I can login) - Film, TV, Music Storage - UnRAID - XBMC server/streaming in my flat - UnRAID - Run the usual add-ons to source content for XBMC (Media Center) - UnRAID Do you think I actually need this? What would you do/change? The build must be energy efficient. Updated 9/9/13
  2. I've been looking at this case as well but there are not many ITX boards with 8 SATA ports. I read you can fit 7-10 drives in the case.
  3. Looks lovely Sir! I can't wait until your finished and you post power usage specs
  4. I have the same case, it's a lovely case! I keep debating whether or not I should upgrade to a 24 bay server case but I don't think I'll ever use all of the bays. Although after seeing this I might keep the case and upgrade the CPU/Mobo/Ram. The only downside is you can only fit seven drives in it; 6x 3.5" and 1x 2.5". But with hard drive sizes increasing I can't really see a problem. Sent from my Nexus 4
  5. Any advice regarding replacing 3x M1015 cards with one 24 port card?
  6. That is a very good point! Could you not do staggered spinup through the RAID card?
  7. Do you think you could of got the idle lower? Sent from my Nexus 4
  8. Ok. What can/should I do? Also is there a way to differentiate the drives in my case?
  9. I watch this thread eagerly, although I thought it was going to be made from metal

  12. After your comments I have created a thread regarding my issue http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=28192.0 Your power stats are impressive, are you running any addons?
  13. Hi Everyone, After being told my eleven day parity checks are not normal on an Atom, I was asked by Paul to create a topic to try and solve my issue. Current build: Fractal Design Array R2, Intel D510MO/D510 Intel MN10, 4Gb DDR2 800Mhz 6x 2Tb HDD What information should I post to help diagnose the issue? Regards, Jon
  14. Rebuilds on the atom are painfully slow. My take eleven days... Sent from my Nexus 4
  15. Could it be modified to fit? Sent from my Nexus 4
  16. I looked as well but couldn't find it either. It would be great if the original post was updated with spec and energy usage Sent from my Nexus 4
  17. *UPDATED FIRST MESSAGE* I've been looking for details on the power draw of these parts and cannot find them anywhere! Any ideas?
  18. I did read the thread but there was no clear cut answer for 24 drive system and the Intel Dual Core Atom D525 is very slow (current unraid build) and it takes 11 days to do a parity check on 2tb!
  19. What is your current power usage and how many hard drive are currently installed?

  22. Not that I am that knowledgeable on this subject but sounds fine to me.
  23. Will a 8GB DDR3 PC3-10600 Unbuffered UDIMM 240 Pin Memory Module Kit work on this board?
