  1. Does the SSD TRIM plugin also trim cache drives that are SSD (or NVME) ?
  2. Got mine hooked up and am confronted with one main issue. All of this is one IOMMU group including sata controllers which I have to assume I need for unraid:
  3. Are there any downsides to running Preclear in parallel on 2, 3 or more drives at once? Edit: So far it seems fine running on 5 in parallel - no noticeable reduction in speeds but more CPU usage.
  4. Oh wow your kidding! Everything I read seemed to indicate that AMD GPUs were the easier option because they weren't locked down leading to error 43 and others. I am trying to use a rather rare and probably unpopular card to be sure but I figured since it was enterprise/professional grade it may have better chances. https://www.amd.com/en/products/professional-graphics/radeon-pro-wx-2100 Is there anymore diagnostics that I could provide that may help determine why/what is failing? Like I mentioned, it actually works with pass-through until I add the sound component which seems to be strange and the opposite of what all the other information suggests.
  5. Ah, HTTPS is not but it does work unsecured.
  6. Link appears to be dead now.
  7. Have you tried using the GPU-Z utility in a windows boot with the 5700G? I think that should go pretty smoothly. I'll be getting to that point in a few weeks maybe but will post the bios I get if that helps.
  8. Is it possible I am missing some of the components to the GPU that may be in another IOMMU group? I cannot tell myself: PCI Devices and IOMMU Groups IOMMU group 0: [1022:1452] 00:01.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Family 17h (Models 10h-1fh) HD Audio Controller Seems like it should be just group 8 but why would it work when I don't have the sound card and not work when I add the sound card unless it's not the right mix... maybe?
  9. What have you tried so far? I am in the same situation except I haven't installed my 5700G yet. As I understand it, there are some steps to remove access of it to the main system and get it passed through to vfio. From there, it should populate in the GPU/Sound card slots when making a VM. If you are lucky it might just work.
  10. I do only have gigabit LAN but internally perhaps it would be bottlnecked. Found this one instead which shouldn't be bottlnecked: https://www.newegg.com/p/2WG-00UP-007H3
  11. So with 6 port configurations, it would be roughly 150-175 MB/s on a 1x lane? That seems like a reasonable max for a HDD. Certainly not for an SSD but do spinning disks ever need more than that amount of bandwidth?
  12. This upgrade also broke all the paths for VM disks... There is no /mnt/user option anymore?
  13. Had to change paths back to what they were (probably) ...
  14. Jeeze, this stuff is so finicky. I wanted the x1 so I wouldn't have to use one of the three PCIe x16 slots but how much is x1 going to bottleneck? I would just be using standard 5400 or 7200RPM spinning disk drives.
  15. It was enabled and running before the upgrade but now I see this:
  16. @JorgeB So to be clear this one will be fine? https://www.newegg.com/p/17Z-00EK-00DA6 PCI-E x1 to 6 Ports SATA3.0 Adapter Expansion Card PCIe SATA Controller for HDD Support 10T 12T Above ASMedia ASM1166 Miner Card With 2U High and Low Profile Bracket Does it matter that it's labeled as a miner card? Is the max hard drive size it support 10T or 12T (rather ambiguous there)
  17. Hah, no kidding - how can you tell? What about either of the products in the first post? I thought they both were port multiplied but now I have no idea how to tell.
  18. This one looks good but isn't specifically whitelisted for UNRAID as far as I can tell: https://www.newegg.com/riitop-pcex1ts-6p-sata-iii/p/14G-001D-00008 SATA Expansion Card 6Port, RIITOP PCI-e x1 to SATA Hard Drive Controller Card Adapter, Come with Low Profile Bracket (JMB575+ASM1062 Chipset)
  19. I could be misunderstanding but going off of what @JonathanM indicated, the description has this:
  20. This one uses the ASMedia ASM1166 chip but has a port multiplier... It seems like I have to comb through quite a few things to find compatible hardware. That's why I was hoping someone could just point me to some good hardware. https://www.newegg.com/p/17Z-00EK-00DA6
  21. I don't really like to use ebay - can you link to something on newegg, amazon, or another US online retailer? What is the 6 port one?
  22. I did view that link but didn't see any non-SAS 8 port controllers recommended. I was hoping to avoid SAS as it looks a lot more complicated. Is there no recommended standard 8 port SATA controller?
  23. https://smile.amazon.com/Splitter-Controller-Expansion-Standard-Profile/dp/B097SHTR84 Would this one work ? No text indicating a port multiplier as far as I can see but am unsure if it requires a system driver to work. ("Supports Windows 7/ 8.1 / 10 / Linux, install the driver before add the HDD in system ")
  24. Gotcha. Supports Port Multiplier was a little vague but means it uses them (as indicated in lower product description). Still looking then, any good alternative suggestions?
  25. Edited: Many seem to have port multipliers but a 6 port ASM1166 chip controller on at least PCIe x2 or higher should be good. (see last post for link)
