Is this controller compatible with the newest unraid? Anyone? Thanks.
-
Hi i have a similar board the gigabyte x79s. Does your board has intel c606 chipset for SAS ? If so can you confirm the new unraid use the SAS port fine? Thanks

Slow writes, and even slower reads over Samba.

Help! Whats wrong with my array? Pics and syslog attached...
cool replied to cool's topic in General Support (V5 and Older)
I found this msg from the syslog Sep 28 00:58:37 Tower kernel: ata1: softreset failed (device not ready) Sep 28 00:58:37 Tower kernel: ata1: applying SB600 PMP SRST workaround and retrying Sep 28 00:58:37 Tower kernel: Probing IDE interface ide1... The disk5 is connected to port 1 of the onboard Sata ports. Its recognized as sda in Unraid Current storage specs of the server: + 4 onboard SATA from SB600 + 2 onboard SATA from JMB 363 + 2 x BR10i controllers with 8ports each. i connect only 4 disks to one controller and 1 disk to the other one -

Syslog attached. syslog.txt -
So i just did some upgrades to give more expansion of my Unraid. I just installed 2 x BR10i controllers. I moved about 5 disks to the new controllers. Boot up the system, didnt see any errors (tho i'm not sure, i did make a post in Hard Drive section but no1 replies ). Unraid found all the disks fine, so i started the array. All disks are green. So i started parity check. After 20 mins or so, i checked back the web gui and it didnt seem to respond. Plug a monitor in and i can still type command fine on the console. I went back and loaded the web gui again (opened a new browser), i found disk5 got a RED. No longer see parity check or sync. I turned off the server and went to check cable etc... Everything seems connected fine. Interestingly, disk5 is not on the new controllers. I started the array again. I checked the data (not all just random files) thro Windows Explorer on my laptop. I can access data on disk5 fine. Open some files and all looks fine. Now i'm scared of whats happening? Did i mess something up? Please check my syslog. It seems longer than normal.

Unraid Version 5.012b System Specs: + AMD 64 4200+ Dual core + ECS KA3 MVP extreme ( 2x full PCIE x16, SB600 southbridge with 4 SATAII ports, JMB363 with 2 SATA ports ) + 2 x IBM BR10i PCIE x8 SAS controllers + 1 x PCIX Intel Pro 1000MT NIC Currently i'm testing with just 2 x WD20EARS. I plan to move my old server to this one due to dual PCIE x16 for the BR10i controllers. Can someone check if there is any problem in my syslog? So far i just formatted the drives and did some writing and reading from the disk with no parity. syslog.txt

Nevermind, i forgot to Disable the Onboard LAN. Sorry for making this thread, let this be a reminder for everyone else

I'm using Unraid 5.012b. The card or NIC interface does not show up at all. Its PCI-X but compatible with PCI slot which is what i use.

Testing controller performance, is this safe?
cool posted a topic in Storage Devices and Controllers
I want to compare the performance of the controllers. Is it safe for me to put the controller in, assign the disk correctly then do a parity check (no writing to the array)? So if a controller is faulty, is my array safe? -
LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
cool replied to madburg's topic in Storage Devices and Controllers
Indeed it was. I had unzipped the file via Finder (Lion). Turns out when you do it that way there is no trace of empty.bin! Once I unzipped via the command line, the file was there and I was able to reflash the card (yay). Might be worth adding a note to the OP for mac users. I view this as a bug in OS X. Thanks for your help I think I'm set. Update - I've moved the 4 drives that were on my SAT2-MV8 to the new card and my initial parity check speeds have gone from 25 MB/sec to nearly 90 MB/sec. Huge gain, thanks much! I'm abit confused, what Unraid version are you using? Is it fully compatible with this M1015 card? -
Well it has been 2 days now. The emergency crew has been working hard to remove lots of walls, floors and ceilings. 1. Somehow my HAVC was not affected. The hot air vent got some water in but it didnt run to the furnace. So its.... very repairable (only cut and replace the vent section) 2. There was more damage that i thought. Basically my basement floors is gone (i was told it could have been worse but thanks to the vapor barrier that let the water run under neath) 3. My HT room was affected . This is really upsetting me because i put alot of work into this room. The bar *might* be ok if i have a good carpenter. But my air duct mufflers are damaged (i designed and built these mufflers, the idea was to have hot air vents to the HT but prevent sound wave transferring inside the HAVC which incase will not insulate the sound in the room ) So the verdict is that i wont be watching movies in my HT this summer guys .....

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately i wont have time to do anything now.... my house has just been water damaged.... Lucky my computer/server room is not affected. My insurance company has been very helpful. So far i got an emergency crew to tear down all the damaged area and setup dozen of dehumidifiers to keep the house dry. *sign* what a day, i woke up at 6:30 and found my main floor was completely soaked wet .

Hi there, I have not touched my unraid box for almost a year now (thats a good thing right). The server has been running flawless for what i need. Hence i didnt bother to upgrade to the newest version. I'm not tempted to upgrade the to newest version (v4.5.4) and i need to change my hardware to a complete different platform AMD -> Intel I'm currently running x2 4200+ on Asus M2N-SLI. I want to change the server to Intel dual core with Intel 975x BadAxe motherboard. Whats the proper step should i take? My version is Pro. I will also add a cache drive this time. Thank in advance

do you know the board would boot without a graphic card? My Asus M2N-E does not boot without a graphic card (which is a waste )

Hi all, I've searched but does not find much info on running Unraid on this particular board. Is there anyone running Unraid on this board? Any issues or problems? I plan to use all 8 SATA ports (4 by Intel controller ICH7R, and 4 by SiliconImage 3114), onboard GigLan (Intel 82573L PCI-E) Thanks
